Additional info & updates

5-13-09: Loyola is aggressively pursuing me. Getting calls from Criminal Justice professors and they upped my scholarship by $12,000 or $4,000/yr. Professor hinted that if money is the issue they may be able to up my $$, however I still don't think that even if they make Loyola significantly less than Hastings (which would require about another $10,000 worth of money), would I consider going to LLS; they opportunities at Hastings don't seem able to be overlooked.

5-1-09: Deposits down for Hastings and housing. SF-bound.

4-15-09: So, after declining UC Davis admission as the deadline was today; I finally realized that they put their financial award letter online instead of sending it via snail mail (as Hastings and Loyola chose to do). $10,000 grant and a $5,000 scholarship. Makes the cost of attending Hastings and Davis roughly the same (within a few hundred dollars), however it is still difficult to look over the opportunities that Hastings offers.

Hastings:
Within walking (less than 2 blocks) distance of...
City Hall
Federal Court
U.S. 9th District Court of Appeals
California Supreme Court
Local Court
A short walk (about 7-10 blocks) of the downtown financial district and SoMA, home to many firms.
Awesome burritos around town (especially in the mission).
2 streets up from the BART station and Market Street.

Only cons:

In the Tenderloin....but we have good security!

I think I've made up mind, barring any kind of spectacular package from the waitlisted colleges.

4-10-09: Its about 11pm...just checked my email and received a 10,000/yr Dean's renewable scholarship! FTW!!!!! That gives me about $17900/year! Goo Goo Ca Choo!

4-7-09: Received my award letter from UC Hastings. In addition to normal financial aid I'm getting a hastings grant for 3950/semester. Its free money that doesn't have to be paid back based on financial need.

4-6-09: Just got back from SF and Hastings. Wow. 99% sure I'm going to Hastings.

4-2-09: Flying up to SF tomorrow to check out Hastings and attend the new admit day. Yay. Also, checked Davis' status checker and I'm accepted! I'll check them out next week.

3-28-09: Bada bing! UCHastings acceptance. Yay.

3-26-09: Checked online status at Fordham: waitlisted. I'd like an acceptance now please.

3-21-09: Rejected at UCLA. Boo. Oh well. Was a big "reach" school for me.

3-20-09: Under review at Hastings (found out through an email) and should receive a decision soon. Also have been under evaluation at Davis all week. Here's to some good news this week.

3-19-09: USC Waitlist, Boston U rejection. Not a bad sign regarding my chances with Hastings.

3-11-09: Waitlisted at Boston College. A good sign; I'm not rejected.

3-9-09: Still waiting for anything from a school other than Berkeley or Loyola...and all my financial aid stuff was sent in before the deadline in March.

2-17-09: Berkeley's snail mail rejection. They admit to being subjective. Funny rejection letter.

2-16-09: Still waiting on other schools. Hopefully something comes in tomorrow over the long weekend (other than that Berkeley rejection letter). I think i'll end up going to Hastings, as long as I get in.

2-10-09: No letter, but checked application status for Berkeley and I'm rejected. It was a longshot anyway, oh well.

2-6-09: Accepted at Loyola! 63,000 over 3 years. Yay!

2-5-09: Just checked Loyola's website and they made a decision. Should know tomorrow or Saturday.

1-28-09: Under review at Berkeley. Ugh.

1-26-09: I had a dream last night that I got into Loyola with a 21k per year scholarship. Pretty sweet. Then I woke up =(

1-17-09: Checking the mailbox everyday religiously for news of an acceptance. As long as I get one then I'll be content.

1-14-09: Complete at Berkeley! Now I get to get my first rejection letter! Haha...um...hopefully not?

Took LSAT first time, on my birthday, in Vegas, for a 163. Afterwords I won a few grand at the craps tables and got drunk.

Disappointed that I missed 3 on logic games...which I usually ace. It may make the difference between me getting into some of the better schools.

1/10/09: Well that's what I get for waiting for one more letter of rec before I started sending out my app. I hope it doesn't screw up my chances too much.

Loyola is my lowest safety school. Hastings and Davis are my "ideal" safety schools; all the other schools are longshots, but i hope my URM status might help me to get in.

:( I've got slightly better numbers than you and I didn't get any money at Loyola! I'm jealous.

Nothing from them yet. I will post as soon as I hear something though. Good luck!

Yeah, I'd take a waitlist over a rejection any day. Hopefully we'll get in!

Congrats! How did you find out about your scholarship info? Did you apply for the awards or did they just notify you via email/snail mail that you received them?
