Additional info & updates

What the choice scale means:

1 - Top pick. An area I prefer to practice and live in. I absolutely love both the schools and the state/area associated with them.

2 - Second tier. Schools that I really like. I generally like the areas/state they place in. With $$$ they can overcome a 1.

3. Meh. Good school or area. Not really thrilled about these schools.

4. If I get in nowhere else and want to spend 120K I will go here. With this cycle I will not be going to a 4.

2/14/09 - Accepted @ USD by small white envelope. Nice personal letter. Good to know I am going somewhere. 3

2/17/09 - And the hits keep on coming! In @ University of Wyoming! Nice e-mail from the dean.

2/20/09 - Accepted @ St. Thomas. Came in large white envelope. I really like this school but the cost is way to high.

2/23/09 - Accepted @ University of North Dakota. I really like UND, I have family that lives in ND and I would love to practice in Bismarck. That said, I am really torn between Wyoming/North Dakota if Montana rejects me. If I get into Montana - it's over.

3/9/09 - Rejected at William Mitchell? WTF?! Whatever.

3/11/09 - In @ Gonzaga via snail mail w/ large white package/envelope. After attending a Catholic UG I was excited at the prospect of attending a Catholic/Jesuit Law School. Unfortunately, the tuition/Cost of Living are too high to make Gonzaga a competitive option for me.

4/16/09 - In @ MONTANA! So Excited to be a Griz! MT is my top choice and I will be attending! I have withdrawn everywhere else so I hope that helps other!!!

4/20/09 - Waitlisted @ UNLV. If I had been rejected from Montana I would be actively pursuing UNLV to get off the waitlist. However, I want to practice/live my life in Montana much more than Vegas. Sent Withdraw e-mail last night.

Final Thoughts - What a cycle! One odd rejection and in at my top school. It was a LONG and STRESSFUL process from studying to the LSAT up until my acceptance @ Montana. See everyone in Missoula this August!

I was incredibly relieved to get an acceptance. I am waiting on a few schools, but I think it may come down to money. UND, even without financial aid, is a very cost-competitive school. And I am actually from ND originally (moved to NY for undergrad and stayed after graduating), so it would be great to go back home! Good luck with Montana and the possible decision between NoDak/Wyoming--doesn't it feel great knowing you actually get to MAKE the decision?!

Thank You!

Well thank you for keeping me in mind with your St.Thomas withdrawal! I just sent them my LOCI on Saturday so that is perfect timing! =) The more I read about the area and how nice people are there....the more I root to get off the waitlist! What is your first choice? Congrats on all your acceptances!

thanks :) I spoke to Heidi yesterday and she said she was sending me a letter to see whether I'd like to be on a waitlist - after they receive all of those responses, they'll review the remaining files and rank the waitlist (or something like that). So more (likely fruitless) waiting... btw, do you know someone named Joy here in Billings?

Yep - I'm her roommate, which must make you her friend that went to Carroll... you have to love MT. Good luck at U of M!
