Tulane

After seeing the new 2006 US News rankings I tend to agree with you. Tulane jumped from #56 to #41. I'm also a native of CA, btw.

Why would you nix IU?

IU is an excellent school and it's national, regardless of what US News says. You can go anywhere with an IU degree. I would have died to get into that school, it was my number one choice. But I'm one of these idiots who can't get a decent LSAT score, so basically, as someone else's name said, the "LSAT F*cked Me!" That name was already taken, or I would have used it as a username! You speak of rejection leaving you emotionally empty. You've been accepted at 5 schools, so you have plenty of options. I only have 2, but I'm broke. And I don't have any interest in going to the schools that accepted me, none of them gave me enough money to be able to attend there. All of this because of some bullsh*t test for one stupid day. At least you have options and I would have died to be in your place. Look on the bright side, at least you don't have to wait until next year for decent options like I do. I want to go out of law school making $75K a year, not some lame a$$ $45K that won't even pay my student loans! So don't look too hard on yourself. You obviously have several options and you're way better off than me. Oh, and one other thing. I'm a California native as well. Lived there for 15 years.

Kent

I applied to Kent on 1/27 and still haven't heard from them!!! They didn't defer me and they sent me a completion notice on 3/25, which was bull, because other schools sent me completion notices that I applied to at the same time back in February. At any rate, I do realize that Kent places better in Chi-town, but since they haven't really accepted anyone with my LSAT, although they have accepted students with my index number, I am just not getting my hopes up. I keep thinking I'll call them, but the word is that they don't like people calling them and the admissions people treat you like sh*t over the phone. So... I am still hoping to get into Kent, but even if I did, I think I'd have real trouble affording it. I'm at the point where I almost feel like sending an addendum, stating I'd like to be considered for part-time as well as full-time, only because it will be very tough to afford living in Chicago with no scholarship assistance. I'm on JM and Loyola's waitlist, but word is that almost no one gets off of those lists, so I'm just not getting my hopes up.

thanks for the info

Yes, I received the letter about the waitlist as well. I think they send it to everyone to help weed out candidates. Good luck!!

Kak153, Thanks for the info about your visit to Wake and I would definitely like to see your pictures. I did visit there about two years ago and got a lot of the same impressions about the people there that you expressed. I believe that I want to practice down in that area so that is why I want to go there so badly. I think your definitely right about the limitation of placement. I am thinking about taking the LSAT again, my problem was that I got really sick the week of the LSAT and since a lot of good schools don't take the LSAT for Feb. I just wrote about the circumstances (I was scoring low 160s on my practice exams). As far as where you should go or what you should do with the schools that wait listed you, I would probably say to continue to write letters of intent to the schools you most want to go to (they can't hurt) but at least have a safety you would be happy going to if things don't turn out the way you want to. This way at least you are going somewhere you want to go. But at the same time I wouldn't go somewhere you don't think you'll be happy at or enjoy just because its the best school that admitted you. Theres always next year and you could apply a lot earlier. I wish I knew more about the schools you are considering but I don't except for George Mason. I lived in the area for a semester and realized that the atmospherew is very political (I guess naturally considering the area) so if your not interested in talking a lot of politics I wouldn't probably go there. Tulane is nice, I visited there in March, thought it was nice but questioned whther it was worth the money and didn't like the huge first year class.

Tulane's Campus
Wednesday, August 24 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hi. Tulane definitely has a campus..it's not an "urban" school even though it is in a city. I would highly recommend going to visit if you're thinking about going. The deciding factor for me...in addition to it being a great school...was the student body. People there are really warm and very well rounded. I visited about 12 of the schools that I applied to and only found students who were as cool at UCLA (unfortunately I didn't get in there). Feel free to IM me: PrincezLaurLaur if you want any more info. Good luck in your decision!

decision?
