Yeah, I'm waiting on recs and still working on essays. When do you plan on getting your stuff in? Good luck!
Did you get your second rec yet? I'm still waiting on all of mine. I think I'm going to ask them to fax, I'm afraid it'll take forever otherwise!
good luck with the cycle! we are almost stats twins.
Yay on G-town. :)
on Harvard!!!
that you got in so quickly given our similar numbers. i was a bit late on getting my apps in, but hoping to catch the next batch of interviews. congrats!
Thanks! Congrats to you too, I'm sure we'll meet in real life now! I definitely have some sorting to do in terms of all the schools I applied to, I'm sure there are some schools that I just wouldn't go to anymore. Money's a big factor for me though, so I'm definitely not feeling like my cycle's over or anything, but the wait sure feels easier now. Have a good Thanksgiving, and hopefully we'll both get more acceptances for Christmas!
Hi Tyutchev... haha, a ti tozhe russkii? Good job, dude! Congrats on Harvard!
That last post was mine.
Congrats!!! I lived in SF for a while and Stanford is just a spectacular place!
Your withdrawing so quickly from georgetown inspired me to send in my withdrawal email to American tonight. There's no point in making more people wait longer when I know I won't attend, even with lots of money. Good luck on your pending apps; you've had a great cycle so far.
Congrats on great cycle thus far. Good luck with Yale.
I actually tutor Russian :-) Thank you, I'm definitely gonna need luck)))
Good job. One more to go?
Congrats on your acceptances, especially Stanford and Harvard! If you don't mind me asking (I'm applying next cycle and seeking advice), how good were your softs? Any fellowship wins, publications, leadership positions? Were your recommendations spectacular? How did you package yourself? Feel free to PM me if you prefer that. Please help a future applicant out!
Our cycles are almost identical! Although you've been waiting a bit longer than me, I guess at this point it's all a wash. I do wish Yale would just say something, even just a we haven't forgotten about you email. Sometimes I think, what if they lost my application or something, but then I realize there are still lots of people in the same boat and they couldn't have lost them all. On a slightly different note, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Harvard v. Stanford. I switch back and forth every single day, literally. I think my natural inclination is Stanford, but Harvard does such a good job of connecting you to students and alumni to talk to and almost each time I talk to one of them, I fall in love with Harvard too. I know it's a great dilemma, but I just don't know!
I completely agree. HLS has the upper hand in terms of resources in my area of interest. But I really like the thought of going to a small school on a more intangible level, I like SLS more. Both schools know how to wage a propaganda war, that's for sure. Yesterday I received an email from a professor at SLS who is just amazing and one of the main reasons I applied to Stanford. But on Monday I talked to this amazing alum from Harvard who just made the place sound even better and offered to connect me to a friend of his who shares my area of interest, which is just going above and beyond in my mind. Aah, I just don't know! I am definitely going to the ASW, I feel like these things have been really informative and helpful so far. Also, since Stanford is so small, I feel like the ASW really is a chance to meet your future classmates. I don't know where you're flying from, but Stanford reimburses up to $400, which should cover you from pretty much everywhere in the US I think. I'm from the bay area, so to me, it's a free flight home and I don't have to pay for a hotel since I can just take the train into Palo Alto, though I definitely see how with paying for hotels, these things really begin to add up. Anyway, I hope you can get out to visit. Keep me informed of your thoughts, if you get any clarity on the situation!
on the awesome stats! Good luck with the cycle!
