Additional info & updates

1/21/11 - Met with BYU Law's Assistant Dean of Admissions, Dean Hernandez, this afternoon. Meeting went really well and we had a great talk. I was offered a spot in the class and should receive official information soon. I can't believe how fast the turnaround was for this application; I'm not even "complete" at a few schools yet!

1/28/11 - Got a call from Director of Diversity Services at George Mason University letting me know I was accepted! We had a great conversation about my application, and she was very helpful with a few questions about the area.

Update: $5,000 scholarship in official acceptance letter received a week later!

2/10-11/11 - Accepted to Case Western Reserve University via email on Thursday night. Scholarship information came Friday morning: Dean's Scholar recipient!

2/22/11 -

AM: Rejected via email from UVA. At least they are trying to reduce their reliance on paper...

PM: Phone call from BU letting me know I'm in! What a great way to turn around the (slight) disappointment from being dinged at my reach!

2/23/11 - In via Status Checker at W&M! Eagerly awaiting my packet!

2/25/11 - W&M packet arrived! Graduate Fellowship worth about $9,000 that reduces me to in-state tuition. $4,000 stipend and $6,000 merit scholarship! Great offer, and I love the opportunity to work closely with professors as a 2L and 3L because of the Fellowship. Might try my luck and negotiating a little more for the merit scholly once I visit Virginia next week.

2/26/11 - GMU scholarship letter in the mail. $10,000 renewable every year if I remain in the top 25%. Tough stipulations, but apparently they only give out 5-10% of students merit aid. I will speak with the Financial Aid Office at the upcoming ASD to find out more.

2/28/11 - Found out I'm in at CU Boulder! Letter was mailed a few days ago and I got it today. Scholarship: 1L - $24,000; 2L/3L - $8,000 (probably to reduce unsubsidized interest and to reflect in-state tuition the last couple of years).

3/17/11 - Waitlisted at UW.

Accepted at ASU! Scholarship: $30,000 - 1L; $15,000 - 2L (multiple mentions of gaining residency and reduced tuition after first year).

3/19/11 - Need-Based scholly info from BU came back. $15,000 per year, no stips except good academic standing and standard BU policies and procedures!

4/12/11 - Waitlisted at UNC. Promptly withdrew the next day.

4/15/11 - Received Agora login information a while ago and my account was updated this week with the financial aid info at BC. A healthy amount in need-based, subsidized, low-interest loans (Perkins and from the school) as well as a $28,000 law scholarship! Sweet fancy Moses!

Made initial deposits at BU, BC, and BYU to allow for further financial consideration.

5/11 - Increased scholarship from BU from $15,000 per year to $20,000 per year.

6/1/11 - Mailed off second BC deposit. I'm going to be an EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAGLE!

Hey congrats on your cycle! That is some great $$ at W&M. Have you been leaning towards going there?

Number 1?

I see that BU and BC are still listed as your top choices. Is that still the case? Congrats on all the offers! Only one rejection -- can't complain with that!

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the kind words! Thuxley, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. (I think LSN is still filtered as spam). I am definitely grateful for the award at W&M. It's still a top choice and I found an alumni to call and talk about it so we will see how that goes. I haven't heard about aid from BC yet, but BU is definitely in the running and I loved my visit there earlier this month!

congrats

Wow! Very nice options. Have you made a decision yet on where you'll be going?
