Additional info & updates

11/12/2008 - Sent in my first batch of applications to Duke (Fee Waiver/Priority Track), Columbia (ED), NYU, and Harvard (lol).

I will need to send Duke and NYU Dean's Certificates because of something minor I did in my Junior year, but it wasn't brought to judicial affairs. I just hope I don't get stuck in some bureaucratic purgatory when the schools find that the Dean's letter says that absolutely nothing happened.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11/13/2008 - Sent in the remainder of my applications:

-Vanderbilt
-Cornell
-Fordham
-University of Pennsylvania (Fee Waiver)
-UCLA (Fee Waiver)
-Georgetown (Fee Waiver)
-University of Virginia (Fee Waiver)
-UT Austin (Fee Waiver, though it was supposed to expire on 11/1)

I may apply to Emory and USC for extrasafetiness, but now, everything is out of my hands.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12/6/2008 - Got my first acceptance! I came home to a gigantic package from Vanderbilt Law. I wasn't really sure what it was until I opened a folder within and found a letter of acceptance. I shouted for joy, as now I can rest my mind knowing that I am going to a law school.

Now, I'm just waiting for the other schools to get back to me. Even if they all reject me, I'll be perfectly happy going to Vanderbilt.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12/16/2008 - Got a phone call from UCLA telling me I've been accepted. I also got a letter from Columbia saying my ED app got deferred. That makes me sad, but I'm hoping they accept me in the next round of decisions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12/19/2008 - Phone call from UT Austin with an acceptance. I've also decided to teach the LSAT through Kaplan part time to help pay for living expenses during law school. I'm told training starts in mid Janurary and if I pass their requirements, I'll be teaching 2 or 3 classes in prepartation for the June LSAT. It is odd how I can't seem to get away from that damn test.

Update: In at Georgetown. I braved the snowstorm to get the mail to find a small fancy envelope from GULC. I was worried since Vanderbilt sent me a big package and I thought a small envelope was a sign of a rejection. Fortunately, it was an acceptance letter with a nice handwritten note at the end.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12/20/2008 - I was working in my part time retail job helping some guy find a pair of shoes. I was heading to the back room to see if they were in stock and I saw my dad in the store. He came up to me and shookmy hand. I had no idea what was going on. He then said "You got into NYU."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1/7/2008 - While trapped inside by an ice storm, I got an email from UVa telling me to call their admissions office. I did so and after a few tries (no one was there the first couple times), I found out I was accepted.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1/13/2009 - I got a letter yesterday from UT Law saying that they would give me instate tuition as well as $21k in scholarship money. I guess that makes me a Texan, sort of. Also, I got a phone call from Boston University saying I was accepted. After I got into NYU, it seems that my cycle is more or less over. I'm just waiting for Harvard and Columbia and to see if anyone gives me some good scholarship money. It has sorta sucked the excitement from the cycle, but I will continue posting updates since someone someday might like to see this information.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1/16/2009 - Accepted to Duke via email. I was supposedly on their Priority Track program, which meant they should have sent a decision within 10 days of going complete. Instead, they were about a month late. Oh well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1/27/2009 - In at GW.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2/2/2009 - In at Fordham

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2/9/2009 - Big scholarship offers from USC and BU. Full ride at BU or NYU at sticker? Hard choices...
