Additional info & updates

Accepted at NESL, but Boston wasn't the right fit for me. Either getting off the waitlist at NCCU or getting a job in Raleigh in the fall. Keeping my fingers crosssed. I really thought this would be over...but here it is, mid-July! Anyone with info about NCCU, please share! Thanks:)

Hi! They responded relatively quickly as I applied around the end of October and received my acceptance early/mid December. Good luck on all your apps.

If you're considering New England you might also want to consider Western New England as they generally place better than New England. However, the drawback is that the school is located in Springfield, Mass as opposed to Boston. Just a suggestion. Lew me know if you have and questions.

They both went complete quickly and responded within three weeks. They are pretty quick. I think you have a good chance at both. Don't worry.

I haven't heard anything from NCCU or anything about them not sending out admissions packets... Maybe they were referring to applications/viewbooks... because I have heard that the only way to apply is through the LSDAS website, so maybe they were trying to say that there are no paper applications/viewbooks available. Keep on them, though if you really want to go there... One of my friends applied to NCCU last year and they lost her app and all kinds of good stuff.

I was wondering what they're doing. If I'm not mistaken, I got a postcard saying my application was complete quite some time ago but I haven't heard anything. Hmmm... Hopefully we should start hearing something soon. I know a lot of schools wait until April and/or May for decisions but I didn't get the impression that they were one of them. We'll see. If you hear anything let me know, and vice versa. By the way, hope all goes well with your other applications. Sorry about DePaul and Loyola.

Sorry it has taken awhile to get back to you. I was told 6-8 weeks from the date your application was complete. This is the standard response, but many users on this site sent their applications in October. My guess is that maybe they will send out all decisions in one swoop. My application for Nova Southeastern has been complete since late October and they said decisions will be mailed early March. I'll let you know if I hear anything else. This is rather strange. Good Luck.

NESL v. Suffolk
Friday, February 03 2006 at 07:00 PM

Suffolk is much more highly regarded both in Boston and throughout the Northeast, however, NESL is much cheaper. I've been in New England for almost two months now, but have yet to hear anything from Suffolk. I e-mailed their admissions office today and will be placing a call with them tomorrow to ask about the status of my app.

Yeah, I have heard that they both have their good points. However, I have not actually looked too much into the details of each school to know which one ranks higher. If you find anything out before I do, let me know! Good luck with everything!

OMG the wait is driving me insane! I hope we hear soon as well. I'm super nervous because of the applicants they have rejected. Anyway, good or bad I want to know so I can either make plans for the future. Take care and GOOD LUCK... VAGIRL

It looks like NCCU has only weeded out their obvious rejects and accepted the especially strong candidates. I think you are right that a lot of folks may not hear until May (or after). However, your application appears strong compared to a lot of the field, so maybe youll know something soon. Also, dont give up on UNC-CH. Your extracurriculars and other stuff could push you over their cut-off point. I am also crossing my fingers on NCCU, if for nothing else, acceptance into their Performance-Based Admissions Program. My graduate school grades may not overcome my mediocre LSAT and low UGPA, but I am praying that my application in its entirety will pull me through. By the way, I am a Chi-O, too. Hoots to you on your great attitude about the waiting game. Couldn't resist the dorky ChiO "lingo". Best wishes!!

Good luck!

With your apps. If you get in to UNLV, let me know. There's a (better than)good chance I will be going here (PT). I saw in your comments that someone mentioned your interest in child advocacy, etc. Did you mention that in your PS? UNLV seems to be big on community involvement, and has a 1L requirement for participating in some type of community service. Of course, you probably know that already. I'm pulling for you.

Good luck!

Good luck on the rest of ur apps! I haven't been having the best of luck either (the LSAT is the devil) but it seems like you have a few more chances including those waitlists so keep ur chin up! Good luck!

Stay Positive..

I think attitude is the most admirable part of a person. So stay positive and have faith you will end up at the right place for you. Write your schools a letter to let them know how much you want this, and good luck.

Thanks for your post! I have to keep my fingers crossed for you. You still have a good shot in getting into NCCU. The delay, I believe, is that they invited nearly 70 students to PBAP, opposed to the 35 that they state on their site. The Associate Dean, Mr. Green, said he has atleast 70 more seats left. All of the people in PBAP will not be (and have not been) offered a seat--it's just statistics. I think about half. NCCU is waiting for PBAPers to say yes or no, and I believe from there, they will begin offering seats to waitlisted folks. They are not giving us much time either. They also said acceptances will be going out in the month of July after they determine how many seats they have left. Hopefully, one of the acceptances is yours. Waiting stinks! Good luck---you deserve this!
