Additional info & updates

ASU: big fat envelope with a binder and stuff.

George Mason: Phone call and voice mail informing me of my acceptance. An envelope of papers and stuff came later.

Utah: Phone call.

Arizona: medium sized envelope. It's about time.
--Scholarship: $12,000 per year. I totally was not expecting this. I will probably be attending the University of Arizona.
--Attended Admitted Student Day in March. I was very impressed with the event/faculty/facilities. They also informed my that my scholarship would continue to cover about one-third of tuition even if I eventually qualify for in-state tuition.

Hastings: Small envelope. It's about time.

Davis: Big envelope with a packet.

Well I got in everywhere I applied. This sort of makes me feel like I should have applied to a few more reaches. At the same time I did not want to go back east and really don't think I stood any chance at Stanford, Berkeley or UCLA. Oh well. I am pretty stoked on my cycle.

UPDATE: I moved to Tucson about 3 weeks ago. I sent in my seat deposit and have registered for parking at Arizona. I received a scholarship offer TODAY (4-22-09). It is a little late and I wish that it would have come sooner. I think that I am still going to attend Arizona.

UA

Hi! I was in your same boat. I hate waiting! Here is my crazy situation: my fiance (wookie on LSN) had been accepted already. Basically, I was in at ASU and he at UA (he didn't apply EA at ASU) We are going to AZ for this weekend and were trying to get an answer from UA since I applied in September and wanted to visit. The dean told him to have me call. The dean is brand new (old one retired) and very nice. He told me I had been accepted last week (1/22). Because he is new, he is redoing the admissions packet which is why nothing has gone out. He has lists of acceptances in his office. It can't hurt to call (your #'s are strong); his # is the top one on the admissions contacts page. Hope this helps! Which school are you leaning toward? I am originally from Phoenix if you have questions. Good luck and keep me posted.

Congrats on UA!

I knew you would get in. What school are you leaning toward?

Exact Same Issues

You summed up my thoughts exactly! We really liked UA's law school, but I am not at all excited with Tucson. I really do love and miss Phoenix, esp. the location. I think we are 50-50....my fiance is trying to figure out if ASU will end up being the same price as UA (he needs to gain residency) so that adds to the confusion. I completely agree about the summers as well.

In-state Tuition
Monday, January 05 2009 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on the scholly! I am taking over your comment section. They determined me a resident so I qualified for it. However, my fiance has had problems negotiating with ASU (which is part of our issue with them). He got $25K (whether resident or not) total from ASU and $54 from UA (assuming he is a non-resident which would be adjusted down if he gets residency). ASU will do nothing to help match if his residency petition falls through (if you are married to an AZ resident, you get in-state tuition). Please let me know if you have better luck with them. BTW, what is going on with Hastings and Davis? Are they holding our applications to compare us to later applicants?

UA Visit

How was the visit to UA? Did it make your decision for you?

Scholorship Update

I am writing again on your wall...yikes! I just wanted to let you know that my fiance did successfully negotiate with ASU. It took some doing but they cooperated in the end. I don't know if you wanted to give it a try. I think we are leaning toward ASU because we love Phoenix and the fact that the school is so close to downtown, but we are still weighing the pros and cons.

Davis

Hi, sorry to bother, but i'm begging you to withdraw from Davis if you're not planning to attend. With my stats it's miracle i'm waitlisted at Davis and I'm hoping for another miracle to be accepted :)

Just Checking In....

I just wanted to see how Tucson was. I moved to Scottsdale a week ago. I had made the ASU decision and then UA was nice enough to take away my resident tuition on the deposit deadline which validated the decision since I don't think there is $45,000 difference between the two. I hope you like being an Arizonian.

I am glad all is well. I can't imagine the weather you had in Utah. I think you will continue to like Arizona!!

UC Davis

Hi, congrats on all your acceptances. I'm WLd at UC Davis and am asking that if you don't plan on attending, to please withdraw. Hopefully, this will improve my chances at going to my top choice school this Fall. Thanks!!
