Additional info & updates

I have Texas on 'attending', because it's almost certain I'll go there. However, there could be a last minute hail mary from Yale or Stanford that might maybe change things, possibly. But the odds of me getting good news from either school are slim enough that I decided to just flick Texas over to attending.

"Decision" means "date received" (i.e., not postmark)

0 on 'Choice' means I withdrew from that school., post-acceptance or waitlist.

Email me at: lsat@exisle.net

Financial aid:
Texas: I get to pay in state tuition, plus they're giving me $5,000/year.
Michigan: $5,000/year
George Washington: Presidential Merit Scholar w/$10,000 year
Santa Clara: $16,000/year
Notre Dame: $15,000/year
UCLA: Included invitation to apply for URM scholarship. I did so. UCLA came in a big packet with *no* email (contrary to previous acceptances). Application to apply for scholarship came in separate small envelope.

I transferred to the U of A mid-academic career. While my cumulative GPA isn't great, my institutional GPA is a perfect 4.0; that's all PBK et al care about.

I'm missing a lot of sent/complete/decision dates because I'm making my LSN account relatively late in the application cycle. My apologies, but I didn't want to spend the hour or so it would take to compile the data; I just used what I had at hand.

Yale invited me to apply. Then, Yale asked me to fax my fall grades directly to their office. Finally, Yale has invited me to an online chat in the near future, where I can ask any admissions questions I have. I'm hoping that's a good sign.

Jurisdebt: Thanks for your congrats. I've added my scholarships to "Additional Information", and sent you an email. Judah-- Thank you very much!

Hi! You're my almost number twin!! Congratulations, esp NYU... I hope this means I have a chance there ;o)

Thanks all!

Hrm. I tried to post this and it didn't go through. Second try: Filaluna-- Thanks for the congrats! You may also be interested in fragolina's profile; we're number-triplets. Jurisdebt-- Thanks for the congrats!I expressed an interest in cyberlaw in my main essay. I then did my 'academic issue' essay on why it's so hard to cut back on spam. The issues are largely related, so it all worked together well. [My Yale 250 was on the same topic; we'll see how THAT works out.]

nr. triplet!

Omg, I'm so angry at berkeley for rejecting you! you were too awesome for them i guess you mentioned in an above comment that you were interested in cyber law. is that a subset of IP? I'm interested in doing patent law, which is part of IP

Thanks triplet!

It's cool. Boalt is a good school, but I'm already accepted into ones that are better (for my purposes). And yeah, cyberlaw, like patent law, is a subset of IP. I suspect, though, that'll be its own category soon enough, simply because it brings together so many different elements from different fields (IP, constitutional, criminal, torts.....).

lucky nr

Just realized today that three is a lucky nr, (i.e. clovers). wb has a show called charmed where there are three sisters who when they come together they make the power of three.... so, power of three for law school = lots of acceptances and scholarship offerings! I predict many more good tidings coming your way!

cyber law

Best of luck in the cyberlaw career. My PS was (in part) about my DMCA activism. It's an exciting area.

Thanks!

filialuna-- Good thought! However, I've always been more of an "Angel" fan. I suppose that means if I get into Yale or Stanford, I'll lose my soul. Hrm. Totally worth it. Underwhelm-- Wow! And you have an EFF credential too, very nice work. And yeah, I suspect cyberlaw will be interesting and lucrative. We'll really be getting in on the ground floor, so to speak. Good luck with the rest of your apps! :)

Tucson sucks
Friday, June 03 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm happy for both of us that we're getting out ... one way or another.

Yay non-Tucson!
Thursday, June 02 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, for sure. I look forward to being somewhere very, very far from Arizona. My family is still here, but other than that, I have no attachment to this state. Hopefully, we both end up at a certain school that starts with Y. We can dream, right? Tucson-bashing is fun! What's your least favorite thing about Tucson? I'm going to go with, "weather". I love walking in the rain. :). The fact that everything opens late and closes early would be a close second....

Congratulations!!!!!!
