Additional info & updates

Scored way higher on my LSAT diagnostics, not sure what happened but I can't stand to take it again.

12/04 In at Michigan! YAAAAY! Went to decision on Friday and LSD said there wouldn't be any rejections this early in the cycle but still SO happy. Definitely takes the pressure off...

12/05 Got the Georgetown letter -- normal sized envelope that almost gave me a heart attack since they're sending out deferrals too. FABULOUS personalized note from the Dean talking about my PS and experiences. Already gonna be a tough decision!

12/12 Quasi-deferral at Berkeley. Headed to the admissions committee. Apparently my chance isn't higher or lower than before. Sigh.

1/07 Got "held" at Northwestern. Wouldn't go there over Mich or GULC, but still less then pleased. Not sure what it means for the rest of my apps...

1/23 In at Cornell via email! My first acceptance of the New Year!

2/1 Rejected at Chicago via letter to my permanent address. Saw it coming, but still bummed. I am guessing I can expect at least 8 more of these this cycle.

2/5 WOOOOOW! Just got the call from Penn! Stuttered like an idiot, only because I am SO EXCITED. Penn has amazing programs for what I want to do, and is an great option for me! Woo hoo!

2/8 Rejected at Harvard via email. Very classy Harvard.
Got home to a Yale rejection. Saw it coming but still sad. It has been a long day...

2/13 BOALTBOALTBOALT! CAll from Dean Tom followed by email. I am floored. Have always considered Berkeley at the top of my list, and now that I have all these choices I am feeling...blessed? overwhelmed? happy? confused? But mostly happy :)

2/21 Waitlisted at Duke via email, a few hours after the status checker changed. I don't want to go there and was considering withdrawing from there and UVA before they made decisions, but I guess I waited too long. Withdrawing from the waitlist immediately.

3/29 Got home from Gtown and Penn ASWs to a Columbia First Reserve letter and "status change" from UVA status checker that I find out is a non-resident priority WL (sent to my mailing address, not permanent like some other people). Not fazed by either -- Penn was amazing, and I visited Berkeley last week and loved it too. The only place I'm holding my breath for is Stanford. Oh, Stanford. No chance. Even a waitlist...

4/15 Waitlisted at NYU via large manila envelope. Luckily, I read the boards and knew an acceptance envelope would be purple, so I didn't get any hopes up. Regardless, I'm done with NYC for now and will be withdrawing shortly. Sadly, the word on LSD is that Stanford is down to waitlists and rejections, so one of those will be coming shortly as well. Still crossing my fingers for a waitlist, or else Boalt it is!

4/31 Called and found out..WAITLIST AT STANFORD!! Ha I'm taking this one like an acceptance! I am pulling out all the stops and waiting this out till the bitter end.

5/10 LOCI and extra recs into Stanford. I have to hear by June 1 because of Berkeley's frustrating "withdraw from all wait lists" policy. Well, at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Crossing my fingers...
Oh and...still no word from UCLA. Ha.

5/23ish Wait list at UCLA with a rejection to their public service program. Really UCLA? They can enjoy me not responding to their letter, and hopefully a ridiculously low yield. When you're that rude to applicants, don't expect much in return.
Also, still waiting on Stanford, but planning on Berkeley. Got myself a nice house in the hills... :)

on G'town and UMich, and good luck with all the others. Still waiting (read patiently) for my first notification from anyone.

Top Choices

Hmm, top choice is Berkeley, then we move to a discriminate five-way tie between Georgetown, UCLA, UT-Austin, Vandy, and Michigan. What about you?

Congrats!

Don't be sad because of y or h. Congrats on all your other acceptances so far! You have some good choices to make!

Awesome on Berkeley

Congratulations on Berkeley--I'm hoping to have the same success, as my file just went to the Faculty Admissions Committee. Out of curiosity, did you send in a letter of cont'd interest after getting the initial deferral?

Congrats

Nice acceptances. You have a lot of fantastic options. I had given up on Stanford when I found out I got in - so don't lose hope yet. They operate strangely over there. As for Berkeley, I went in with really high hopes and left pretty firmly convinced it wasn't for me. It was a great, unique school - just not a fit for everyone. I wrote out a pretty detailed post about my take on Berkeley on the TLS forums, in the thread 'Boalt Admit Day 2008.' Anyway, congrats again and best of luck!

Hey, sorry to take so long to respond. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do either. I will probably wait another week or two, then put down my definite intent to enroll at Berkeley... but I'm not sure whether or not I will withdraw from those other waitlists. What about you?
