Additional info & updates

Never discount the power of a kick ass PS. I worked months on my PS, emphasized my international work experience and commitment to social change. I am very excited with the acceptances so far, I will be able to realize my dream.

12:06:07: Got a e-mail today from Rutgers-Newark, I'm in Yes!!!! Pgk to follow, nice to start the whole process with an acceptance. No matter what happens from here I am going to law school.

12:29:07: Just received my expected rejection from Columbia, pretty blan and unpersonal letter, not really upset - already got my prime acceptance and I am going to Law School :-)

01/01/07: Got into NYLS, took forever to get to me, it's nice to have choices. good luck to everyone and happy New Year.

01/03/07: Working out of the country right now, heading back to NY to visit NYLS, Rutgers-Newark, Howard. Will give update on the visits when I return.

01/03/07: Got home to my expected rejection from NYU :-( no surprize was a hail mary shot anyway so I am 2 up 2 down. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

02/22/07: Oh My GOD do I dear to dream waitlisted at Fordham. First Barack now this the "Cosby Age" is back, time for the black man to shine :-) Good luck to all.

Updates on law school visit: NYLS was not impressed, facilities were lacking and over crowded.
The place looked run down and admin officer who showed me around stressed if you are not in the top 10% of the class you pretty much are forgotten, no law journals, jobs summer or otherwise.

- If youre lucky to be in that top 10% then your golden.
- Don't believe the hype, that picture of the law school on their website is what the school is going to look like in 2020 :-(

Note to all, if you can, visit any law school you are seriously considering attending.

- Rutgers-Newark Law in one word "fantastic", loved the place, campus better than I expected. The campus is very isolated from the rest of Newark, beautiful law school building and facilities. I sat in a Const Law class very exciting, the admin people were great, professors and fellow students I met. Definitely my number one pick right now. Going to go visit Fordham and see what they offer.

Vist to Fordham Law School

Fordham was nice, in a great location, fantastic facilities and a great reputation in NYC can't really go wrong. However, it would be twice as expensive with double the commute time.

In the end I think Rutgers-Newark will be best for my family situation and ultimately my career as I am looking to practice in NJ.

Thanks for the positive words I am really excited; its nice to get the first one acceptance. No matter what happens from here I am going to Law School to fulfill my dream. Rutgers is one of my top choices, being a NJ resident the reputation/location/tuition make it very attractive option.

Yea, I am actually complete at Howard Law School! I have a friend who is doing her Ph.d there and says the campus is great. DC and boston (even as hardcore yankee fan) would be my two other location preferences.....

Wow

I am happy for you, brother...Rutgers is a great school. In fact, I used to go to the law library constantly to study. I apply for them also, since I already get accepted to IndyLaw, I think that I will go over there.

Congrats!

Is there anyway I can contact you? I'm interested in Fordham part time as well and have a relatively low LSAT score. Thanks!
