Hey, For BU, what they told me is that basically you only receive the 'deans scholarship' if you are at the very top of the applicant class. If not, then you have to submit financial aid forms + CSS profile to even be considered. I still haven't heard anything yet, although I am really hoping to get some money from them.
I did end up calling UMD about scholarships on 3-9-05. They said they were still sending out notifications. It doesn't seem too structured, I asked when they would have finished sending all of them and they didn't know. At least there's still a chance!
Did you get a letter from MD about interviewing in April? I just wanted to see what kind of applicants also got a similiar letter.
You're right. I'm not good enough for Georgetown for a white guy. I would be good enough as a black guy. Therefore, my lack of blackness prevents my acceptance. The truth is in the numbers. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it. I'm just sarcastically commenting on what I believe is an unfair admissions process. You have every right to disagree with me. Good luck in law school.
I'd be happy to send a few emails back and forth about the subject. That's sort of the good thing about my LSN profile. It may piss some people off, but if everyone was afraid to make others mad, then noone would ever say what they really mean. I don't know your email address though, but I put mine in box that says it's only viewable for you. Hopefully that feature works properly.

congrats on all your acceptances. i haven't heard back from w&l about money yet though i don't expect to receive very much. i like w&l for a variety of reasons but cost, the high rate of placement in clerkships, small student/faculty ratio, and reputation are some of the key factors for me. i'd also eventually like to work in d.c. and they place well there. all the numbers tell me that's where i want to go, but i'm waiting to visit whatever schools i get into before i finalize my decision. good luck and perhaps i'll see you at w&l some day.
