Additional info & updates

I would really like to attend the University of Washington, Brigham Young University, or some other school in the PNW. I have a growing family, so moving east is cost prohibitive without a major scholarship offer.

12-08-06 Received acceptance letter from W&M in an express mail envelope. Included a $5,000 renewable scholarship.

12-12-06 Got an e-mail from the University of Idaho confirming admission. Letter should be in the mail.

01-03-06 Received a nice call from George Mason Admissions Dept. notifying me of acceptance. More info will be in the mail.

01-12-07 E-mail from Brigham Young University confirming admission. Letter will be in the mail.

01-18-07 Nice admissions packet from George Mason in large envelope. They granted me in-state tuition, which saves about $12,000/yr. Packet contained information about the school, Arlington, housing, etc.

01-23-07 Personal note from Asst. Dean of BYU Law School with admissions letter. No scholarship offer--keeping my fingers crossed.

01-24-07 Received official admission packet from University of Idaho with $7,000/yr renewable scholarship (assuming I stay in the top 1/3 of the class). Scholarship covers 70% of in-state tuition. This will make my decision more difficult.

2-12-07 Packet from W&L confirming admission with a small scholarship. This is confusing since I never received notification that I was complete, and later received a request for a Dean's Certification before my application would be evaluated (which I have never sent in). I'm not really interested in this school one way or the other.

02-15-07 Ding from Notre Dame, small letter in the mail.

02-23-07 Ding from University of Washington, also a small letter in the mail.

3-23-07 Scholarship from George Mason for $15K/year. Combined with the in-state tuition waiver, it's basically a full-ride!

It's worth the 80 bucks to see what happens. You don't want to be regretful in the spring time that you didn't roll the dice even if you're not sure you want to go there. Thanks for the note and good luck to you.

Hey... every time I look at a school, your name is right next to mine. Looks like you're my less procrastination-prone twin. Good luck with everything!!!

Yes... I am from California, so I am hoping that will help. Do you know if the UC schools have any sort of quota for residents? I hadn't really thought of that before. As for languages, I study French (university) and Russian (mission), and I may start Spanish for my last semester.

Congrats!

Congratulations on the twins! That is awesome. And congrats on BYU. I was waiting for you to post it. As for me, I don't know what my plans are professionally. I figure if I had any, they would change once I got to law school. But as far as location, I would like to go back to California. And since I'm a resident, UCLA would be the economic choice. We'll see once I start getting back some more letters.

Congratulations

hey, congrats on GMU! If you have any questions about Arlington, let me know, I live there currently.

Looks like we both got the shaft at washington. I was kind of surprised by that. Are you pretty set on BYU? I am still crossing my fingers for UCLA, but I know it's a stretch.

I am in incoming student at BYU I hope that you will get this message sometime in the near future. I found a message board dedicated to BYU Law and I was hoping that you could share some info about the school/teachers/your experience. Thanks. http://dearcosmo.14.forumer.com/
