***Scholarship(s) listed in overall amounts.***

I deleted the old "updates" in here today. They basically told the tale of an ongoing very long cycle.

Ultimately, I'm quite excited to be beginning law school even though it's not quite final where that will be.

I'm committed, at least in the form of my deposit, to C-K, but I patiently await news from the waitlist at UH.

Similar stats indeed. I really do wish you the best of luck and I hope you get into Houston. Hell, maybe one day in the future, I'll see you in court. :) (Still never okay for a man to use an emoticon). Best Always, MikTexan Miki

Good Luck

Good luck to you too. Texas (more specifically Houston) is very likely for me also. I hope we both make it.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Just passed by your profile, thought I would wish you luck on Houston, I considered applying there but do not really want to move to Texas so I didn't. Hope you get in though man, gl.

I haven't followed them too much in recent years actually, but I've always liked the name so I just keep reusing it =P Good luck to you too with your cycle!

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks man, I really do appreciate it. I hope you get more than a few positive responses back sometime soon from the law schools you applied to.

Hey!
Tuesday, October 09 2012 at 08:00 PM

Good luck to you as well!

Thanks
Thursday, March 01 2012 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats. I hope we both here from schools soon. I see you submitted apps to a few Chicago schools...any reason you didn't apply to DePaul? Best,

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

I just checked the online app status checker and it listed the decision.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Oh, BTW, my app to Baylor was for their Summer qtr.

Congrats

Congrats on your first in!

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on your acceptance at Marquette! Gives me some hope that someone with our numbers can be accepted to a great school!

Congrats
Thursday, March 01 2012 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on Marquette! Hopefully many more acceptances follow.

You're right, it could be good or it could be bad; when I was making it, I really did consider that making a ten page booklet about yourself may be the epitome of douchbaggery, but I thought that if I executed it correctly, which I'm praying that I did, it will push me a little bit more, and maybe, that is what an acceptance to a second tier or first tier school requires. I dont think Oklahoma liked it based on a very distant e-mail confirming that they received it, so we are going to have to wait and see how effective it was. I know UGA received it for sure before I received a decision, I also sent one to Oregon & Utah were both sent before their decision, and LSU in response to my waitlist; as I am really on the border at Oregon and LSU and I thought the risk involved in Utah and UGA was very well worth it, whats the worst they can do, say no?

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on your acceptance to Marquette.

Wednesday, October 17 2012 at 08:00 PM

Quick question about your Baylor app: How long from when it was complete did it go under review? I also applied for Fall & Summer. I'm holding hope for Summer since their medians are lower... Congrats on Marquette!

Wednesday, October 17 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thank you! So, how do you feel about attending out of state? I want to work in Texas so I'm on the fence. How about yourself?

Thank you
Tuesday, November 01 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thank you! Congrats at Marquette! Here's to your continued success this cycle!

Thanks!
Saturday, October 20 2012 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Marquette! It seems like it's going to be a good cycle for most.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

I haven't been getting spam hits lately...knock on wood.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thx myost, good $$$ from Cuse and congrats on STCL. Best of luck at UH too.

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks and congrats on your three acceptances thus far! Wow, talk about the conundrum of being on the waitlist huh? I feel your pain too...I'm curious, how many letters of continued interest are you going to send to those schools that waitlisted to? also, are you going to send them to all of the schools you got waitlisted by or what are your plans exactly for that?

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

Hey whenever you do go to chicago, I go back and forth between there and fort worth a lot so if you ever need anything while you are there, let me know. Miki

Chi-Town.

Lincoln Park is great (that is where Depaul is and so you are bound to run into some depaul law school students there) as is Rogers Park for most college aged kids (18-27 demo). I really like lincoln park because wrigleyville (essentially where the cubs are and the social scene around there) is great for people our age. As a good rule of thumb, if you can afford to avoid it, avoid the west and south side of chicago

Chicago-Kent
Thursday, March 01 2012 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on the acceptance! How did you get off the WL? Was it a result of visiting?

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the UH sympathy, myost, and congrats on getting waitlisted to UH. I do mean it when I say I think they'll let you in from their WL. Great question about St Mary's v. TWU v. STCL. I was telling someone else they are all about the same but do read on. Exception 1: rough research shows that St Mary's really is a.) quite politically connected b.) located coincidentally in the most under-served portion of a really growing geographical market within TX and c.) a good school...not 8/9 in Texas, more like 3/9 some years, 8/9 others, and floating between in others. Exception 2: TexWes is going to get bought by TAMU and although the prelim timeline said by 2013 class start, it's gonna be bought by 2014 class start. What does that mean? TAMU does not play around when they say they want all their programs to be in the top 10 in the country, although this jump would be a world beater if done even within 7 years for the LS. TAMU's a $3B university, with lots more oil $$ than my undergrad school, LSU. They really do the ring knocker thing...you know, like West Point, they take care of their own and keep the network strong---which could be awesome over a 20+ year legal career where networks in non-legal areas are extremely important (down the line I'd like to own my own successful firm). Exception 3: STCL has probably the most storied trial advocacy program, besides Stetson, in the country. Guys with scores like mine don't ever talk about going to law school and being the best in the country at anything...unless guys like me go to STCL and spend the time getting ready for and critiquing and getting chosen to compete...it is nuts how many national titles that Dr Treece has brought home for STCL....he's the Bear Bryant of competitive mock trial, as far as I can see, and can take marginal talent and make them own the competition. All in all, St Mary's says I'm in at their school and if TexWes and STCL reject me, I'll be very happy to attend St Mary's. If I get accepted to STCL and TexWes rejects me, I'll attend STCL and reluctantly decline St Mary's. If all three accept me, I'll probably attend TexWes, b/c of the TAMU network and the fact that I'll have 2/3 years of free tuition under the TX Hazelwood act...when the merger goes thru and is finalized in 2014. My wife will really want me to go to STCL if accepted, no matter what, but I'm leaning toward TexWes...if accepted, of course. Long post, I know, but a good question.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

All this being said, you've got some sweet choices which are, on net, a lot better than St Mary's or TexWes or even STCL. With all the love Cuse and Kent look to be showing you, you've got some great choices...unless you're really wanting to stay in Hou, which would be awesome too and you'll probably get to do via UH.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Well, best wishes at C-K or UH, whichever you choose. Would coming off the WL at Loyola or Illinois and being awarded a package like the one C-K is offering make you want to really go to one of those schools...or are you really leaning toward C-K no matter what, within the Chicago area?

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thx for withdrawing from STCL, much appreciation.

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

I totally feel your wait-list pain right now!

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

I have no idea man; I still have S.C, Ole Miss, and Oregon to hear back from so I'm just waiting ever so patiently. But my god am I getting impatient after sending almost all of my in September! I'm feeling anxious and just tired as I want to be able to start planning a major facet of my life without it being rushed!

Dear Twin
Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

Dear Twin, I've officially concluded that we are indeed twins as there is no logical explanation for the absurdities that has been our admissions process... Miki

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

Yea I'm still hoping for SMU, LSU, Oklahoma, Utah, and Tennessee; also still thankful for my acceptances, and like you, I still have to ponder and deeply evaluate which of my acceptances would suit me better. But at the same time, who knows...

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks on the congrats! At least you've narrowed down your choices thus far! Almost all in illinois if I may add. Well, south carolina is beautiful (and the scholarship as well), but Louisiana is just as beautiful. Most likely than not, I'll make a final decision within a month of where I'll be going (though the decision can come sooner). Who knows and we will find out sooner or later.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks myost, I'm pretty happy today. I appreciate the support. Continued best of luck to you, especially at your WL schools. At least one, maybe even all, of your apps on WL status now will end up acceptances.

Tuesday, February 21 2012 at 07:00 PM

Are you thinking about making a decision on Syracuse?

Sunday, June 17 2012 at 08:00 PM

VeggieTable, My decision on 'Cuse is really all-but made. It's near home for me so there was a real interest in that regard but ultimately I feel like Chicago-Kent is the best opportunity for me and I really enjoyed the city of Chicago when I visited last week. What about you?

Thursday, October 04 2012 at 08:00 PM

yea, I would sincerely enjoy to seeing you and challenging you in court in Houston as a worthy frenemy, amigfoe (?) indeed! My advice, keep fucking trying to get in UH. It took me three LOCIs and my pamphlet for LSU to consider me further (also dont want to go complete stalker, limit it to one or two LOCIs, as I'm sure you should go and write to school, why won't you accept me with tears in your eyes, let it be known, that was sarcastic joking mixed with advice). So, would I be wrong in assuming that if you dont get into UH, you will be sending your seat deposit to C-K?
