Accepted UNLV letter dated 03-02-06. Pretty happy about this one

Rejected by UTK. Letter dated 03-20-2006. A little bummed, but also somewhat relieved. Might have been tough to get wife/kids to move to Tenn.

Accepted at Southwestern. Letter dated 03-29-06.

Waitlisted at Loyola LA 04/24/2006. I don't think I'll stay on list.

Withdrawing from Southwestern. I really liked that school, but Vegas here I come.

Anyone want to buy a house about 70 m iles from LA?

in there, but some days are worse than others. (insert sigh and pitiful look towards the sky) How about you? I hope you get into Loyola...have you visited them? The area in which the school is located is not the most desirable, but the school is awesome. I would love to have gotten in...alas, (reinsert same pitiful sigh from above). Thanks for checking in take care!

UNLV visit
Wednesday, March 08 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am going to visit UNLV tommorow. I would visit on April 1, but another one of my schools has their seat deposit due that day. So I need to at least visit UNLV and look for housing, etc., before I make that decision. TJ

Hey, thanks for the note. I did actually tailor my PS around my Cold Case Homicide Dept. Internship I did with the DC Police Dept. in college and how it furthered my interest in child advocacy. I'm so glad to hear that that might help! I did send that application out later than my others, as soon as I realized that I was dumb for not applying to some PT programs! I have my fingers crossed big time. Congrats on your acceptance, maybe I will see you there!

As you can imagine we were super excited...given the fact that we only applied to two schools, the wait was pure agony. It worked out though. Good luck in Vegas...at least you know you a study break is just around the corner ;-) Take Care,

UNLV and Vegas

Hi. I saw your posting on another person's page and I was wondering if you would be willing to give me some information. How much money does Clark County School District pay substiute teachers? I know where I used to substitute in Colorado, the pay was a lousy $80 per day. You can't live on that, even if you do it all 5 days per week. Truthfully, I was thinking of attempting to get into an alternative program, in order to teach in Vegas. Do you know anything about their alternative programs? Do you enjoy being a substitute in that district? I graduated from a NV high school, so I'm a resident for life and I have a client who has stated that if I return, he will pay my tuition in full. So I'm really hoping to get in and start over this time. I should have gone to UNLV 2 years ago, I wish I did. It was a stupid decision not to. I was accepted to the part-time and then the full-time program off the waitlist. My LSAT sucks major ass, but I'm still hoping they'll give me a chance anyway, considering my background with the Master's degree and two Bachelor's degrees. What do you think my chances are of getting into the school? If you'd like, you can e-mail me instead of post on this site. It doesn't really matter to me. But it would be nice to get some input from a current student. Could you also let me know which books your teachers have used? I would be curious to know if I will see any of the same ones again, if they accept me. Thanks for your time.

Hey, saw your post on another profile. I was wondering if you could share some of your first year experiences with me. I'm considering UNLV, but I'm much more familiar with my other top choice Oklahoma since I'm a student here and know more about the community, etc. Thanks!

teaching in vegas
Tuesday, February 28 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am applying for the pt night division so I have a better chance at getting in, but I was wondering what you know about teaching jobs in Clark County. My wife is an elementary school teacher and a friend ofmine at UNLV told me they will give me in state tuition if she has a teaching job. Do you know what areas have better schools and who to contact to get the ball rolling in case I am accepted? We are hoping to live in SW Vegas, Green Valey areas... Thanks,
