I'm sorry about being crabby in last my response. I just don't want to be second guessed all of the time. Where are you likely going to end up? Are you going to work for your father after law school? Where did he get his degree? It seems that with your numbers USC should be throwing some money at you. You could probably get a full ride at Loyola so no need to look at SW. You're in an excellent position. I envy you.
Hey nep, Thank you for kind words. I have a crazy history. A theoretical physics PhD from a top 5, and an MBA from a top 3 (different schools). Double major undergrad at a fine small research university - not unlike Rice. Want to do research and teach about space law, globalization, transnational, foreign and international law, international intellectual property and the like. I hope that clears up the confusion.
Hey nep, Thanks again. Actually I am quite shy, and don't talk much about those things, really. Only to help clarify questions like yours. Georgetown is a great law school and a fine university all the way around. I have a niece who wil be there in the fall.; she cannot wait to pack. Oh, and good luck with your waitlists too. An old friend was en route to Georgetown Law, then went away to get married + honeymoon and such, only to come back and discover a phone call from venerable Chicago! Now that was a challenge, but she got through that intellectual pressure-cooker in good order.
Thank you for the message. I'm happy to hear my profile made your LSN trolling a bit more light-hearted (hell, how else could I sanely justify my own LSN obsession except by mocking it?). Also, thanks for the well wishes and best of luck on your remaining apps as well (or are you dead set on G-town?). p.s.: our stats are really similar.
Wow, how did *that* happen? Do you think that communication got crossed, or did they knowingly accept you despite withdrawing?? Great job with the waitlists so far...are you reconsidering UCLA to stay in Cali?
Thanks! It was a bit out of the blue, but I am absolutely stoked! Best of luck at Chicago...great school. Because of family I was stuck in LA, but ending up at UCLA is TOTALLY fine with me!!!
I'm glad that you're taking a look at my profile every now and then. Maybe that will give me an edge down the road when you're looking at my resume. ;) Congrats on getting in off of those waitlists and enjoy Chicago! Just wondering but what are the job prospects of your friend from USD like and where was this person ranked in his or her class? I know that you'll have no problem finding a great job anywhere in the United States but I can't say the same for myself since USD isn't an elite school. I'm looking to practice in San Diego so perhaps it's not going to be too bad. Is your friend working in San Diego? Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the comments but I've already checked out Southwestern and didn't like it. Sure the library is sweet but I don't think I would fit in even though I've lived in LA most of my life. It's too bad that my stepfather put down a deposit for me because it was a total loss. I disliked the school so much that I withdrew a few days after putting down the deposit. I just barely missed getting a full refund. If I were you I wouldn't go to Southwestern since you have much better options but on the other hand you have connections. I think your perspective is unique and may not be totally accurate since Southwestern is strongest in LA. Seeing as how I don't want to be in LA, I wouldn't want to go to Southwestern. Please read my page before giving me advice. By doing so you might gain some insight into my decision making process. Seriously, people need to get off my back about not going to Southwestern. I've made my choice! Also, being up and coming doesn't mean jack because the school isn't there yet. I'm sure you've heard the saying "a day late and a dollar short". In addition, were you trying to indicate that since someone at the top of their class at Southwestern could get a good paying job that Southwestern is somehow good? Most people at the top of their class at other schools could do the same but the real question is whether the rest of the class could get a good job as well. In that regard Southwestern sucks. Sounds like some Southwestern trolling to me.
