Additional info & updates

* Scholarships are "per year" amounts.

2/17/10: Per email from Creighton, "I just sent a letter which will go out today. You should receive it in the next few days." I'm not exactly sure if "a letter" should be interpreted positively or negatively.

2/22/10: Accepted at Creighton via mail. Correspondence was a large white envelope. Offered a full-tuition scholarship for the first year that is renewable for the second and third years provided I remain in good standing with the university. The amount I have listed in the scholarship column is the cost of tuition for the first year. Horray! I'm now guaranteed to attend law school somewhere this coming fall.

2/27/10: Accepted at Drake via mail. Correspondence was also in a large white envelope. Offered a $26,000 merit scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year (84.5% of tuition). The scholarship may be renewed for my 2L & 3L years if I am in the top 1/3rd of my class and meet financial need requirements.

3/2/10: Accepted at Iowa via email! This has been a great nine days. Final law school tally 3 - 0. I will be visiting all three schools in the next week and will make a decision following those visits.

3/5/10: Formal letter of acceptance from Iowa arrived in a medium sized envelope.

3/8/10: Visited Drake. It was a good visit overall. The students and staff I met were all really informative and helpful. They mainly stress the practicality of their education, their location in Iowa's capitol and largest city, and their extensive network within Iowa. Basically, Drake is a solid option for those wanting to stay in Iowa. Of the 65% of graduates who enter into private practice, 80% of those remain in Iowa.

3/12/10: Visited Iowa. Fantastic visit. The building is fairly dated (think UFO with early 80's decor), but the students, professors, and available opportunities seem outstanding.

3/15/10: I have decided to attend Iowa in the fall and will have to regretably withdraw from Drake and Creighton. I hope my decision to withdraw will provide two other people with a chance at a good legal education at a quality institution.

I am not really sure what in progress means. I really did not get a chance to check my Iowa status so I am not sure. However, with most other schools in progress means it is not complete yet, and under review means it is complete and as the phrase suggests, it is under review. Don't be discouraged though if they just recieved the app on 2-11 it will take about a week or so to go complete.

I think "In Progress" is another way of saying "under review". My status has said that for a long time. If you hear something different, please let me know!! haha.

Ha, yeah, that probably would have been me. And which tour member are you? $42k is a pretty hefty price. Best of luck to you as you make your decision.
