Additional info & updates

Created profile to keep myself organized and accountable, and because I've used this site a lot, so hopefully others will benefit from my experience.

1-23-11: Accepted to Duke! Was really expecting to be waitlisted, so this is a huge relief, and I am very grateful. I wrote the optional "Why Duke?" essay, which may have helped.

2-11: In at Northwestern via email! Wrote two optional essays.

2-12: In at Georgetown! Received letter in mail.

3-10: Received scholarship offers from Georgetown and Duke this week. Feeling quite blessed! Wondering when I will hear back from the rest of the schools, but truly thankful to have fantastic options.

3-14: First rejection: Stanford. not surprising, but still disappointed.
Also received email from Columbia saying my application is on "hold." I'm glad that I wasn't outright rejected, though. (First two rejections on one day would not have been fun. )

3-18: Waitlisted at UMichigan (wrote an optional "Why UM" essay). Will probably decide by the end of the month whether to stay on the waitlist...

3-24: Rejected by UChicago. Kind of sad about it; I have a lot of respect for the school, but it wouldn't have been a good fit.

4-08: Waitlisted at UPenn.. will be sending an update/additional essay.

4-20: A couple updates - withdrew from Georgetown; received scholarship offer from Northwestern; waitlisted at Columbia...coming down to final decision time!

4-25: Waitlisted at NYU.

6-08: Finally heard back from Cornell -- admitted! Ironically, the first place I applied to too... Was not expecting that, as I was placed on "reserve" (hold) at the end of April. I sent a letter detailing my specific interest, which may have helped. Still on a bunch of waitlists... interesting process.
