Applied to the CLEO six-week summer institue. I hope I get in because I know TSU usually accepts anyone who completes the program. I should hear back before Jan. 31st.

1-12-13 Just got accepted to that CLEO program! Hopefully this will really help out my application. Going to e-mail some people on Monday for sure to let them know I've been accepted.

Additional info & updates

Hello! I'm pretty honest on my stuff. Let's see what happens!

I'm applying for Fall 2013

9-21-12 I submitted my application to Cooley Law. I only used my first LSAT score of a 143.

09-24-12 Submitted my UT law application. In all reality I'm not planning on getting accepted. I know how great their standards are but it is wise to apply to several schools just to keep some options available.

09-25-12 Submitted my application to Baylor Law

09-26-12 Submitted my application to Widener Law

09-27-12I got a letter in the mail from Cooley stating that unfortunately I didn't have the minimum requirements to be admitted. However they would take a look at my LSAT writing sample to see if I am able to prove myself. To be honest I have no idea how that will help. My hand writing is small and terrible.

10-20-12 So Cooley rejected me completely which is a bit odd because due to other sites I've seen, I've noticed that people with both LSAT and GPA's lower than mine have been admitted. However if I were to retake the LSAT again I would be reconsidered. Well no thanks Cooley Law. I wasn't really planning on attending there so lets see what other schools say.

11-01-12 I retook my LSAT in October and due to Hurricane Sandy, the scores were delayed. Fortunately it was only a day. But it turns out I only scored 4 points higher which puts me at a 147. I think that it is a bad score but I'm not planning on taking it again anytime soon unless I have to later.

11-05-12 Submitted my application to South Texas. I would sell my soul for acceptance. But chances look slim due to other applicants I've seen. I did attend a summer program at TSU Law in Houston and I met this young man who had just been accepted into STCL and his highest score was a 145. He also took the LSAT 3 times and all three scores were around the same range. I still have hope. Submitted my application to St. Mary's. My application status for Baylor has been processed to "file complete."

11-12-12 Submitted my application to UOH Law. I just saw that my application status is finally complete and being considered for Widener Law.

11-13-12 UOH application is viewed as "complete" for early decision.

11-15-12 I got an e-mail for Tex Wes today saying that my application is finally "complete." It will take about 6 - 8 weeks to review my file. Once it is done it will either say admitted, wait listed, or...denied. Let's see what happens. I've also noticed that my application at St. Mary's is finally complete as well.

11-17-12 Rejected at U.T. It's all good I knew it would happen.

11-18-12 Sent my application to Texas Tech Law

11-19-12 Sent my application to Florida Coastal Law. I really don't want to go out of state and even if I didn't get accepted anywhere in Texas, I don't really think I'd go out of state. My parents said it would be wise to apply anyway in case I change my mind. If I don't get accepted this round, I'm going to take the LSAT again and apply for Spring since I'm graduating a full year ahead. I really hope I don't... but we'll see.

11-20-12 Got an e-mail from STCL. My application is finally complete. They said that I might not even get a decision until Feb.

11-27-12 Spoke to someone at STCL. Going to retake the LSAT in Feb. She was sweet but she hinted I need a better LSAT score. I also recieved my Username for their website today. Took awhile but now I log in.

11-28-12 E-mailed STCL & St. Mary's about holding my application for my Feb. LSAT score.

12-04-12 Baylor status changed to "hold for LSAT"
STCL & Texas Wesleyan Too

2- 7-13
I'm taking the LSAT this Saturday on the 9th. I know that scores won't be released until March 6th so hopefully all goes well!

2-8-13 Dinged at UH. It's ok I was already expecting that.

2-9-13 Last time I will ever take the LSAT. Hopefully all went well. Results will not be in until March 6th so I think I'll start to hear back from schools around March/April.

4-8-13 Accepted into St. Marys!! What an amazing relief to know that I will be staying in TX. If STCL accepts me then I can die happy lol

4-15-13 Hoping to hear from STCL this week since a lot of seat deposits were due today. Hopefully people are interested in other schools so I can sneak a spot here :DDD Let's hope...

5-7-13 I just got waitlisted at Tex-Wes for this summer program they think I should attend. I'm already going to do CLEO this summer and I don't really plan on attending Tex-Wes so I am just going to withdraw once I get my package.

Cooley should not have rejected you, especially not so early in the cycle. Just a few more points on your LSAT and you'll be right there. Don't give up. Keep tryin'.

Wednesday, October 17 2012 at 08:00 PM

Good luck, fellow CLEO member! :) (Sorry for the double post. I didn't realize I wasn't logged in.)

Monday, January 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

STCL did send an e-mail but I saw it in the online status checker about 6 hours prior to the e-mail. I found out on the first day they began review but it was for the srping cycle. I think they wont even begin looking at applicants for the fall until feb. Good Luck! :)

Best of luck with the TX schools

No, I'm retaking the LSAT in February so they are waiting.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

I need to hear back from a few more TX schools b/f I determine definatively if I'll attend St. Mary's. If UH, TSU, or TAMU-TexWes wants me, it would, as a veteran, be hard to pass up free tution under Hazelwood.

Wednesday, January 16 2013 at 07:00 PM

Good luck!

Thursday, November 01 2012 at 08:00 PM

Cooley has to be trolling with that rejection. You fell right in the middle of their stats, why on earth did they reject you? Anyway, it's definitely for the better, trust me. Good luck with the rest!

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

What school do you want to go to more, St Mary's or STCL? I think you'll get into STCL and St Mary's too.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Great first choice in STCL...I think they can make a great, not just good, trial lawyer out of anyone they accept. If $$ weren't an issue, they'd be my 2d choice, behind UH.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

I'm hoping for UH, which likely will not happen, but would very much like TAMU-TexWes too, b/c I'm looking at free tuition if/when TAMU takes over in the merger(tentative June of this year--just in time for classes). I'd prefer full time attendance but my strategy was to try for acceptance where I could PT and then transfer to FT as soon as possible, which I'm told is very easy to do, unlike actually transfering from one LS to another. TSU is only FT so I applied there the only way possible. In short, I'm not so certain, in hindsight, it is easier this cycle to get into a PT program, although that's the general perception for most cycles. Therefore, I'm in at St Mary's and if UH, TAMU-TexWes, TSU, or STCL, in that order, reject me, I'll go to St Mary's. If UH, TAMU-TexWes, TSU, or STCL accepts, in that order, I'll withdraw from the other schools and attend my top accepting Tx school.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the heads up re the Yellow Ribbon Program--Post 9/11 GI Bill. It might seem strange but Hazelwood's my ticket b/c in order to get all my undergrad student loans paid off while in the Army, I had to disenroll from the GI Bill (can't double dip in that way). So I never got the GI Bill but got all my undergrad loans paid off for serving...then the state of Tx, in Hazelwood, paid for my Masters...I have exactly 90 hrs of Hazelwood eligibility left in Tx.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

for law school!

re: TSU
Thursday, March 01 2012 at 07:00 PM

Yes, the status checker changed to Decision Sent via Mail. It had no scholly info. Do you know if TSU offers scholarships? GL with the rest of your cycle.

Thursday, November 01 2012 at 08:00 PM

Well, I'm currently in Austin, so for me it took exactly a week to get that letter, which I personally think is ridiculously too long. So yeah it definitely took a while.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

I think it is great you bit the bullet and took the LSAT three times. I hope you're rewarded with a great score for your moxy.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thx for the encouragement, I'm thinking we'll be happy when Fall comes around.

Tuesday, October 09 2012 at 08:00 PM

I'm thinking the same thing. What's the worst the can happen in your case, you don't get accepted? You still have St. Mary's which is in TX and a pretty decent school. It can honestly only get better.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the encouragement, tash13law. If TSU or TexWes accepts me, my STCL rejection will be barely a memory. I'm keeping my hopes alive.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

That's great, you're LSAT improved. You'll get better consideration now.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Thanks so much, tash13law. I'm hoping you'll get a spot with me at A&M Law (I'll skip ahead and start calling TexWes that when I can).

Thursday, August 23 2012 at 08:00 PM

No, I didn't not attend the Open House, but I do plan to do an official visit if admitted. Best of luck to you!

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

At this point I really don't know if I would pick TSU or A&M Law. I told my wife I'd really like A&M b/c of the upside associated with the networking over the many years of my career. TSU would allow for a quicker route to practice though and it is here in town (I have young kids). I think I'll just have to make the final decision when I get final word. TSU might not accept me again and this may all just be moot...at that point it would be A&M for sure.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

I was a little ambiguous in my last statement and I do apologize. TSU, to date, has never accepted me. When I said they might not accept me again, I meant that they had only ever rejected me. They put me on their WL in '05 and then rejected me from the WL. I was a little embarrassed, quite honestly, because after they put me on their WL in '05, when no final decision had been made or mailed, they sent me an invitation to their open house, which required an RSVP. I did RSVP and got confirmation of the RSVP. Well, a few days before the open house event, prior to my RSVP confirmation, I got a call from a TSU employee saying that I should not plan to go to the open house. When I asked why, they said there weren't enough spots. At that point I then mentioned that TSU had invited me via mail, I had RSVP'd after having been reached out to, and they had confirmed my spot in the open house. Long story short, TSU made a mistake and invited me to the open house, then called and tried to convince me not to come after accepting my RSVP, and then rejected me off their WL. I felt small that day.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

St Mary's, that's awesome! You'll get a couple more acceptances before it is all said and done though. Nonetheless, St Mary's has been great to work with for me. For example, I did my FAFSA a few weeks ago and within a week they sent me my financial aid award letter. In short, they are so on the ball that based on the knowledge of my initial acceptance deposit, never mind that I probably won't end up there, and my online FAFSA submittal, they can tell me how much money, to the dollar, I'll have to budget. Big kudos for that. Very impressive show of administrative acumen. I think you'll enjoy your time at St Mary's if you end up there.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Staying strong and taking the LSAT again probably made the difference for you in getting into St Mary's...great stuff.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

You should stay optimistic about South Texas too. I'm rooting for you to get a spot there.

Saturday, February 16 2013 at 04:21 PM

STCL told me to send in my first installment by Monday, April 15th. The 2nd and final installment is due in May. I went ahead and sent in both today :)

Thank you! How long have you been waiting for stcl? It took about two months for them to make a decision for me. My app didn't go complete until my feb score came out.

Monday, February 11 2013 at 09:11 PM

Of the Texas schools remaining what is your top choice? I visited St.Marys this past weekend. San Antonio is a fun city.

Not sure what time they updated my online status( it had to have been between 4-5 because I check it religiously!). Got the email at 5:27pm. Best of luck to you!

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

It sure seems like we've been waiting forever for some of these schools. I feel your pain.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, it has been a while for TSU...a long while.

TSU: 3 weeks
Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

I guess I can't say that I'm surprised at that. I've just resolved to stay patient, although it is tough.

Saturday, February 16 2013 at 04:21 PM

Tash13law, I know it's easier said than done.. but try not to stress too much over it. You have already been accepted to law school! ( that's awesome in itself! So, please go ahead and smile because of that!) AND have the chance to re-apply to stcl in the spring if you can't make it this fall. You can also work hard and transfer after 1L. Everything will work out.. try to be optimistic :) While you're waiting for STCL to make a decision, try contacting admissions (if you haven't already) and see when you should expect an offer. Also, you could try sending an addendum explaining a "continued interest", or an additional LOR. You sent your application to STCL a long time ago (November, correct?) so it might me wise to update them on your activity since then. ( if you have had an internship or have been active on campus or etc.)

:)
Saturday, February 16 2013 at 04:21 PM

That's great, I'm happy to hear that :) Thank you, and same to you!

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Tash, I just checked my status checker a bunch and got the note about being accepted to the PALS program from there. It said I'd receive word in the mail and I did just a few days later. I don't know if it is b/c I wasn't unconditionally admitted yet that I didn't get an official email or what the deal was. In short, I just checked a bunch my status checker a lot, found the message at the top of the page, and then got the PALS (conditional admission) packet in the mail.

Have you heard back from south Texas? I withdrew and hopefully they give you my spot!

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Hang in there. You ought to be hearing something from all three of your pending law schools any day now. In fact, I'll be shocked if you don't get at least some word from STCL and TexWes by the 15th. Gotta be a good sign that you haven't been rejected from STCL.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on your graduation! You should be psyched. Take some time to celebrate b/c only one in four people in the US workforce have a bachelors. I'm still waiting on TSU to accept/reject before I make a final decision. I would quite like to go to TexWes though. I was looking at my letter today from St Mary's, b/c I had paid my first deposit there, and it gives me until June 3rd to put down the second deposit, which I will not be doing. I'm not saying that b/c I'm leaning toward St Mary's, although if I had the money I'd love to, but b/c I'm hoping TSU gives folks until early June too for their last deposit...that way at that time more slots could open up as some candidates just let seats expires. Anyway, I'm thinking the 15th and 1st are the times to keep a lookout. No worries, you'll have a couple options. Now go drinks some champagne and celebrate what you accomplished :)

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, the PALS Summer program is the one I'm looking at doing at TexWes. It starts on July 8th, lasts three weeks, then they tell you if you're in or not for regular Fall admit. I'm optimistic and do hope to get a spot.

well i saw it was a waitlist from stcl...if it is your dream school i can give you some advice on things to do to get off the waitlist if your interested my uncles went to law school there. Good luck and hope you get the spot i gave up!

Congrats on STCL's WL
Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Hey, you're on the WL at South Texas. That's good. I wish you the best and am hoping you'll get your acceptance from there as someone else could decline STCL and go to another school they're accepted to off another WL. You're close. Keep up the hope and polish up that LOCI letter!

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

You should be optimistic about STCL b/c even if you get rejected off their WL for Fall, which I don't think you will, I'd think your chances are good you'll get into STCL's Spring start, provided of course you apply then. Keep hoping and let 'em know you want it badly.

Monday, April 08 2013 at 09:08 PM

they loved it considering they are trial lawyers and it is one of the best in the nation for trial advocacy. Good luck in the cleo program!

Friday, August 02 2013 at 05:46 PM

Congrats on your acceptances/ waitlists! What's your update on South Texas?
