Additional info & updates

Grad grades are even lower than undergrad... (included short addendum explaining why)
Pretty good LORs
Rescored LSAT (got 2 of 3 points back--I skipped a bubble); LSAC reports resent on 12/03/04

SENT = transmitted via LSACD on the web
COMPLETE = emailed notice from law school or date on letter

CU Boulder acceptance came via mail--big envelope, $5K merit-based scholarship offer letter came later in a normal envelope

BYU acceptance came via email - small merit scholarship offer ($1.5k/yr) came about a month later

GW acceptance came via email - no notification of complete application status - noticifaction of $10k/yr Presidential Merit Scholar award came Feb 7. A one-time $5k scholarship offer came with FinAid offer in mid march.

Columbia came via mail - big envelope. Email and tons of stuff via mail came later. CLS was (I think) the only school where I sent all 3 LORs to--perhaps the 3rd, non-academic LOR gave me a boost.

All rejections came via mail in a standard-sized envelope (big envelope = good, smaller envelope = bad)

U Mich sent email regarding waitlisted status. Duke and Cornell sent a letter. (I'm pretty set on Columbia--I don't intend to pursue these schools any longer)

-Officially withdrew from CU-Boulder, BYU, U Mich, GW in early April, and opted out of waiting lists for Duke and Cornell

-FinAid package from Columbia came 4/25. The budget was pretty high ($70K+) which is higher than most since I've got a wife & kid. (GW never took family into account, which really turned me off...). Received $20K in grants presumably cause I'm poor :)

Good luck on pending apps.

Here's why you probably don't know me.

Longmont Stake. ;-) I was trying to find out what the numbers of LDS law students are @ CU. The guy who answered the phone at the institute said 2 are in the student ward, and maybe there's 5 altogether. But even an old fogey like me might benefit from registering in Institute - I could then use their parking lot!

Other places are a bit cheaper, but I think I'll end up going to Columbia for adventure's sake (I don't intend to practice in NYC, this could be my only chance to live there....) I'm visiting CLS and GW this week.

Congrats on Columbia

I've sent in my deposit, so it's official! Congrats on your acceptances. With all your options, you have a much harder decision to make than I did!

BYU?

Scottypancakes - I graduated with my MAcc (Accountancy) from BYU in December and it looks like we're both headed to Columbia. I also spent a couple of years in Brazil as a missionary. Where do you live now? I'm trying to get in touch with other students who may want to share a moving truck from Utah to NYC. E-mail me and we'll talk.

Again Congrats!!!

Columbia and Chicago told me that they would hold on to my application, but I am really excited about UVa. I heard that UVa accepted 26 BYU alumni this year, so I am hoping there will be a lot of us. Good luck.
