Additional info & updates

25/05: Decisions, decisions! NYC, Chicago, DC????

15/05: BLS just offered me $ :-). It doesn't match Loyola, but its close enough to make me smile. The admissions staff and financial aid people have been so friendly and helpful. I'll decide this weekend. I'm also Withdrawing from the WL at Catholic and Cardozo.

Final Tally:
I think I would've done better if I had applied earlier, but there were circumstances at home the caused the delay. People say I should wait it out another year and apply again and hope for better results. No thanks, I'm happy with some of my acceptances and I'm ready to start law school in the Fall. If I were 22, I would consider delaying, but I'm a non-trad and another year puts me too close to what I think is too old to be just starting my 2nd career. I'm staying on some of the WLs until the end of July and I'll make my final decision then.

$ Spent: LSAT prep class ~$1000
LSAC app fees ~72
School app fees ~300
Prep books ~150 (but I'll get some of this back selling them
online!!)
Total = $1550 (not too bad considering how much some people have
spent!)

ACCEPTED (8):
Loyola-Chicago ($)
Richmond
Florida State
Northeastern
Denver
Pace ($$)
U of San Francisco
Brooklyn

Waitlisted (7):
American
Colorado-Boulder
Catholic
Maryland
Cardozo
Brooklyn (PT)

rejected (6) :(
George Washington
George mason
UC-Hastings
Notre Dame
Emory
Fordham

09/05: Yes, I've finally had an inital response to ALL of my applications! WL from Cardozo, I'll say yes to the WL until I talk to Brooklyn this week and go from there.

08/05: FINALLY heard from Brooklyn! Just as I'm telling the Chicago friends and family that I'm >50% sure I'm moving there! I think I'm IN for Part-time, but they said they'll put me on the WL for Full-time (funny thing is that I only applied for Part-Time, so FT would be an added bonus!) I still want to see what the BLS financial aid looks like though, and, I'm still going to wait out the American WL for a while longer. En fait, not much has changed since my last update ;)

30/04: $30k from Loyola Chicago, that makes my decision feel much better!

26/04: Sent in my seat deposit for LUC. Still have my fingers crossed that one of my other schools will come thru, but if not, I'm very happy with the idea of going to Loyola Chicago.

25.04: DING'd at Fordham via online status checker. My NYC hopes are still alive though, come on BLS!!!

21/04: WL at Catholic. Huh? Ok, I'll stay on for a little while, I really like DC.

19/04: Accepted at Denver! Missed the call yesterday, they want to know if I'll accept their offer by Tuesday!! That's a only 3 days to decide :-, ugh, so right now I'm deciding b/t Loyola-Chicago and Denver and any of the schools that I'm still on the WL. Thoughts?? I think I'm leaning more towards Loyola Chicago b/c of the city, and if I got into Colorado I'd go there over Denver.

17/04: WL at Colorado. I almost forgot I applied there! Gonna stay on the WL. I LOVED living in CO (though that I time I was a ski instructor and not locked in the law library all winter!). Boulder is such an awesome town, great weather, chill atmosphere, and so close to the slopes! And it meets my requirement for a smaller city being that it is very close to a major airport (I always need an escape route to get me to home to NYC or London or Paris when I feel suffocated)

03/04: Called Emory today, they told me my decision is in the mail...my crystal ball says DING! I've still got my fingers X'd that I'm wrong tho. I could give ATL another shot. I really want to get all this waiting over with so I can start house/apt hunting!

02/04: Rejected by Boston College. No real surprise there it was a real stretch. Gotta say though, their rejection letter...not nearly as nice and sincere sounding as the others! Update on Fordham, still haven't gone to committee!! DAmn that's a definite DING! :-(

30/03: Really just waiting on Brooklyn and Fordham...just sitting here twiddling my thumbs. I'm coming home to NYC this week and then going to DC for Easter. I think I'll stop by a few of the schools and check them out and pop over to the Admit office to see what's up.

27/03: Waitlisted at Maryland, better than a ding!! I'm gonna stay on the waitlist for a while to keep my options open. I need to visit Baltimore before I could commit though (I haven't heard the best things about the city)

26/03: Dinged at George Mason AND Notre Dame today...OUCH 2 in 1 day, that stings, I expected the ND rejection, though I really had my fingers x'ed for GM. Now I'll put all my wishin' and hopin' into getting of WCL's WL and getting into Cardozo, Brooklyn or Fordham!!

26/03: Got an email from Emory that my file is now complete (I figured that out a few weeks ago by calling!) and that letters will be sent out the first week of April...maybe I'll give living in ATL another try?

21/03: Accepted by University of San Francisco, probably withdrawing this week.

19/03: Dinged by Hastings via on-line statue checker. I wasn't ready to move out west anyway.

13/03: IN at Loyola!! :-D I missed a call on Saturday from a number I didn't recognize, did a reverse lookup and figured out it came from the Chi-town area. I only know a few people in the city and it wasn't them. Called today to check the status of my app and they nicely told me that my acceptance packet was in the mail!! Yipppppeeee! I'm definitely going to a T2 law school!! That's a weight off.

12/03: Accepted at Northeastern with $25,500 (over 3 years!!) wow, my first scholarship this is exciting!!

08/03: Rejected from GW :-(. ::Big Sigh:: I knew it was a reach...Moving on.

01/03: Waitlisted at American :-(. Better than rejected I guess. I'm staying on the WL. Finally complete at UD. Wow, that took forever for them to process my LSDAS report!

26/02: Called to check on status of apps that I didn't get "Complete" emails from. Still "Being Processed" are ND and Emory. The rest are "Complete" or "With Committee". The waiting continues. I don't know how everyone who applied early and still haven't heard are dealing with the waiting!! I'm stalking my mailman in anticipation!!

20/02: Phone call from FSU...I'm IN :-)! 2 down 18 to go!

19/02 I'm going to Law School!!! :-D My first acceptance came tonight. I got a call from the Dean at the University of Richmond, I think I was too shell-shocked to say much (they're probably going to retract that acceptance now ;-) )! Now I'm off for a celebratory glass/bottle of wine!

14/02 Applied late in the cycle. Praying it doesn't kill my chances of getting into law school.

22/01 I received fee waivers from almost every school I wanted to apply to. I guess there are times that it pays to be poor and living on baguettes and cheap wine.

I'm so happy about BLS. My original first two choices were Cardozo and Maryland, but I'm totally pumped about Brooklyn.

yes, I received an email mid-day and the snail mail acceptance a few days later.

hey!
Monday, February 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

hey, the exact same thing happened with me with Denver, i was so flabbergasted i didn't really ask any questions. So if we accept do they want our first deposit by next week, and then what about the second. I'm waiting to hear from Iowa and I'm not sure what I should do with it either!

DU?

What have you decided about DU? I noticed that you said they you had to decide by tomorrow? That is kind of a rushed decision! WOW! What have you decided? I am waiting on a decision from DU....I am supposed to be getting news any day....I hope anyway

Thanks on the congrats. I actually never responded to their WL letter and got in anyway. I missed the acceptance letter too b/c I was in Europe. But all is well. I have a job as a legal assistant and I LOVE it. I am so happy I am waiting a year, I just hope it pays off re-application wise. And congrats right back to you on Brooklyn!
