Additional info & updates

7/15/2008 From my profile you can tell that I have decided to go to BYU. There are a lot of reasons why. It was not my least expensive choice, it was the best choice though. I just bought my laptop for school and I have registered for classes. Crazy that it is all starting to feel more real.

4/10/08 With the first seat deposit coming up I am almost ready to make a final decision. Part of me doesn't want to make the decision because the fun of applying to law school will be over. I've narrrowed it down to Pepperdine, Emory, San Diego, and BYU. All great schools. Right now I will probably go to BYU for various reasons.

A couple weeks ago I recieved the 'hold' letter from Chicago. They said I could supplement my file and I did so. Now I am just waiting to hear the final word. They said it would be a couple weeks.

3/10/08 Email from Houston saying I had been accepted and that an official letter is on the way. Let's see if they are goin to hook it up with some money.

3/7/08- Just got the bye bye email from Harvard. It was fun hoping at least. Next weekend I am going down to visit pepperdine and and BYU. Hopefully after next weekend I will know where will be the best fit for me. I also visited Santa Clara last week and I really like the campus and the people there.

1/25/08 San Diego by mail. and penn st by email with more information on the way. Now that I have gotten into BYU the only schools I will go to if I happen to get in are the top schools that I am still waiting to hear from.

1/17--Notified by e-mail from BYU.

12/21--How bout them december lsat scores. I am very happy with the new score huge improvement from the first school and now I am wishing that I had applied to more of the top schools. I have some decisions to make the next couple days. I will probably apply to a couple more schools though. The new score is a huge relief...life changing definitely.

12/03-Well, the december lsat went much better...I probably increased my raw score by at least 10 points, I hope, and so hopefully that will be reflected in the curve...you just never know though. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the apps..this week will be my last application week and then the waiting game...which I am greatly looking forward to.

11/29--Though definitely a super duper duper long shot I just had to apply to Harvard, Berkeley and Chicago...with the fee waiver I felt like I should and plus on saturday is the lsat so who knows....maybe I will be able to improve my score some...we will know soon enough. Just a couple of more schools to apply to and then I can enjoy the rest of the holidays!!!

11/14--whether I like it or not the dec. lsat is coming up soon and I am going to retake it. I have been doing a little study but I am going to do more now. It is crazy how much just a couple more points on the lsat will help me out. GL to everyone else who is planning on taking it in dec. as well.

11/08---The first, and hopefully not the last, ACCEPTANCE letter came today from tulsa. Would you guess, it came with some money also. It is hard to describe how it feels to receive the first one. I don't think they will all be as exciting but this is definitely special. Believe me, it will happen to you too. Most of you are as deserving if not more than I am.

10/14--Still working on personal statement. I am going to need a good one.
If anyone can add any schools to my list please tell me so I can update this. Thanks
10/16--More personal statement

10/22 Well, the scores are in and I am not as smart as I was hoping to be. I'll probably take it again in December and in the mean time apply to some of the smaller schools. It's very disappointing!!!!!

10/23 My first app is finally out. It feels good. I wish I would just know right now what the answer will be. It is the first of many though. Here we go.

10/24--5 apps submitted today. Feels good. It is going to be interesting to see what schools respond the quickest.

I don't really know, I'm just concerned with getting in! Good luck on your LSAT score!! :)

I'm always searching through looking for people that get into top 20 schools with lower LSAT's. A good portion of the time they claim to be minorities and you'll see jealous people posting really nasty remarks about how they don't deserve the spot....blah blah blah. It really makes me mad!!! You never know what that person has done in order to get that spot and it's incredibly unfair to try to bring someone down when they should be celebrating their accomplishment!! I retook the LSAT in Sept too. I don't think I did any better though!! I'm just trying to keep from thinking about it!! I'm thinking about Duke and Emory too. I don't think I've got much of a chance but might as well try right!!!

fee waivers
Tuesday, July 17 2007 at 08:00 PM

Check out my profile. I got approved for a fee waiver from LSAC and every school takes it. Some you have to mail in a hard copy, but most just automatically waive the fee when you apply. I can apply to any school for the $12 law school report fee. Its pretty sweet!

I was part of Duke's priority track program-they promise to make a decision on your application within 7 days of your file going complete.

They sent it to me via email. Wasn't expecting it. I filled out the LSAC waiver request but was denied. Good luck with all your schools!

Yea we do have similar numbers, almost all of the schools I have applied to requested reports, it took them a couple days after I applied to do so....what is your number one choice?

Hey Thanks! Best Wishes to you as well. I am sorely disappointed in my lsat, but since almost all of my apps went out b/f scores were released I think I'll just wait and see how this cycle goes. Hopefully we'll both get into great schools. :)

Not Sure
Wednesday, July 05 2006 at 08:00 PM

I don't know. I guess it depends on how you sent your material. I sent my app via snail mail, so hopefully they'll request the LSAC report and get the ball rolling as soon as my stuff arrives. But I honestly have no idea. How did you send you app?

Tulsa
Wednesday, July 05 2006 at 08:00 PM

Mine was the same way with Ave Maria. They requested my report this morning. I was stunned at how fast it went. Then again, I sent e-apps to three other schools and I haven't even received confirmation from them that they were received, so I guess it just depends on the school. Does Tulsa do rolling admission?

Last cycle, I think it took them about 4 weeks to get back to me.

you know, i really dont know, i'd love to start hearing, but i mean, i only applied last week, so i guess i just have to be patient, it is rolling though, so before christmas would be nice. lol.

Pitt

I'm assuming it wont take that long. They don't even require LOR, so who knows. I'm hoping to hear back by Thanksgiving, I don't think that's too big of a stretch.

Prior to my first test, I really struggled with logic games. I used the PS Bible this time, which actually helped a lot. Also, if you haven't already, take as many full length tests as possible. That helped a ton with pacing and eliminating silly mistakes. The second time I took the test I was also much better prepared mentally. I feel like nerves cost me at least a couple of points the first time. I was still nervous in September, but better able to handle the nervousness. Just be confident knowing that you prepared to the best of your ability.

I did see that, I am dying to hear something. I think it was because he had a very high GPA and LSAT in their upper tier, but maybe we'll hear something soon as well!

Nope
Tuesday, July 17 2007 at 08:00 PM

They have not requested it yet. The only school that hasn't. Colorado took a while to.

Tulsa
Wednesday, July 05 2006 at 08:00 PM

I checked out Tulsa's wp (searched it is more what I did) and they do have rolling admissions. Should just be a matter of time before you hear back from them (me too).

mission statement
Thursday, October 11 2007 at 08:00 PM

They did not specify how long the mission statement had to be. Mine was exactly 1 page doublespaced, I assume anywhere from 1-2 pages is sufficient to answer that question. I have a good friend who goes there and she said they really focus on what you say in the mission statement and the personal statement in regards to Christianity.

Monday, July 23 2007 at 08:00 PM

hey! i noticed you'd gone complete at tech! i am applying there also. i sent in my app on 10/28 (sunday) and they have yet to request my report as of today (thurs november 1). i'm probably just being paranoid, but should i be concerned? how long did it take for them to request your report, and did they send you an email notification that your app had gone complete? sorry for all the questions, this application process has caused me to become incredibly impatient, paranoid and stressed out :)

one more question, SORRY
Monday, July 23 2007 at 08:00 PM

so i sent in my application this past sunday and they STILL have not even requested a report, though they have charged my credit card for the application fee, meaning theyve received my certification letter and what not. how long did they take to even request your report? am i understanding you correctly that it took them over a week?
