Additional info & updates

Harvard to appease my family.

12/20/06 - Applications sent, but LSAC still doesn't have my transcript.

03/16/07 - LSAC finally receives my transcript. Disaster.

04/01/07 - Letter from Michigan saying that my application wasn't completed in time and that they won't be looking at it this cycle. It's dated 3/26 so this can't be some sort cruel April Fool's joke. Disaster.

04/06/07 - Email from Chicago-Kent professor congratulating me on admission. Also, email about scholarship opportunity at Chicago-Kent.

04/07/07 - Acceptance letter from Chicago-Kent and $10,000 per year merit scholarship offer. The letter is dated April 4. I have finally been admitted to law school.

04/10/07 - Rejected from Texas and Cornell with thin envelopes. I feel surprisingly indifferent.

04/12/07 - Letter from Virginia putting me on their general out-of-state waitlist. Basically rejected. Things looking grim.

04/18/07 - Email from Illinois putting me on the "priority waiting list." I hate the world.

Also, an email from Northwestern telling me to view my decision on the status checker. I frantically log in and download the decision PDF. "Our Admissions Committee has completed its review of your application for admission to Northwestern University School of Law and has decided to place it on hold." Obviously, I'll be sending in the response form with the "I wish to remain under consideration" box checked.

Is today National Blueballs Day or something?

04/21/07 - Rejection letter from Georgetown. Also, a letter from Minnesota putting me on "hold." I hate everything,

04/23/07 - Waitlisted at Loyola. My life is hollow.

04/26/07 - Waitlisted at GW. The 4th time doesn't hurt less.

04/27/07 - Phone call from Minnesota. I've been accepted with a $10,000 scholarship offer. Finally, some good news.

05/15/07 - On the same day I send my deposit to Minnesota, Kent doubles their scholarship offer to $20,000. This is going to be a tough decision. I wish Northwestern would just let me in and make it all moot.

05/16/07 - Northwestern has put me on the "shortened summer waiting list." The Great Blueballathon of 2007 continues...

05/22/07 - Finally rejected by Chicago with a brief and succinct letter. Also, withdrew from the GW and Loyola waitlists.

07/03/07 - Still no word from Northwestern or Virginia. I'm more than happy to go to Minnesota, but I'm still holding on to my lottery tickets.

08/08/07 - Email telling me I got into Northwestern ahahhaha.

I'm pretty sure you've got the incorrect cycle selected for your applications. Should be 2006-2007, right?

Ahahaha

Yeah, whoops. Hope I didn't make any mistakes like that on my apps...

Hey, I appreciate it. For some reason, I think we are bizarro versions of each other: My LSAT is way lower than it should have been considering my GPA (and I was testing between 164-168) and your GPA seems in no way representative of your abilities. Considering you went to UofC, I think admissions committees will take that into account and you should have no problems this cycle. Have you looked at how other splitters have fared at the schools you're applying to? Have you considered Masters work if you don't get into a school you want? If you do well in a Masters program, I could imagine that would make it easier for schools to ignore your undergrad GPA.

Thanks!

I'm sure your acceptances will be coming in soon :)

Good Luck!

Hey, similar GPA/LSAT but I waited a hell of a lot longer to submit things. Good luck on everything!

Yale...yeah, right

Wouldn't that be nice. I'm sure you'll be fine at GW and many of your other top choices!

Good luck with the WLs, but if you end up at Minnesota I think you will enjoy the experience quite a bit. If you are set on one place think about waiting a year. I applied to most of my schools pretty late in last year's cycle and didn't do terribly well. This year I got things done a lot sooner. Feel free to drop me an email.
