Additional info & updates

A note about my LSAT: During my training for the LSAT I bought a Princeton Review Book, Kaplan course, and PowerScore book. I found each to give me good strategies in different sections. For example, PowerScore was great for Logic Reasoning whereas Kaplan was great for Logic Games. A 152 was a 13 point jump from where I started 6 months prior to the exam. I chose not to take the LSAT again because there's only so much I can do to push myself. 152 was definitely my max score.

10/25- Interview at Pace.
Had my interview at Pace Law. I don't want to say whether it went well or not because I don't want my hopes up. I'll just say I did average. I did not sound like an idiot or come off as any different than I actually am.

11/17- Calling schools.
I called a couple schools to see if my application was complete. All were complete but Hofstra.

12/1- Online tracking.
I have the ability to track my applicationline for Hofstra and Baltimore.

12/17- First acceptance!
Accepted to Widener Law in a large white envelope. The envelope did not say "accepted" or "welcome" on the cover so I had to open it up to find out the results. I am very happy about this considering I sent in my application late August. Well, as everyone always says, "it's nice to know that I got into a school."

12/20- Waitlisted at Catholic.
I am thrilled to be waitlisted at Catholic PT. I was assuming rejection or waitlist. I'm glad I got the latter. We'll see what happens come April (the first month they will get back to me).

12/22- Waitlisted at Baltimore.
Pretty surprised that I was waitlisted at Baltimore. It's a 153 LSAT in the 25th percentile so I should not have assumed an easy acceptance. We'll see what happens with this one.

01/05- Updated Transcripts and Recommendations.
I sent updated transcripts to each school since my GPA was considerably better this semester. I got one of my professors to write me a LOR as well. I did not send the updated transcripts through LSAC (not sure if that's okay or not) but I'll put the LOR through it.

01/09- Accepted to Touro.
Accepted to Touro with a scholarship. No surprise there. I did my research and knew I'd get in with a scholarship. Not sure when this mail actually came. It could have been 1/08 but I was not in town to get the mail. To put it simply, Touro is a contender until I (hopefully) get in to Pace or NY Law. If I get in either of these schools, Touro is out of the picture.

01/23- Waitlisted at Pace.
Very surprised to be waitlisted at Pace. I'm disappointed. I had the 25-75 LSAT, a great GPA and interviewed with the school. All that got me was a waitlist. Though disappointed, the letter informed me that the average LSAT accepted thus far was a whopping 157. So maybe that's why I didn't make it just yet.

01/31- Waitlisted at Hofstra.
After 10 days of my online status saying that the results were mailed to me I finally got back a response. Turns out it is a waitlist at Hofstra. I am extremely satisfied once again. I replied that I am interested in both FT and PT. All these waitlists are good because the first step in applying to a stretch school is to be waitlisted.

02/01- Uploading new transcript and new LOR.
I have uploaded my fall grades and "bold, fresh" LOR to LSAC. Because of my academic success, my GPA can now change to 3.59.

02/04- Accepted at Baltimore PT.
I did not intend to go to Baltimore PT so I will not be accepting their offer. I wanted FT or no time at Baltimore. Looks like it's a no.

02/04- Accepted at New York Law School.
Wow. I am so thrilled to have gotten into NYLS. I actually jumped up and down in the lobby of my apartment complex. For those of you wondering how I got in with just a 152, no there was nobody I knew on faculty or alumni. Instead, I had a very special interest in Labor Law and had very good recommendations from Labor Professors that work at great schools such as Cornell.

3/23- ATTENDING New York Law School
I have decided to attend New York Law School after visiting their open house 3/20.

Best wishes with all your applications. Have you considered applying to University at Buffalo Law School. Our new dean is fantastic.

Hey, we are applying to similar schools with similar numbers. Don't you think it is weird that it is the end of January already and no one has heard from NYLS yet?

Great! I actually emailed NYLS the other day inquiring about the status of my application and all I got as a response was 1 sentence from the Dean telling me that they have not sent out any decisions yet and advising me to be patient. I found that strange...

I am also leaning toward NYLS - awesome location, brand new building opening in Fall 2009, great faculty and tons of business courses is what sold it to me. GLuck!
