Additional info & updates

**Scholarships are per year**

11/28/10: Decided to apply to DePaul later in the game after talking to someone from the school who really enjoys it.

11/29/10: Wait-listed at Marquette via snail mail.

11/30/10: First acceptance of the cycle comes from Hofstra. Only applied there because of a fee waiver but any acceptance is a good feeling - confidence booster.

12/7/10: Case status checker changes from complete to "pending further review" (found this weird, not many instances of others getting this)

12/10/10: Case status checker changes to "committee review" and the date is as of 12/6/10 - weird

12/20/10: Great day at work as the DePaul decision came in

1/7/11: Just got back from visiting Marquette to find out that I had been rejected at Pitt. That sucks as my Dad went to Pitt and I really like the area. Oh well, right?

On the other hand, the new Marquette law building is amazing. I received some great info from the admissions person who gave the tour. I still understand that I am in for a long ride on my decision status since I am waitlisted. Hopefully I can find out one way or the other early in the summer.

1/12/11: Email from Case saying that my ap is on "hold". The email stresses that it is not a waitlist, but they will not start sending out hold ap decisions until late April. Oh boy, the long and stressful cycle continues.

1/18/11: Ah, yet another wait-list. This time at Temple. I guess it could have been worse, so let's look on the bright side.

1/19/11: No surprise, rejected at Madison via email. It is my home state, but I did not think I had much of a chance getting in there. That is fine because I had enough of the freezing cold weather.

1/19/11: Accepted at Drexel with a $15,000 per year scholarship. I applied there because my girlfriend attends UPenn and Drexel is right next store. I have to do some more research on them, they were originally not on my list or radar. It is nice to be accepted though.

3/25/11: Waitlisted at St. Johns. Now waiting for the first seat deposit deadlines to roll around so I can gauge if there is any movement on the hold list at Case, waitlist at Temple, Marquette and St. Johns. This "fun" cycle continues....

4/15/11: Sent a seat deposit to Drexel. Still waiting and keeping my fingers crossed for Case, Temple, Marquette, Villanova. Withdrew from Hofstra, DePaul, St. Johns.

4/22/11: Got an email from Marquette congratulating me on my acceptance. Letter to follow. Woohoo.

4/23/11: That was quick, received the letter from Marquette. However, letter informed me that more information would follow...alright then!

4/25/11: Email from DePaul explaining that scholarship funds have opened up and that I have been awarded a scholarship (amount unknown) if I would like to reconsider DePaul after not sending in a seat deposit. As money is a large factor, I replied that I would be interested depending on the $. Will hear back by the end of the week. Also waiting on Case...said since I am on hold that I should know by Friday if I am accepted or waitlisted.

4/28/11: Email from DePaul, Deans Scholarship for $15,000 per year, renewable with a 3.2 GPA.

4/29/11: Off hold at CWRU...and onto the waitlist. Sheesh.

5/5/11: Received a phone call from CWRU asking if I would like to remain on the waitlist. I said yes, although I thought I still had some to respond via email. 4 hours later I received an email notifying me of my acceptance to CWRU! Great news. Now I have a week to decide to take the scholarship at DePaul or Drexel or if I sink further into debt by attending Case. At least I now have options. Now it is time to go graduate from undergrad...

5/9/2011: Emailed CWRU asking for any kind of scholarship, big or small, as they were my number one school but were a little pricey...fingers crossed.

5/15/2011: Withdrew from Marquette. I am from the area and really like the school but a scholarship at DePaul overshadows the brand new building at Marquette. Good luck Bellini03! Hopefully my spot goes to you!

5/25/2011: While on my graduation present, a trip through Europe, I received an email from CWRU congratulating me on my scholarship...$15,000 a year with a GPA requirement of 2.33. I was not expecting this at all! Wow, CWRU here I come! Signing up for the admitted students day on the 10th right now!

Any reason why Case Western is choice 1?

Sunday, December 26 2010 at 07:00 PM

Right now my top three are all pretty interchangeable. But I am from the midwest and really like the school. I see you are in, do you think you will end up at Case or is your goal somewhere else?

Right now Pitt would be my top choice. However, I am hoping I receive a 3-5 point higher LSAT score.

I was on the Waitlist at Marquette last cycle (it was my top choice) until the First day of orientation. Sent 4 LOCI and visited the school etc. I got waitlisted again this cycle even applying for the part time program. Did they give you any insight to the waitlist this cycle during your visit?

I asked her about that scenario exactly. I said that was what I was afraid of. She said that visiting helps and calling or sending a letter once a month helps. But she warned that the earliest any decisions about the waitlist are made is usually around the first seat deposit in April and May. She then confirmed that decisions can be continued to be made right up to the first day of orientation. She sad that the closer it gets to orientation, the more the law school phones people on the waitlist to correctly gauge their interest in attending. If it is high, then you have a better chance of being accepted once a spot opens up. Very frustrating. Sorry to hear that this is your second go around on the waitlist. Best of luck!
