Additional info & updates

12-14: In at NESL with a phone call waking me up, and large envelope containing acceptance letter and viewbook. Pretty exciting, I am going to law school!

12-23: MSU sends a large white envelope, I get my hopes up...but wait, it is just another viewbook and application!!! not cool!!!!

1-17: Email from MSU saying application is
"on hold" until March. Better than a rejection I guess.

1-26-07: Rejection from Denver. Not much of a surprise, but I am still bumed about it. Came in a thin white envelope. This was my first rejection.

1-29-07: Letter from William Mitchell saying I am on the waitlist. They will give me a decision on or before June 15.

2-01-07: Phone call from Dean Johnson, in at Western New England College School of Law. Turning the trend around!

2-05-07: Letter from Maine saying I am on the waitlist

2-12-07: Acceptance letter from MSU

2-16-07: Wow what a day, letter from Drake saying I am on the waitlist. Letter from Hamline saying I am on the waitlist.

That now makes 4 schools that I have been waitlisted at!

3-02-07: Letter from Colorado saying that I have been punked.

3-03-07: Acceptance packet from Golden Gate. I do not want to go there, I am not sure why I applied in the first place.

3-10-07: Rejection letter from Mizzou today, same lame rejection letter. No big deal, it was not one of my top choices.

3-23-07: Email invitation to William Mitchell's Admitted Student Day. Strange...I have not been admitted...at least to my knowledge.

3-24-07: Went to MSU Admitted Student Day. Great school! I would be very happy there.
Good Luck to everybody applying!

4-07-07: Letter from Iowa saying that I have been put on the waitlist. It said I should get a decision between now and August 20th. I was not expecting that!

5-11-07: Holy Sh*t!! Accepted off the waitlist at Denver!!!

I am officially attending Denver, I have requested to withdraw all my other applications so hopefully someone else can have a chance (or at least a better chance with the waitlist)

Hey, yeah it looks like we won't know anything for a while from MSU. I'm also applying to Maine. What is your #1 choice?

MSU

I was kinda bummed but yeah, at least it's not a denial or waitlist. Thanks for the well wishes and good luck to you too!!! :)

Michigan
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

Ended up not sending in the application. I loved the school and the idea of going to a Big Ten campus, but had already spent a lot of money and time on my applications. Best of luck, your scores are very competitive and you have a great chance at getting in. Just make sure you get to know the admissions people and that they know they are your number 1 choice. Go meet with them if you can.

Rejections
Monday, November 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

I know the feeling of receiving the rejection, look at my profile - I have the experience about it. Good luck with your further acceptances!!!

MSU
Friday, October 20 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey... Personally, I'm going to wait to receive a decision and if I'm waitlisted, I'll send a letter of continued interest. I say if you want to send one, you should because it can't hurt. BTW, did you get an email today (2/1/07) about scholarship info? I did, I thought it was odd since I'm deferred. Maybe it's good news!

NESL
Wednesday, January 03 2007 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on getting into NESL, my mother and aunt and a bunch of other folks I know went there. It's a great working school (very cool visiting lecturers) with a very good reputation in Boston. If you have any specific questions, feel free to shoot me an email. I grew up in Boston so hopefully I'll be able to provide good answers. Good luck on your other applications!

MSU

Hey congrats on your acceptance!! I got my letter today too! It's for the part time too. I dont care, MSU is lookin real good right now and you can transfer to the full time program for 2L. No word on scholarship money though. I think it'll be sent in a separate mailing if we get an award. Congrats again..... =) I'll keep ya updated!

MSU

You are the waitlist king. I have a feeling I'm gonna be in the same position. What happened with MSU? I haven't heard anything from them after they deferred me.

thanks

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about getting in. Not sure about the visit though. You might have to fill me in on how it goes.

Golden Gate
Sunday, December 10 2006 at 07:00 PM

Did you get a card inviting you to the Golden Gate open house as well? I never received an acceptance packet but got a card for "admitted students open house" over the weekend.

Hey!
Saturday, March 03 2007 at 07:00 PM

I actually went and visited both Hamline and William Mitchell today and I liked what I saw at both schools, however I really got a good feel about William Mitchell and really loved the area that it is in. Where are you leaning toward as of now?

I got punked from UM Columbia as well...same thin white letter. Good luck on your last one pending!

Hamline and WM
Saturday, March 03 2007 at 07:00 PM

Which one did you like better? I agree that they both seem like good schools.

ouch
Thursday, June 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

that is no good. July...JULY! Good lord that would give me two weeks to move across country and start a new life! Anyways thanks for the information. How is the rest of your cycle going?

Hamline

Hey thanks for the help! Good luck to you too. I'm really interested in Cumberland at Samford and Quinnipiac. What about you?

NESL
Tuesday, February 06 2007 at 07:00 PM

Our numbers are similar...how long was it from the time you received the NESL postcard saying you were complete to when you received your decision?

thanks!
Friday, March 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

thanks for the info! my postcard was marked March 15 so hopefully I'll hear in the next couple of weeks. Its one of my favorites so far!

lets make a deal...
Thursday, June 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

ok so you want to go either Hamline or William Mitchell, right? Well I do not want to go to Hamline, I prefer Drake or Creighton. How about I withdraw Hamline and you withdraw from Drake? The difference I was accepted and you were waitlisted but that is ok because I have connections in Des Moines and do not mind holding out until July. Email me.

thank

WM & Hamline
Sunday, March 18 2007 at 08:00 PM

I am waiting for decisions from both WM & Hamline. I got an e-mail from WM the day after I sent my app saying I was complete, but no word from Hamline...did they end up e-mailing you to tell you when you were complete? Thanks!

Drake
Thursday, June 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

What do you know about Drake's waitlist? Is it ranked? Do they only waitlist those they would actually admit? Have you looked into this school very much?

WM
Sunday, March 18 2007 at 08:00 PM

Congrats!

Michigan State
Monday, August 07 2006 at 08:00 PM

Friday, April 06 2007 at 08:00 PM

thanks! i wish i had time to visit - i've never even seen the city but would likely have lived in boulder and commuted. well, still a few more days before they need a decision from me, so i'd like to learn more. hope to free up my spot for you if i decline - all the best!

Thursday, June 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

yea, I am going to wait. I have two uncles who practice in Des Moines, so I won't mind going there in short notice....

Thursday, June 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

nice job on Denver. After looking through your apps it seems you have had an amazing cycle, good luck in your future endeavors. Also, thank for the withdraw!

congrats!
Friday, April 06 2007 at 08:00 PM

that didn't take long. l&c showed no love so i am seriously considering denver now - with not much time to spare. what's denver like and would i be able to commute from boulder (where i'd like to ultimately work p/t)??

DU, cont'd
Friday, April 06 2007 at 08:00 PM

thanks so much for the info - really helpful. this is definitely going to be a tough choice. i think it might be worth a visit to colorado after all. maybe see you in denver!

Denver
Wednesday, February 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

What is that based on? Well...of course the firms have DU graduates in Denver....that's cause their grads can't get BIG TIME REAL jobs....Colorado is not what you'd call a wonderful legal market...and in fact, Colorado actually has an EXCESS of attorneys... Believe me, I have plenty of reasons for my opinions of the school. I had lawyers who came out of that school. More than one of them, having lived in Colorado for 8 years. The types of attorneys that come out of that school are just, well...I won't even say on open postings. But I have my reasons and everyone is entitled to an opinion. As far as I'm concerned, you are much better off going to Michigan State. And if you're not going to go there, then would you please kindly withdraw your application so those people waiting on decisions can have a chance? I don't see why you would pass up MSU for DU. But I guess you have different standards and you didn't live in Colorado, so you wouldn't even know. DU is in a TERRIBLE neighborhood, in case you didn't bother visiting. I mean, come on. You even said that MSU would be a great school. So why would you choose DU instead? Just because of higher rankings? Because if that's your only reason, then you need to learn some more about that school. Their bar passage rate is not even good for Colorado's bar. Good luck to you. But having lived in Colorado and knowing a lot about the school and what kind of attorneys come out of it (loser idiots, in other words), you are much better off at MSU. If you're not going to MSU, then please withdraw your acceptance, so other people have a chance. That is only fair.

LOL!!!
Wednesday, February 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

I don't know who you think you are, but DU's neighborhood is far from nice. It's filled with crime. I never said it was the worst place in the city to live in, but it's far from nice. And Washington Park is not where DU is located, but thanks for playing. What an idiot. Washington Park is a very nice area, but that is NOT where DU is located. Nice try though. You can ignore me all you want and I'll do the same to you. You must be the same idiot who doesn't know the difference between withdrawal for medical reasons and failure. Look in a dictionary, you moron! Then maybe your opinion might have some merit! But even if you were telling the truth about the area, the bar exam results speak for themselves. If you want to practice law in Colorado and be RESPECTED, you go to CU, NOT DU.

Deserveanothertry7=Loser
Monday, April 16 2007 at 08:00 PM

No doubt, this broad fails out of law school 2 times and blames everyone but herself for her state of affairs! She then goes on to post venom about every school under the sun because "she lived in the area" or "knows that rankings don't mean anything" but can't stand to take any criticism about her posts. She also has the gaul to make demands on UNLV to hurry up with her answer, come on hoe, you know you ain't getting in, quit acting like it makes a difference and that UNLV owes you anything, you'll get your rejection when they decide to send it. Keep your victimhood to yourself, we are all tired of it you scrub.

Racism and Response
Wednesday, February 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

Bobby, This is not really directed towards you. This is directed to the person who decided to continue posting negative comments. He can't do it on my page, I don't accept them. So now he posts it on yours. Anything I say is just AN OPINION. Therefore, take it or leave it. Anyway, this is what I have to say to that "less than satisfactory person who is sadly part of our society" and makes up a bogus username just to attack me. So...now I'm a "scrub"? You are one racist prick, aren't you? I don't post negative comments about EVERY school. I have postive things to say about several schools. Learn how to read, you bozo. My comments are OPINIONS. If you don't like my opinions, then don't ask for them. And by the way, you may want to learn how to spell while you're at it. Then perhaps people might start listening to you. Whoever you are.

Several Good Things...
Wednesday, February 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

And to that "Denver" person...I know SEVERAL people who have marvelous things to say about Cooley that are current students. Law school choices should be SUBJECTIVE. No one said this "Denver" person or anyone else had to agree with me about Cooley. But it is no challenge to find several students who like the school and have great things to say about it. And it is also no challenge to find someone who does not like Kent or does not like DU or does not like JMLS. I have spoken to several current students from all of those schools as well as used my own experiences. So...the one thing I will agree on is that you are free to choose whatever school you'd like to go to, and you should. Your choice should be SUBJECTIVE. But what people should understand is that, when someone else asks for an opinion, they should RESPECT it, or they shouldn't ask for it in the first place. You have chosen to go to DU and that's fine. I never said to let me or anyone else stop you from going to DU. But you asked for my opinion and why I view the school as I do, and all I did was respond and give it to you. There are a lot of people who like MSU and it's moving up. But again, unlike several people on here who do nothing but post negative comments about other people, all I do is voice opinions. Good luck at DU.

Hey I visiting Denver next week, I will withdraw all my apps as my decision is finalized.

DU visit
Friday, April 06 2007 at 08:00 PM

i'll be visiting next week, too. should be on campus in the afternoon on Monday and for the 3pm tour - drop me a line if you'll be there then, too. ~suzanne

HAHA
Tuesday, December 26 2006 at 07:00 PM

These responses to Denver are pure comedy. I must say that the overwhelming majority seems to think that DU is a great school with great opportunities, in a great neighborhood. I think this is probably the correct response. None the less, all side must be heard so deserveanothertry7: I asked for your opinion, and you provided it...a very strong opinion. It seems like you have some extremely bad feelings about DU and Denver, and I am not sure your responses expose the reason for that. At any rate, maybe all that venting was therapeutic! I will judge the school myself when I visit next week.

commute from boulder
Friday, April 06 2007 at 08:00 PM

hey, thanks for the heads-up, you are completely right. I already got a taste of the I-25 because of a big storm when I was there, practiced hydroplaning, etc, so I can imagine that it's even worse during the winter. alot of people are warning me against it (and it's completely hypocritical for me, as an ecologist), but I think living near those hiking trails is worth the compromise for me, as much as I might live to regret it. we'll see, though - this is only if I can get a car. Ill probably end up living near campus temporarily, then see if I can handle the commute to boulder. After growing up in LA, nothing will ever be as miserable as that kind of traffic, but we'll see. keep me posted on your move! I hope to be relatively settled by the 4th of july.
