Extra Curricular Information

Graduate degree and linguistic proficiencies that appear to have only made a difference at Penn. :)

Additional info & updates

W&M - 1/24 - $14,240 renewable fellowship (notification by mail)
Temple - 1/31 - $10,000 renewable scholarship (notification by mail)
UofH - 3/2 - full ride & then some (notification by mail--sent to permanent address)
W&L - 3/7 - $10,500 annually (increases with tuition/academic performance)
Cornell - 4/14 - $14,400 annually

BC, USC, W&M, Temple, W&L, American - big admissions packet via USPS
Cornell, GWU, Penn - notification via e-mail, followed by admissions packet
UofH - e-mail, followed MUCH later by admissions packet
BU - message on answering machine (apparently I was supposed to have already received a letter--never got it)
UT - deferral by e-mail (guess they're tired of the prodigal daughter act)
Gtown, Duke, UT - rejection by mail
Michigan waitlisted me by e-mail after I withdrew my application two weeks prior. Whatever.

4/18: Cornell's aid offer changes the rules a bit. I am sure I would be happier in Philadelphia, but I'm not sure I'd be $43,200 worth of happier. Feel free to weigh in.

On your acceptances so far. You have really impressive extras with all that linguistic background!

Thanks!!

Georgetown is going to be cursed for not accepting you. Good job on the other acceptances~ Impressive array of language proficiencies too!

LOL.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Gtown was my first non-safety decision, so I went crazy and applied to more schools. Seems silly now. :)

WM Fellowship

and Penn has seemed really hard this year. its quite an accomplishment to get in there. did you write the why penn essay?

Why Penn Essay
Monday, April 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

Didn't do it. Submitted an edgy academic diversity essay with which I've had mixed results (Duke apparently didn't like it). :)

Hopefully I will see you

Penn v. Cornell
Wednesday, April 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

Did you go to either Cornell or Penn admitted weekends? Is it definitely Penn over Cornell for you?

Penn vs. Cornell
Monday, April 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

I attended admitted students weekend at Penn (which super fabulous), and I will attend Cornell's weekend. I am leaning toward Penn for several reasons, but we're still a few weeks from drop-dead date. :)
