I would love to get into MN, but I may have come up a little short on my LSAT. If you have any suggestions for me about contacts, what to include in my personal statement, or general words of advice please let me know.

u of mn

the u of mn loves to hear about public interest/contributing to society, so mentioning that in ur personal statement would be a good thing (as long as you can back it up)... i think contacting the admissions person is also good -- show you're serious about mn (i think they get worried about people leaving mn cause of the winters & east coast law school competition) but... i haven't gotten in and i've annoyed them to death by goin overboard showing interest ... so i'm probably not much help.

I wrote my personal statement about Russia (I was a Russian major) and REALLY tailored it for U of M. I specifically listed programs, journals, and clinics at U of M that I would like to work on/participate in if I were accepted. I also applied to the joint JD/MPP program, so that might have helped, too. Good luck!

Thanx!

Thanks for the advice. I was a little worried but I think I'll be alright. Since your in the Midwest I wondered if you have any idea what are some good international law schools?

Non-trad PS

I think my PS is primarily going to focus on what my life goals are, how law school fits in, and how my current job fits into that. They say to write your PS about the biggest thing you'd talk about in a law school interview (if you had one) and the obvious question for me is "why law school and why now? It may be the same for you too. I am definitely going to address the non-trad student thing in my diversity statement though along with being a first gen. college grad, Canadian, gay, and growing up poor with a single parent. Good luck!!!
