Additional info & updates

2/23/07 Hamline called to inform me that I was accepted and I'm really happy about that. I received a white letter a few days later. My LSAT is rather low at 151, although my GPA is high so I'm just patiently waiting and hoping to hear some positive feedback from some of the other schools as well.

3/5/07 Went on a visits to William Mitchell and Hamline today. Liked both schools. WM handed me my acceptance letter as I came in. I'm happy because now I for sure have a choice. Let's keep this positive trend going.....

3/8/07 Called schools I hadn't heard from today to check and see if my applications were complete and Admissions at NIU told me I was in and would be receiving my letter shortly.

3/12/07 Got a large white envelope in the mail from Gonzaga. I'm in AND I was offered a $7,000 a year scholarship for 3 years, that makes matters even better!

my top choice would be MSU. I am going to visit Hamline, William Mitchell, and Drake next week. I will let you know how the visits go. My sister went to Kansas undergrad and loved it. I visited several times and it is a great campus.

I am not sure when fall students would hear, probably rather soon.

So are you considering NIU at all? I have your same LSAT and my GPA is only slightly lower. I am patiently waiting for them to make a decision as well. Good luck.

Hey! I just got back from visiting Hamline and William Mitchell. I really liked both schools as well as St. Paul. I hope I get some good news from either of these schools soon!

I think that I got a better feeling from WM. I liked the area it was in better, and also the facility. I will have to see, but I really hope I get in there!

I would rank Mitchell over Hamline. I have viewed all of the MN schools and UST is #1 in my books but Mitchell has some very qualified profs.

I don't know how NIU deals with out of state applicants. But truthfully, I don't really think that's a factor in their admissions process, either. They're one of the only schools where you can be a resident in 6 months. Therefore, you could move for law school and only have to pay out of state tuition for the first semester, if you apply for Illinois residency by doing things like getting an Illinois driver's license. The school is only about an hour and a half to two hours west of Chicago and you can basically get to Chicago by the train, if you get to Geneva or Aurora, which are about 25 minutes or half an hour away. So the location really is not that bad, either. I haven't called them to see if my application is complete, simply because I only sent it like 2 weeks ago anyway. I'll probably call in another couple of weeks if I haven't heard anything.

NIU again

Well maybe I should call them...LMAO...but after visiting Cooley for their open house today, I'd pretty much choose Cooley over NIU anyday even though NIU is 3rd tier and Cooley is 4th tier....too many people are fooled by rankings when what they should really be checking into is what other current students think of the school and whether or not you get the grades you EARN or grades based on a bogus curve...

what are your thougths on Drake?

Actually, I have not heard anything regarding NIU's grading curve. Some people say NIU is not in a good location. But the truth is that it's not too far from Chicago and they don't get nearly as many applications as several other schools.
