More info Soon, I am paranoid.....

Anyone else starting to a get a bit more superstitious now that decision time is upon us!?

$$$ is per year.

Good luck to everyone!

I like C. Bronte novels. Since I started using this screen name, no one has guessed what it stands for :( M. Paul Emmanuel was one of the main characters in Charlottes best novel, Villette.

Numbers fudged.....

Additional info & updates

The Cardozo acceptance was for the Spring entry program, starting in January, 2008.

Cardozo scholarship was per year and contingent on rank.

Georgetown PT is my top choice, and I was deferred. I was expecting a rejection though, so it's better than that. How do I turn this deferral into an accept!?

12/19/2007 - Still haven't recieved anything from UIUC, letter was supposed to have been mailed on the 12th.....

Might I be the first rejection? !

12/19/2007 - Missed a call from the Asst. Dean of Admissions at George Mason. I called back and she congratulated me on my acceptance. It was awkward to hear the congratulations, she had obviously called many people and seemed very tired, I hope she gets a raise!

12/20/2007 - Illinois acceptance came via mail today. 10x12 envelope with a few sheets. $15k per year scholarship included! This is great news, but I pretty sure I will not be able to make it to Illinois. I will withdraw sometime in January after thinking a little harder about it .

12/20/2007 - I am getting worried about Fordham. I applied on the last day for EA, so I assume I am EA, and I was complete a while ago, but have not heard a thing. Someone suggested calling them.... but I don't like to call admissions offices. I think I might send them an email.

12/21/2007 - UIUC form-type email notifying me of acceptance, and apologizing for doing so via email. The email also mentions that they will have different admitted student events for people from different regions.....

I don't know, but I am liking UIUC more and more everyday!

12/22/2007 - Received a big envelope from Mason with a standard congratulator note and a some strange honor code documentation !?

Also got a postcard from GWU, probably via CRS, telling me to apply. They have great timing, I applied the night before !

12/24/2007 - Received a Cornell deferral in the mail today. It was dated December 21st, oddly enough, however, my status checker changed to decision today. I was expecting either a reject or a deferral so I am not upset, but the prospect of waiting another few months for a reject are upsetting. I will send them my Letter Of Continued Interest on Wednesday.

Not sure if this of interest to anyone who is not crazy but... I noticed that the Cornell Deferral was on much cheaper paper stock than the Georgetown one. It seemed to be standard 20lb 95 brightness stock with a bonded Cornell logo, whereas the Georgetown one was on heavier partially cotton based stock.

12/25/2007 - Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone is having a great holiday!

01/01/2008 - Happy New Year! Let's hope it brings us all a lot of acceptances.

Anyone have any suggestions on whether or not to send GULC a letter of continued interest? I wouldn't be able to highlight much in it other than the fact that I really, really want to go there, and that I plan on visiting DC this month.

01/09/08 - Little Postcard from George Washingtion U. saying that I am now complete. It was postmarked on 01/07/08. That was pretty quick considering the only processed my LSAC report on the 2nd. I hope the decision is just as quick, whatever it may be.....

01/10/2008 - That was quick! It appears that I have been accepted at GWU. I'm not sure yet, but I can log on to the admitted students site and from what I hear, that means that I'm in. Now I have to find out whether I got into the FT, or PT program.....

I assume, with the decision coming this quick, that it was the PT program, since I'm 25GPA/75LSAT splitter for the FT division....

01/15/08 - Rejected at Boalt and NU. I was expecting rejections from both schools, but felt like sending them a donation (application fee).

I am a bit surprised, however, that NU does not send out paper rejections. I like to save the rejections and keep them in a file. Strange, I know, but still it does seem really cheap on NU's part.

01/16/2008 - Email from Dean Richards congratulating me on my acceptace to the full time division of George Washington Law School!. I applied both PT/FT, and did not think I would get in FT.

GWU, is my top choice of the schools I have been accepted at so far.

01/17/2008 - I applied to NYU for fun. I have always dreamed of going there and I thought I might apply. I was pretty sure that I would be rejected, but "Hey you never know!" . In this case that means NO. :)

BTW: The letter was postmarked 01/11 and arrive here in NJ on 01/17. That was slow......

01/22/2008 - Fordham Status finally updated only to show "2nd evaluation" deferral-type decision :(

02/07/2008 - Back to complete at GULC. :gulp: :)

02/08/2008 - Descision again at GULC. That was quick! I'm not sure what to make of it....

It might be that they have already filled thier PT spots, and either instantly WL'd or rejected me. :( On the other hand, maybe they had me marked as presumptive admit, and since they didn't recieve as many well qualified applicants as they wanted, they just accepted me after opening my file....

The first scenario sounds more likely though.....

02/11/2009 - And it was correct, at least partly. Recieved the GULC decision today. Regular WL, the letter makes sure to point out that it is the regular WL and not the preferred one.... :(

02-22-08 - Never recieved a complete notice from Brooklyn, but recieve a nice little email stating that I was accepted on Friday. It was snowing hard when they sent it and I was actually just leaving to get some Pizza in Brooklyn ! :)

02-25-2008 - Columbia rejection postmarked on 02/22/2008. It was expected, but I am a gambler and thus had to try! I didn't especially like the wording of the rejection, but they did use very nice paper stock... I believe it is 100% cotton.

Brooklyn flooded me with some emails today, and two letters of external scholarships they thought I might qualify for. No offical acceptance letter yet though.

03-15-2008: $20k a year from Brooklyn. I hate myself for feeling like I should have received more, but I do. Brooklyn is a good school and it's close, but I don't think it compares to GWU, UIUC, or, on some level, even to GMU. I hope they do increase the offer.....

Thanks! I sure hope they let me in. As for the status checker, mine still says decision. I just checked it a few minutes ago. Kind of weird since being deferred is about as non-decisive as it gets. And I wasn't even ED. Good luck with your GULC app!

Good Luck

Thanks and congrats on Cardozo!

Thanks for the good wishes. It does suck to be rejected by Fordham when over 90% of people with my numbers got in last year. I just hope that this bad luck doesn't extend to the rest of my choices. Good luck with your cycle also, we are applying to pretty much the same schools, so keep me posted.

Thanks for the post. I was excited about GULC, but I really would prefer to be a full time student. I'm still waiting to hear from UVA, WashU, and Mich. I'm taking sort of a "wait and see" approach. I'm hoping you get good news from GW and Georgetown soon!

Thanks!

Thanks so much for the kind words! My numbers are fudged a good deal. I do not have any SF's and am not at all a super person. :) I am going to update my numbers at some point in the not-so-distant future (i.e. when UVA gives me an answer). Think: LSAT +3, GPA + 0.06 Congratulations on UIUC! That is interesting information about the admitted students events. I don't think I will go there but they are an attractive option. What are your numbers (feel free to e-mail me if you prefer)? What is your top choice -- I hope you get out of the city! :)

thanks

Hopefully I will hear something good from GULC PT. I got greedy and applied for both the PT and FT programs, and I have a feeling that that's why it's taking them longer to decide. I hope I didn't screw myself by applying to both, because I would be perfectly happy with PT. As for fordham, thanks for the congrats. You can't apply for both programs there, so I only applied PT to keep it safe. Best of luck in your cycle.

I hope my Croissant factor will play a role. I'm one of the remaining croissants of the 1986 Soviet species. We might not be very fluffy, but we please a stomach as well as our frennch brethren.

thanks! congrats on your acceptances too, you definitely have some good options. yes, GULC would now be my official number 1, although I am not crazy about being in debt for so long. i am still hoping for some miracle from somewhere once they start giving out financial aid! good luck on the rest of your cycle and enjoy your visit to DC it is a great city!

Congrats on GW!

Have you recieved confirmation about Full/Part-Time yet?

GW PT
Saturday, December 15 2007 at 07:00 PM

Hi - I was actually accepted into the full-time program (I applied for both). They let me know when I called that I was admitted. Congrats on your own GW admission!

Thanks
Sunday, January 13 2008 at 07:00 PM

You too! I'm not sending one, apparently I just got my app in time for early admission and now I'm being considered for regualr admission, I don't have to do anything they said. Is GULC your first choice?

NYU
Thursday, August 02 2007 at 08:00 PM

NYU is a HATER!!!! Sucks that you were rejected also. And no way I'll be a Red Sox fan, the way they treat us Yankee fans is ridiculous.

I just checked the other day and it was at complete after having been stuck at decision since December. Hopefully yours went back to decision! At least we know there will be a decision by 2/15. Stupid deferrals. I'm starting to think that I've come off like a puppy killer! Ha. Good luck!

GULC LOCI
Thursday, July 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

Oh yeah, I did send them an LOCI the day after I got deferred along with another LOR about 2 weeks ago. Did you?

GULC Decision

Did you go to decision today like me? Thoughts?

All things DC
Thursday, July 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm crossing my fingers for some good news from GULC. I specifically wrote my LOCI about why I wanted to be in the PT program along with all of the other stuff I sent them. The LOCI was surprising hard to write, so I can understand your not wanting to write one. When I wrote mine everything sounded cliche, but I don't think it came off too bad. If I remember correctly, you are a splitter too, right? Here's to hoping for some deferral love. Cheers!

Oh yeah...
Thursday, July 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

GW was FT and PT. Oh well. Waitlists are good too! At least one of us got in. GOod work!

No word yet
Thursday, July 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

I haven't got the letter yet. I actually live on the other side of the country, so it could be another few days. I think I'm going to freak out. Your app had quite a turnaround from complete to decision. I will keep my fingers crossed that it isn't bad news. WUSTL and UMN are my two top choices right now. Scholarships might determine where I go but I haven't got anything from either yet. My wife would really like to go to WashU, but it is almost 10K more expensive... I'll let you know as soon as I get that letter! Keep me posted!

Research
Thursday, July 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

Since I haven't got my letter yet, I decided to do some research into deferred PT apps on here. Apparently we are the only two (of 4 total) PT people to have gone back to Decision. I'm hoping that means something good, especially since (I think) we both have 170+ scores. So far GULC has only one 170+ PT acceptance on LSN, so they may be trying to get a boost to their numbers. The other two deferred people have a 166 and a 164. I'm cautiously optimistic even though all of the other recent decisions have been Rejections or WLs. Hopefully we get some good news here soon!

Cornell.

I really hope we end up getting in there. Btw, do you have any idea of where you are going at this point?
