Extra Curricular Information

Just wanted to create a profile for all the people that had a shitty GPA. I'll create a summary after it's all done. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. It's not impossible!

- CSUN transfer
- UC Riverside grad
- No extracurricular activity
- Revised personal statement 6 times
- Worked throughout college

What I did...
I do recommend having a group of people that are relentless in studying. I personally did Testmasters. I hear blueprint is also pretty good. They're pretty expensive, but think of it as an investment towards the future. That's how I felt, therefore, I spent the money. My buddies and I met through Testmasters and basically took four-five hours M-TH and studied when there was no class. We took Friday off, but on Saturday and Sunday did 6-8 hours. A month before the exam, we took practice exams nearly everyday and sometimes two or three. One more thing, have good letters of recommendations. It is imperative that you write a good personal statement. I went through 5-6 revisions. I got a lot of advice from people and proofread it like crazy. I wanted the essay show what exactly what I wanted to convey and it worked. The personal statement shows what kind of person you are and it gives you a chance to explain your weak numbers. Don't exactly explain the weak numbers but prove to them that you got through everything despite challenges. Talk yourself up. I believe some schools wouldn't have given me a second look, but my essay stood out. Hope this helps.

Good luck to all!

My Thoughts....
03.04.10
- Having a mental breakdown... f*ck this is stressful....

03.19.10
- A sigh of relief. I'm going to LAW SCHOOL!!!!! Anything is possible.

03.22.10
- Got the packet from Ohio Northern. With my stats, I didn't think I would get into a Tier 3 school. Now, I don't know what to do if I get accepted to some of the in-state Tier 4s. Ohio Northern is also ranked 2nd in "most competitive." Will that hurt my chances if I want to transfer? What a dilemma. Hopefully a Tier 3 in California will accept me. That will make my decision much easier.

03.26.10
Sent in my deposit to Ohio Northern. This buys me time to see what happens to the other schools.

03.25.10
- Charlotte plus scholarship.... Man, my decision is getting harder by the day. Why is it taking so long for some of these other schools to respond?

03.28.2010
- Ruled Charlotte out. Their tuition is insane.

03.31.2010
- 1,000 views! Woo-hoo!

04.08.2010
- I may have been waitlisted for Rutgers!!!! Oh my!
- No word from the other schools, I'm getting restless.
- Finishing up my waitlist response for Southwestern.
- La Verne is near my alma mata. They offered me good amount that I will not disclose. La Verne was my first choice considering my low GPA and mediocre LSAT. Now being accepted to ONU and waitlisted to some damn good schools, I have a situation. *sigh La Verne, you're like the rich diztsy girl. You're a young and attractive, but who knows what's gonna happen in a few years. ONU, you're the long distance relationship. Should I make the move? Southwestern, my girl next door. Why are you so iffy? We can make this work. How do I decide? Can anyone chime in???

04.09.10
- WTH? The box that says "waitlist reply recieved" disappeared from my status check on Rutgers Newark. *sigh.... probably got rejected after further review. I never received a letter from them. Rutgers, you are such a tease....

04.22.10
- Waitlisted for Rutgers Camden! Wow.

anon - they sent an email stating my file was complete and it was going to be reviewed on 02/12. They sent me a letter on 3/04 stating that I was being waitlisted. My 2nd LOR did not get in until 02/22. You definitely should contact them to see if your application was received. I'm guessing a letter on their decision should be on it's way...

mike, if you haven't tried, consider an LSAT prep course like blueprint or testmasters. it's a lot of money but it's a good investment for the future. i studied my butt off day and night and still got a 154. but.... you just need to crack about 150, you'll be good. being under 150 seriously hurts your chances. good luck! being an ex cop may actually help your chances. plus, you have a lot of real world experience to write about in your essay. i went through about six drafts and took about a month with people reading and re-reading my essay until i was satisfied. i hope you get into a better school than i did considering your gpa is not worst than mines. good luck!!!!!
