Additional info & updates

M.A.-English Literature with emphasis in Contrastive Rhetoric & Composition (3.7)

Strong rec letters from all 3 professors that were on my thesis committee.

Low GPA due to first semester of college-3 science courses in one semester and completely bombed. GPA stayed within 3.2-3.3 thereafter (thankfully, since my scholarship was renewable only if my average GPA for each year was above a 3.2)

One year university English adjunct instructor in Seoul, Korea.

One year full time legal assistant at law firm while attending graduate school full time.

Currently, employed as a financial coordinator for a real estate investment firm in downtown Los Angeles.

12/3/08 - First notice is an email acceptance to Rutgers-Newark! I'm so excited, especially since it's close to NYC! Hoping there'll be some money when the packet arrives.

12/22/08 - Full scholarship at Albany Law. Renewable for following 2 years without reapplication provided class rank stays above the 50th percentile. I keep hearing T3 full ride is better than T2 full price. The plot thickens.

1/17/09 - Happy New Year everyone! St. John's came through with a scholarship that's renewable given my class ranking remains in the 50th percentile! With my numbers, I didn't even think I"d get in. Still, out of my acceptances, I'm becoming more convinced that Albany will get my deposit if I don't hear from UCI (getting antsy!!!), or T1 schools. Especially in these economic crunch times, it's hard to walk away from a full ride to law school in a state I love. I would love to get involved in government work at the state capital, too.

2/5/09 - AHHH! IN at UConn!!! FULL TIME! Still...a full ride is still so attractive...we'll see! I never imagined I'd actually have OPTIONS!

2/11/09 - my cycle is officially over! I am going to be a Husky!!! (But for the record, I'll can only be a nominal one because as a Wolverine, I bleed Blue:)

Congrats. I see we are both in Albany and Rutgers. Any word on Cardozo? They are certainly taking their time.

Congrats on UConn!

I'm accepted there too and trying to decide if that's where I want to be. Mind if I ask what the deciding factors were that made you commit there?

Awesome

Thanks for your really great emails. I hope I haven't come off too negative about UConn -- I think it's a great school!! Let's keep in touch!

thanks

I think UCONN is an excellent law school. Connecticut has three law schools, Yale, Quinnipiac, and UCONN. No one from Yale stays in CT and Quinnipiac is still trying to make a name for itself in the NE region. That leaves UCONN and its small class of about 150 to dominate CT. UCONN also places alot of its grads in RI, which only has one very poor school (Roger Williams) I'm also under the impression that UCONN places a number of grads in Boston (where i want to eventually end up) So overall, im really excited and happy to be attending UCONN.

I joined the club of fellow future huskies! However, I decided to defer for a year as I have a very unique and interesting job. Good luck next year and please let me know how you like it!
