Additional info & updates

Kind of dropped the ball on my LSAT. I'm hoping my work experience and international exposure will hide my low score (a guy can wish right?). I've worked around the world and have some serious recommendations. Does anyone think this will help (try not to be too brutally honest, please!).

Good luck everyone!

1/12/2010: Sent out all

1/24: UW application is in review. Come on Huskies, show me some lovin'!

1/27: Received a missleading email from Wisconsin, "We are pleased to let you know...... that we received your CAS file."

1/28: Got a strange email from L&C, "The committee has reviewed your file, but has not yet made a decision." Any suggestions on how to move forward with these guys?

1/31: Woke up to an "unfortunately we are unable to grant you admission" letter from GMU. Not the best way to start a Monday, but regardless... we move forward and fight on!

2/16: Got home to see a medium sized packet in the mail from Seattle University. My heart started to race.. breaths became shorter... fingers a little sweaty as I open it... AND it ends up being an informational packet on financial aid... what a tease!

2/18: I received my "with 25 applicants for every available seat,we are unable to offer you admission" email from UIUC

2/25: Rejected at Hawaii by email... bummer, I heard that their 75/25 statistics can be deceiving..

3/2: Opened my mailbox and saw a small letter from CU. As my heart began to sink, I opened the letter and began to scan for those disappointing keywords like unfortunately, cannot, or unable. In an unexpected turn of events I saw that I was waitlisted. I know its not an acceptance, but hey... its not a rejection.

3/7: Rejection email from Wisconsin... at this point... if my waitlist at CU turns into an acceptance.. I will be extemely happy :)

3/11: Decision rendered at UW... now time to wait for the mail... please send some good karma my way!

3/15: Accepted at Seattle via status checker. Hoping to get my financial aid package soon. This throws a curve ball in my decision making.

3/15: Waitlisted at Denver. This is slightly confusing as I figured a waitlist at Colorado should be good enough for an acceptance at Denver. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

When did you graduate from Iowa? I actually earned my graduate degree in july 2009, so I am familiar witht he area and have to agree it is a great place. Iowa is more or less my choice, I am just waiting to see if any scholarships come through or what OSU and SC have to offer as well. Don't stress your LSAT score too much. It will be hard to get into a top law school because lets face it numbers over rule effort and experience. You will still get into a good law school wich is all that matters. good luck to you as well.

Thank you!

I can't thank you enough for the message. Iowa is in my top 3. The only downfall is my unfamiliarity with the MidWest. I will be headed up there in a few weeks to see what it holds. I appreciate you reaching out and contacting me with your opinion. It looks like you may be heading west! I hope your cycle goes well! Feel free to contact me. God Bless!

I received an e-mail at about 6:45 am, then I checked my status checker and it said "Decision Made." Not sure which one came first.

Thanks :) I emailed asking about my application since I'd been complete for a while/ CU is one of my top choices, making sure there was nothing wrong, etc. I got an email back that they were planning to mail my acceptance out that day. Good luck!!

On Iowa :)

I graduated from Iowa in 2008. I grew up in Davenport. What about you? I am definitely considering Seattle and I will be going to their admitted student day this month to check it out! Oregon is definitely in the running too though! A big state school could be fun again! I found out about Seattle through the status checker and then got the package a couple days later! Good luck this cycle! Maybe I will see you in Seattle :)

Decisions, decisions...

I'm waiting to hear scholarship info before I make my final decision, but I'm pretty set on Northwestern. I live really close to it, I can actually see it out my window, so that probably heavily biases me in its favor. ;)

Who knows!

Haha I am trying to decide where I want to be... I'm visiting Boston next weekend (I've never been there so that's kind of important!) and STL. If I love Boston, I'll probably end up there. If not, I'll likely stay in CO because I love it here. The only game changer would be UCLA and I likely wouldn't attend unless I could negotiate a tiny bit of $ out of them. We will see! Sorry to see your WLs from the CO schools :((((( I hope you get in!!!

I'm not sure that Iowa or CU are worth the price. I think I'll end up at Penn State

With your work experience you should really re-take the LSAT. stand to gain lots of financial aid to some 50-100 schools with just a few more point. (158-159)

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words! Good luck getting off the CU waitlist and with your pending UW decision! I'm sure with your work experience, the LSAT won't matter quite as much as someone coming straight out of their undergraduate work!
