Extra Curricular Information

Out of school for several years.

Leadership includes sorority elected officer (Skee-wee!), lots of involvement in animal rights environmental welfare groups.

Sole reason for wanting to be a lawyer is environmental/animal welfare (rights, really, for those who understand the difference).

Additional info & updates

Not a bad turnaround time at all for all my schools. 6-7 weeks total.

3/27 - Received notice of a substantial scholarship from Loyola New Orleans. although their environmental program is up-and-coming, I don't think I want to study law in New Orleans anymore. (Probably have Tulane to thank for that!)

Also got notice of $10k scholly a year from Hofstra. Thanks, but no thanks. Not nearly enough to stomach NYC cost of living.

I should go ahead and withdraw from MSU- I don't know what I am waiting for. They have just been so diligent and nice, and resourceful! They are definitely doing something right at that school. Hopefully they will break the top 100 soon.

AU, Vermont, L&C and the MD waitlist it is. I have 2 more weeks to decide! (Probably not AU, though).

03/05 Accepted to Vermont this morning via status checker.Sigh...another big decision! Will definitely have to visit the school to see what it is like...

03/04 Thin envelope from Baylor with my rejection. No surprise there.

Went to an alumni/admitted student's reception at American- it was very good and gave me some very very useful information. The alumni were very positive about the school and their experience, and the Dean gave a very compelling speech that highlighted AU's status as an international draw for those wanting to study law. He described the breadth of opportunities available to WCL students in school as well as out of school, and spoke positively about the faculty at the school their practical experience.

Oh, and a lot of the alumni compared WCL students to their Georgetown counterparts and stated that a lot of the GULC students were not happy there and that they envied the opportunties available to the WCL law students.

3/03 So received an email 10:30 EST today with a waitlist (read, soft reject) from Pitt. It stated that 10% - 25% are accepted from the waitlist. I really had no intention of going there (don't know why I applied, fee waiver I guess). So I emailed them back immediately and withdrew my app. Will probably get rejection from Baylor in mail today.

So... will it be American? MSU with the money? Will I make it off the MD waitlist? And what about VERMONT? No word! Only time will tell..,

3/01 First rejection, from Tulane. I knew it though, because my status checker said Decision Made and did not have congrats or anything. Oh well. No gulf coast schools for me, then. I also feel a rejection coming from Baylor. Not returning to my home state, afterall. Oh well...

LSP, by the way, before I started...

DENY to all the schools above except Pace, Vermont and MSU and Loyola, which were Considers. But I got into American and Hofstra outright!
(I know this is a foolish observation, as LSN feeds LSP anyway).

2/24 Received waitlist e-mail from Penn that sounded optimistic. I withdraw my application by responding to the email. First waitlist... ouch!

2/23 Discovered my acceptance to Pace via an invitation to join the Facebook page, then received the package in the mail on Feb 24. Status checker was updated to decision made. Letter in the package indicates that scholarship/aid information to follow under "separate cover" but gave no inkling as to when to expect this.

2/22 Accepted to Hofstra via EMAIL! Wow... the letter should come in the mail later... so we'll see! Yay!

2/4 In review at a lot of schools right now so hope to hear something soon. The waiting game is grueling (guess I should have applied MUCH earlier!)

2/3 IN at Michigan State via phone call. Caller indicated I'd received a 50% scholarship, which I've annualized over 3 years to $48k. Nice, it is an up-and-coming school.

2/2- My status went to In Review today at University of Maryland ... with tomorrow's date (2/3) Hopefully it will be quick like American's good news. (And be, indeed, good news!)

1/30- Got my acceptance to American via USPS Priority mail today! Thank goodness the post office delivers in the snow! WHOO- first official acceptance! God is good!

1/29 - Decision Made at American! Official mail-man stalk begins!

1/23 - All applications that I will send out are sent. Done! Here's to hoping and praying! Thank goodness I serve a living God!

1/21- File pending committee review @ Hofstra

numbers slightly fudged, will update at end of cycle.

I have been working for the state of Ohio for 2.5 years in environmental law, and want to do it for good. I assume you want to as well? what other schools are you looking at?

At Maryland how long did it take for you to be considered in Review? Good Luck! I really want to attend VLS! I also am interested in Environmental Law, I want to work in Land Use area. Are you doing the JD/MELP? I have opted for this...hard to wait to find out.

It does seem somewhat boring I called them last week and they said it should be decided on a friday soon. It is starting to drive me crazy, and I am thinking LC might beat them to the decision

What quarter of Baylor are you applying for?

Good Luck

We have similar numbers and both applied later in the cycle so I just wanted to wish you good luck on the rest of your cycle! And a big CONGRATS on American! I am waiting to hear from them too. This waiting business is killing me : )

I'm applying to DePaul in Chicago...and thinking about Hofstra. The only thing that worries me about going up north is the winters...when it's cold I don't want to get out of bed lol

FYI, Vermont just let me know (status) that it was a negatory. Stings and I don't understand, but updating you none the less

It doesn't bug me too much, but the fact that they were my 'easiest' Elaw to get into worries me

Unfortunately I probably won't be able to go to any of the events this month just because they are during the week and I have to work but let me know your impression of the school. I haven't been able to do a campus tour yet so I'm interested to hear what other people think.

American

I'm probably going there. Are you?

Good luck deciding...

between VT and Lewis & Clark. I'm still likely going to American. I'll attend the accepted student day on the 23rd. I'll keep your comments in mind. Your comment was the first time I heard anything about their library being small.
