Additional info & updates

- Dec. 6th -
The list is ridiculously long, I know. I do have the waiver from LSAC so I want to take full advantage of it, but I am in the process of narrowing down the list. I think it will definitely help once I have the Dec. LSAT score in (the score I have put in here is from average practice tests). I have been preparing the application material, but I am going to wait until I have the score to submit everything at once since they don't look at incomplete files anyways.

- Feb. 28th -
I've heard back from 9 of 36 schools (yes, I went a little overboard...). So far, my batting average isn't too bad. 7 acceptances, 1 deferred decision, 1 waitlist. Haven't received a "we hate you letter" in the mail yet, but I know it's coming - most certainly from U of Chicago & Northwestern, fo sho...

But these acceptance letters thus far have been a great self-esteem booster. I thought my application was decimated after I received my LSAT score, but I guess the adm. cmts. really do look at more than just the numbers. ;) Thank heavens!

- Mar. 3rd -
Two more big envelopes came in the mail today - from SUNY-Buffalo and Lewis & Clark. Yay! Which definitely softened the blow of my first rejection letter - from Emory. I was expecting it, so I'm not too hurt by it. ;)

- Mar. 14th -
Rejection from Northwestern. Expected. Kinda relieved that I don't have to hold my breath any more...

- Mar. 17th -
Rejection from Notre Dame - expected, didn't really surprise me.
But what surprised me was an offer of scholarship from Seattle University. Not only do they want me, they want to give me $7000 for first year. Yay!

- Mar. 20th -
An acceptance and an offer of scholarship on top of in-state resident tuition from UNLV. That is hard to turn down (I will at least be $30k less in debt upon graduation), but I probably will.

- Mar. 25th -
A big, white envelope from Univ. of Florida! First acceptance from a top-tiered law school. I am hoping it is first of many to come...

- Mar. 28th -
I withdrew from Ave Maria, NYLS, Buffalo and Drexel via snail mail. DePaul has been auto-withdrawal for a long time since I did not send the intent to remain on wait list.

- Mar. 31st -
Accepted at Indianapolis~! No love from Arizona State...

- Apr. 2nd -
No from Boston College. No from Northeastern. The first was expected, the second not so much. Oh well...

- Apr. 3rd -
Waitlisted by Univ. of San Francisco. Better than a rejection, but REALLY...? Forget them...

- Apr. 4th -
After two months of silence (deferred decision), Miami decided to waitlist me. Like USF, forget them... I am sending out withdrawal letters to: Marquette, USF, Miami, Penn State, and Denver first thing in the morning tomorrow.

- Apr. 7th -
Waitlisted at Villanova. Rejected at UC Hastings - the only rejection that really hurt a little bit... I am withdrawing my acceptances from UNLV, Seattle, L&C and New Mexico today.

- Apr. 14th -
Waitlisted at San Diego. I am withdrawing from both Villanova and San Diego waitlist today.

- Apr. 17th -
Waitlisted at Univ. of Oregon. I will be withdrawing my app.

- Apr. 19th -
An offer of $5000 scholarship from Indianapolis. Alas, I will be withdrawing from both Indianapolis and Loyola. We are now down to Florida and the pending schools.

- Apr. 21st -
Univ. of Chicago said no. Way expected, but still hurts a bit because I really liked the school...

- Apr. 24th -
Just received a phone call from SMU-Dedman informing me that the acceptance packet is on its way!!! I've been accepted into the evening division with $5,000/yr. scholarship. Dallas, here I come!

- Apr. 28th -
Waitlisted at Houston, but I will withdraw. I will also withdraw from Florida today. And deferred decision from Chicago-Kent. I haven't decided whether I will withdraw from them or not...

- May 1st -
Waitlist from Arizona. Oh, how long must I wait...? As an aside I've decided to withdraw from Chicago-Kent waitlist.

- May 3rd -
Rejection from Wisconsin: expected. Waitlist from UoP-McGeorge: how dare they? (j/k) Well, it looks like I will be going to SMU unless Arizona decides to take me off the waitlist and admit me.

- May 5th -
Waitlisted by Santa Clara. Will withdraw.

- May 9th -
Rejected from Pepperdine. Kinda expected, but this is a terrible way to end a cycle. I'm hoping we'll end on a high note with acceptance from U of A.

FINAL DECISION:
I will be attending SMU-Dedman come this fall in their PT evening program. With a $20,000 scholarship offer from a Tier 1 school, there isn't really much hesistation.

You're to kind. ;) I thought about retaking the LSAT, but I never wanted to put myself through that pain again. I just accepted the results from that of God's will. Haha. It is true, I don't care much for Stanford or Berkeley. University of Chicago on the other hand...is what my dreams are made of. Unfortuntely, they didn't care much for my LSAT score. I am happy with how things turned out this cycle. I actually expected much worse when I first saw my score. If U of A takes me, great. If not, I'll be having fun in Dallas. Thank you for the encouraging words. I wish you the best of luck as well.

Congrats

SMU is my number one choice and we have similar numbers and are URMs. Any advice?
