No idea yet. I hope to have a better idea by April though!!! :) Good luck with your cycle.
No actually, I took a Powerscore course in the Bay Area. I had an amazing teacher, really knew her stuff. Did you like the testmasters class?
Yale baby! I'll probably just go down the U.S. News rankings, ha. Good times. Did you get Duke Priority Track? By what I've been observing, it seems as if that's a guaranteed acceptance.
Thanks for the comment. Veritas is a great motto!
congrats on getting your apps in :) our numbers are really close - i'll be cheering for you! good luck :)
thanks! i appreciate it - i'm sure you will be getting lots of good news soon.
Not at all. I applied to be an academic scholar at the institute for int'l law and justice. Not sure how competitive these scholarships are, or even what I would do in the unlikely event that I got it. Anyway, good luck on your cycle.
Sorry for the mess on your board, just wanted to tell you-- molodchina i udachi s garvardom. Otlichnye ocenki
Sublime IS awesome! Good luck on your cycle dood!
esli garvard ne primet there's always hofstra :)
Don't even worry about it. You'll get there
Thanks for the congrats on the score! I'm in for next cycle because my stupid school won't let me graduate in April, so I have to wait.
Any of them would be great. What about you?
I'm not actually Russian, but I lived there for a while. Good luck with the rest of the cycle!
Don't be too worried about Duke...They pretty much got back to me on the last day.
Oh no! Well, you've got great numbers, so I wouldn't let it get you down. You'll probably get in some place better than Duke anyway.
No, I didn't write a why Duke, but I wrote a diversity essay. I also applied really early, like around the beginning of October. It looks like they started waitlisting a lot of people recently, but I really couldn't say for sure what it is. Some places just make weird choices.
If you want scary, here's something: I checked my LSAC account randomly today and realized that they had the wrong GPA on file for about 2 months (about 0.1 lower than it actually is). Luckily I got them to fix it, but it's a miracle I even found it.
Yikes, that is indeed scary Well, did you write the Why Duke essay? If not, then don't fret, you'll definitely get into some top law schools that don't ask such damn questions.
about duke, prolly yp
on Georgetown.
No idea yet. I'd love to go to Michigan or Virginia, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. You?
Well, if NYU isn't happening for you, then it certainly isn't happening for me...
That may be true, but it looks like TylerDoom's app was too much for Bill Hoye to handle :)
Thanks a lot! Are you visiting Georgetown at any point? I went this week and was pretty blown away.
It just seemed like they have everything. The student body is huge, so they have the most clinics and most classes. Then they are in DC, so you can hear lawyers practice their cases for the Supreme Court at the school. Then they have their own public interest office. Additionally, everyone was really excited to be there, and I was surprised how many of them had turned down higher ranked schools (NYU, Boalt, Michigan, Virginia) to go there. Basically, they set a really high bar for other schools to meet.
oh word. late response, but congratulations on georgetown! i'm very excited about that school as well
hey tyler, thanks for the post - I'm really excited by the way the cycle's going. As of now, I've decided to definitely go east coast to make long distance shorter with my SO (he had the choice between Boston and San Diego, and we decided there was a better chance for us to be able to be together if he chose Boston). So, right now I'm leaning towards Penn, but waiting to hear from NYU. I doubt Columbia or HLS could happen with my gpa, but I'm still crossing my fingers!!
Some may say EX luck, I say EX badassness :). Any word on Harvard?
seriously, gtown is a great school and you're already in there. UCLA is a lock and it looks like you'd be happy there too. plus, you gotta plenty of schools yet to hear back from. the good news will be coming soon, no doubt.
Penn is really weird about how they admit people...the places that are waitlisting and rejecting you right now are definitely yield protecting, and most other places don't do that, so sit tight :)
Hey, Congrats on G'town! I'm waiting to hear from them still. I noticed that we are both on the WL (priority reserve?) at Duke. Any idea what the chances are of actually getting in off the WL? If so, any clue as to when we would be hearing back from them? Thanks, and good luck on the rest of your cycle!!!
Haha, probably not... I guess it's just a pride thing :).
Good luck to you too! I know that with your numbers you're going to have some awesome choices!
you pimp!
Congrats :)
OMG, congrats on Georgetown and U of C. That U of C acceptance was probably a huge wait off of your shoulders. I'm sooo happy for you :). I'll probably be at NYU this fall, unless something strange happens with HYS. Here's to hoping you can join me!
i spelled "weight" ... wait *sigh* i've been staring at my computer screen for too long
Congrats on Chicago - here's to hoping for a big week this week!!!
and congratulations on chicago yourself, mr. doom! i'd say i'm about 89% sure about uva.
hahahaha i just read your 2/23 Chicago update in the additional info box and it had me laughing...thanks for the SC congrats, here's hoping for more mail!
rg!! :)
Thanks! Congrats on Chicago, that's really awesome!
Hey! I submitted maybe mid-late December, and I heard back maybe 2 weeks ago. Big on USC, eh?
I'll see you in the city.
lol - yeah, thanks - in all honesty, I think it is Michigan or UVA for no matter what Chi says. congrats again on NYU, that is awesome.
Congrats on NYU!!! I didn't see until now because I was at Mich and Duke. Mich was pretty amazing, so I think I'll probably end up there.
Yeah, Michigan just seemed like a really strong community. The downside was that most people (like, 70%) had work experience, so it was harder to relate to people, but that also made them more interesting. The other downside is the location in a really cold, somewhat isolated part of the country, but that only seemed to build the strength of the community (both among students and faculty) further.
i noticed that you too are having to wait a long time to hear from those trojans...i am starting to think im getting rejected or waitlisted...and i am not happy about it
I envy your UChicago acceptance...You can just tell them that you are giving it to me :) Michigan is really weird about how it admits people...I think they put a lot of emphasis on the "Why Michigan?" essay.
And yeah, Ann Arbor is nice. There's a lot packed into a relatively small downtown area, and it is very close to the law school. The rest of Michigan kind of sucks, but I never have to go there so I'm fine with that.
Wow! NYU!! Well done!:)
wow with nyu and chicago...congrats!
Hey! Nice job on NYU!
So how's the choice coming? Are you set on NYU? I wish NYU would just waitlist me already, I've been waiting forever. Same with Harvard and the impending rejection.
Yeah, I hope so. Some people were rejected with a 170, 3.7, though, so that doesn't look good for me. I've been complete for 5 months, though, so if they were going to outright reject me, they should have done it by now. 171 seems to be the magic number for NYU, so I'm probably a waitlist :(
I just had a dream that I was taking a tour of NYU.
waitlist at NYU
congrats on nyu!! are you headed to new york?
barring some waitlist miracle, i will be in charlottesville. chicago is a great city! it was the school that came closest to making me reconsider uva.
Hey, have you decided on a school yet? As much as I loved Michigan, I ended up sending my deposit to UVA.
Chicago!
I withdrew specifically so they couldnt reject me...i feel so cheated. btw u still gonna check lsn even when you're a lawyer? u love this shit.
You know, our numbers weren't that much different but we had pretty different (but both good) cycles!
Eh, I guess I'm hoping, but I don't think it will happen.
You don't need to hope, you've got Chicago! I guess I don't to some extent either...Columbia and UVA command really separate markets.
nah screw Boalt Chicago is where all the hot law school women are at i don't know how "professional" you want to keep this profile, so i kept the cursing to a bare minimum. that's how considerate i am
Let's see when you noticed this message
I'm disappointed You so slow, son. slovo
so does the famous ms. tyler doom check law school numbers incessantly even when she is in europe? let's see how long it takes her for her to see this message p.s. i finally got my damn cnet id. about damn time
gee golly! it took you a full week. shame
Tell me when you notice this message. It's currently 12/04/2009, 2:09am see you in Elements!
Hi! Thanks for your message, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful cycle as well. A TS1 is an initial interview with Toby Stock, the dean of admissions at Harvard. If you get an email about an interview, that's generally a very good sign. I'm not sure what the actual numbers are, but I think well over half of the people interviewed are offered admission. A TS2 is the second call from Toby Stock in which he tells you you're in. Good luck, hopefully you'll be hearing from TS soon!
