Additional info & updates

UCLA is my number 1 realistic choice... UCB and Gtown are a stretch... we'll see what happens!

1-11-07 - Got an acceptance email from BYU admissions... Letter came on 1-18-07.

2-8-07 - Email from W&L saying I'm in. Scholarship evaluations happen in the next couple weeks.

02-12-07 - Received letter from W&L and a waitlisting from LNotre Dame (rude!)

02-15-07 - Nice letter from UCB saying I am rejected. And I checked Gtown's website and my application has gone 'decision'... yikes!

02-20-07 - Bad & good mail day. I was rejected at Gtown (expected) and at UW (not so expected). But my silver lining was an $8000/yr. scholarship at W&L. Now if only I could get into UCLA...

03-12-07 - Waitlisted at UCLA... this is where I really want to go. Maybe if I call and beg...

3-23-07 - LSDAS sent out my new GPA to all the schools... It just went up .03 so I'm not expecting Gtown to rethink their decision or anything, but it can't hurt.

4-13-07 - Received an email awarding me a $3,000 renewable scholarship for BYU. Since tuition is only $8,200 anyways, it's a very appealing offer. I still haven't heard from USC or the waiting lists. I will put down a seat deposit at BYU on Monday and then we'll see what happens from there.

5-20-07 - LSDAS is sending out my final transcript to all of the schools. I am hoping this will help things out at UCLA, since my gpa went up again.

8/2007 - finally got rejected from UCLA. But they encouraged me to try and transfer.

7/9/2008 - I got that long-awaited call from Dean Schwartz telling me that I've been accepted as a transfer student. Hallelujah!!!

That's awesome. I speak Polish and I'm hoping to study Russian during grad school. I don't know what you want to do with your law degree, but the government (FBI, CIA, State Dept, Military) loves multi-lingual JDs. What are your plans?

Congrats on BYU

My wife and I having twins, so that's probably where I'll end up (nice, cheap, and safe... mostly cheap). Are you headed back to Cali?

bepa cannot follow directions.

Hey, at least you were WL at Notre Dame. I got the ding! Oh well, not like I could afford it anyway. I'll probably end up at the Y. Good luck with the last stretch of the cycle!

Ah, screw UW

Yeah, I was also surprised by the UW rejection. They're random, and they prefer Washington residents and women (notice they have 60% women, which is substantially higher than any other law school in America. Can you say AFFIRMATIVE ACTION?) Anyway, BYU is by far the cheapest option, even with substantial scholarships from other schools. I would like to stay out of heavy debt to keep my practice options open, so BYU looks pretty attractive at this point. Good luck with UCLA. If you get in-state tuition, that'd be a sweet deal.

Gtown and UW

Too bad about the bad news from both schools - I'm still waiting for the bad news from Gtown but I also got the reject unexpected reject from UW. Good luck @ UCLA - I'm crossing my fingers for us both!

I am in incoming student at BYU I hope that you will get this message sometime in the near future. I found a message board dedicated to BYU Law and I was hoping that you could share some info about the school/teachers/your experience. Thanks. http://dearcosmo.14.forumer.com/
