4/24: so SMU is starting to give out decisions end of this week early next week......nervous but I can handle it...I figure I'll live...anyone in the same boat?

4/24 SMU and Howard acceptances........WOW!!! I got a call from SMU and an e-mail from Howard.....not sure what to do...am excited though!!!!

4/25 Excited. No scholarship info from Howard but will see. The thinking process begins, for a while I forgot about the decisions to be made. I was ok being 'pending'....now reality hits and ahhhhhhhhh, I don;t know

5/7 So Miami added a $20,000/yr scholarship....that's insane.. This is sooo difficult. I need the money, love the money I am just not too sure if I should...tyJ

Hi Guys I am new to this forum and excited. I have been accepted at miami as you can see and that's all for now. I applied to four schools.....talk about crazy.....but well, I did and I am waiting anxiously especially from SMU my alma mater and Howard University. Howard is cheaper tuitionwise and SMU is higher ranked. If I get into both I will be torn for sure...any recommendations? suugestions? words of encouragement???

Good luck

Howard

Howard is better than SMU in my opinion. Its ranked lower because of certain things that employers do not seem to care about. Look at their OCI and the average starting salaries and you will see that employers respect Howard more than US News would want us to believe.

Congrats on your recent acceptance to Howard! I just got an email from them myself yesterday so I'm pretty excited as well. Was there any mention of scholarship money or financial aid in your email? The email seemed pretty generic and I'm hoping they're saving that info for the actual letter I get in the mail. In the email, the dean said that a formal letter was mailed and that I should recieve it shortly. I live in Maryland so hopefully it comes today...On another note, I concur with the statements made by 'Howard' above. HUSL is a highly respected school both in the MD/DC/VA area and nationally in terms of other HBCU's. Because of their excellent connections their students benefit tremendously from OCI's, internship opportunities, and ultimately employment that nets some of the highest starting salaries in the nation.

Have you decided which school you are going to attend? I\'ll be going to SMU in the fall and was wondering if we\'ll be seeing each other then.
