Additional info & updates

(6/28) This is just a list of schools that I am considering. I will probably apply to at most 10 of these, but I would appreciate any advice about which ones to choose.

(9/7) Finalized my list of 10 today. I also spoke with my university's career counselor, who recommended I take Yale, Harvard, and Stanford off the list. Their admissions numbers are intimidating, but I think I need to take the chance. We'll see.

(9/16) Finished my Yale 250, last essay I needed.

(10/17) Completed apps. Now for the wait.

(11/29) Received my first acceptance to U. Mich. with a Darrow scholarship (full tuition)! Good sign?

(12/22) YES! Checked my e-mail on Monday and there was a message from Stanford. Then on Wed., got a call from Mr. Stock who runs admissions at HARVARD!!!! Happy, happy, hap-pay! Never thought in my wildest dreams it would happen. I mean, wow, Harvard. It's going to be expensive though, so I'll think about that and see what other offers I get in the meantime. Anyway, thanks to everyone who's been cheering me on and best of luck to y'all.

WAY too many schools

With your spectacular numbers and URM status, you will absolutely get into all three of Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, and almost definitely will get the Hamilton at Columbia, Darrow at Michigan, and one of the full scholarships at NYU.

Im shocked

I cant believe you are even claiming under represented minority considering your scores. I\\\'d have a little more pride than that.

Nice Answer

If you want to apply to 10 schools, I would advise removing Emory, UGA, Alabama, and Ole Miss from that list. In my view, unless you have some compelling family reason to be in those locations, applying to those schools is a waste of time and money. After that, you basically are left to decide whether you'd rather go to Harvard, Stanford, or Yale, which offer no merit based aid, or either Columbia, NYU, or Michigan for free. All of them offer a decent number of full tuition scholarships. UVA and Duke have some too (I believe called the Dillard and Mordecai, respectively) but they don't seem to be given out as frequently. Obviously nothing's ever guaranteed, but if the past two cycles are any indication, I don't see you NOT getting the Hamilton at Columbia or Darrow at Michigan. Good luck!

This is quite the impressive profile. I think the biggest problem you'll have will be choosing between HYS with no money and CCN with tons of money. Best of luck.

how's the cycle going?

I'm sure you're doing well. Have you heard from anywhere yet?

Good Luck

MAJOR GRATS!

... and yes, that "career counselor needs to get fired. Either s/he's a complete moron who knows nothing about law school admissions or is simply malicious. Either way, bad for all students and especially so for minorities.

WOW
