Additional info & updates

Received a minor in possession of beer my freshman year in college. Did a program to have it expunged, but most law school applications ask precisely if you have had anything expunged. Hardly a crime, yet it may be a considerable factor.

Took the LSAT, scored considerably lower than my practice attempts. Time on the logic section is what got me. I'll be studying logic harder and try to score mid 150-s on the next LSAT attempt.

4/6/08 - Went ahead and decided to apply to Cooley. Application was free and painless.

4/12/08 - Got a letter from Thomas Cooley asking to explain why I had a misdemeanor offense expunged. Had to get paperwork from the county proving it was expunged as well as get paperwork from the judicial department at my university.

6/5/08 - Received acceptance into Cooley Law for January term of '09. No scholarship offers but on their website I am borderline under the minimum for aid. Need a couple more points on the LSAT. In the information packet it mentioned that if you start in January your classes will be in the evening. Not sure if this was what I expected.

11/15/08 - Received my LSAT scores. Went up 6 points from 147 to 153. Cooley now offered me a 50% scholarship. (This is going to save me like $50,000!!!!) Now I'm receiving e-mails from Phoenix, Florida Coastal and Charlotte for scholarship offers! In October I went on an official visit to Cooley Law at the Lansing campus and was blown away. Since I want the LLM in Intellectual Property I've committed to going to Cooley.

For anyone skeptical about Cooley, give it a tour. Their facilities are pristine and the environment is extremely professional yet casual. I'm sure you'll be just as impressed as myself.

11/24/08 - Law school here I come. Starting in January at Cooley. Hopefully law school is easier than engineering... :)

Not that you are looking for my advice, but I would suggest you take the LSAT again, your major and GPA suggest you could do much better with a minimal amount of effort, and not only would you have a better choice of schools, but they might throuw some scholarship $ your way! Best of Luck whatever you decide! And I hope you aren't upset by the unsolicited advice. :)

Best of luck!

Ideally, a higher LSAT would give you more opportunities. But its not the end of the world if you don't score higher either. There are many people who have much lower scores who have been admitted to good schools. I wouldn't worry too much about the misdemeanor either. But starting out this late in the process might make it tougher to get an acceptance. I got a late start too, but plan to retake LSAT in June and apply in September for next cycle if I don't get an acceptance. Email me if you want to chat some more. Hang in there, and best of luck to you! Crissy :)

Good Luck in your Applications

Definitely a few more points on the LSAT would benefit, my current applications cycle has been mixed, getting several rejections, a few waitlists, and a few accepted, if you can do so, I'd recommend pushing really hard and with a LSAT score 5-8 points higher you could get in several more places....something I wish I would have done. Good Luck!

Hey, I was wondering what made you choose Cooley. Michigan isn't exactly close to SC lol.
