Please, please, please kindly withdraw if you've been accepted to Seattle Univ. and have no intention of attending.

04/01/06: Waitlisted at Willamette - thin busines-sized envelope. It must seem silly that I've withdrawn before hearing from other schools. I only recently moved to Seattle and have decided that staying here is a big priority. If I'm not accepted to SU this cycle I'm just going to have to suck it up, take an LSAT course, and hope for the best next cycle.
---------------------------------
04/17/2006: Someone who went complete after me just received a decision! Surely that means that I'll be hearing back soon, right? My status checker still says "decision pending."
---------------------------------
04/27/2006: "Decision Mailed" according to the SU status checker... nothing in the mailbox today. I suppose I'll know by tomorrow.
---------------------------------
04/28/2006: Waitlisted! I went home to check the mail on my lunch break to find the following letter from SU:

Dear xxx:

I am writing to inform you that the Admission Committee has reviewed your application for admission to the School of Law. At this time the Committee has asked to defer a final decision on your file until we have reviewed the entire applicant pool. We anticipate receiving over 2,500 applications for the 330 places in the 2006 entering class. As a result, competition for admission is intense. We have, therefore, placed your name on our Wait List. While the Admission Committee continues to give great weight to qualitative factors as a part of its review, quantitative factors also play a significant role in an applicant pool of this size.

As a Wait List candidate, your file will be returned to the Committee for consideration throughout the spring and summer, at which time final decisions will be made on selected files. The Wait List is not ranked and all students will be given equal consideration. You are encouraged to submit additional materials to supplement your application file. We suggest additional letters of recommendation and/or a personal statement addendum that may highlight anything of significance, which may not be addresssed in your original application materials.

We regret we are not able to extend an offer of admission at this time. However, you will continue to receive correspondence from us so that you are kept abreast of important information regarding your file and the status of the wait list. We hope your interest in attending the School of Law remains srong, and we appreciate your patience.

Sincerely,

Carol Cochran
Assistant Dean for Admission

I know it isn't over, and hear you me - I'm going to fight like hell. But I'm upset nonetheless. I feel exhausted by the entire process. Surely I'll find another burst of energy to write a supplemental essay after my sushi and sake binge tonight.

hi dani - I really enjoyed reading your profile last night. it seems like you want to go to SU about as much as I do. I took the LSAT in Feb., so I've got a lot of waiting ahead of me (and I'm already going crazy). I really do think you've got a great shot at getting in. I only wish I could trade you some of my gpa points for some of your LSAT points. Best of luck to you.

SU & Alt-Admission
Tuesday, February 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

I saw your post on danib's page. I was notified a week or so ago that I have been recommended to be considered for the Alternative-Admission program. It seems to be on a rolling basis (to be notified that you are being considered); however, from what i've gathered from other posts is that final decisions will be made be made on or before 4/15. I imagine they get the bulk of the regular notices out and then begin reviewing and awarding the 30 spots from the 300 (their numbers) individuals who have been recommend as an alt-admit candidate. A for-credit criminal law (i think) class begins in early June for those accepted. I hope this helps. More info on the school site (search under ASC(?) ). I googled the alt-admit program, too, and found some valueable info. (P.S. Long email and I had to file a brief today...my apologies for any typos).

hmm..

hey, are you sure this post was intended for me? I don't think I've posted anything on dani's page about alt admission. just wanted to make sure that your comment made it to the right person (c; -- thanks for stopping by.

Hey James, Thanks for the message. I am definitely stoked to have gotten into Seattle U. I was pretty sure I would be going to Gonzaga this fall, but now I think I'm leaning more towards SU. I hope Seattle U works out for you! Did you consider their part-time program at all? Here are some of my soft factors: -Phi Beta Kappa -Played in a touring rock band for 10 years -fair amount of community service -First in my family to go to college Also, I applied last year and didn't get in, so I retook the LSAT and reapplied this year. Luckily, SU takes the higher of the two. Anyways, good luck with the rest of the admissions process! Keep me posted on SU!

Hi, thanks for the message! I hope your acceptance to SU arrives soon as well! As for my opinions - I have never been to Seattle. I have family nearby and that is why I applied. The school also seems wonderful from what I have heard and read. Any insight about the school or city you could give me would be appreciated! Good luck =)

SU Waitlisted?

You were robbed! In response to your post, I checked the status online & it only said a decision was mailed on like April 15. But it was April 25 & still nothing in the mail. So I emailed them & someone in admissions told me the good news, much to my surprise! But fear not, I have my heart set on New York so you may soon have my spot. Good luck!
