Additional info & updates

Here is my 2 cents on the whole process:

Every school claims to look beyond the LSAT for their applicants. A few schools actually do, but most rely on the LSAT heavily.

I felt that my extracurriculars were impressive and that they were the strongest part of my application. I had great letters from notable pro coaches that I had played for, pilots I had flown with, etc. My personal statement was polished to maximize the value of my soft factors.

But look closely at my numbers. Every safety school I applied to (relative for my numbers), I got into. My 50/50 schools mostly waitlisted me. My reach schools rejected me, with one exception: Arizona.

I fall below the LSAT and GPA medians for Arizona, but I was accepted. Clearly, someone at Arizona took a chance on me in looking past my numbers.

My point is this: I am convinced (in looking at the graphs on this site) that the guy (or gal) who goes to a ho-hum undergrad school, does a ho-hum job with their grades, has no interesting story to tell, but had a couple points better on his or her LSAT, gets into the better schools. It is rare for the school to actually look beyond the numbers and consider the whole package.

we should definitely start one. It's so depressing because it's my top choice and i'd kill to go there. sadly our chances don't look too high. i've been talking to some students who woaccerk in the admissions office and they had a huge amount of students make first seat deposits and their ASD was the largest in the schools history... :( but sitll... we must keep the hope alive... :) you have some great options though. where is your first choice? Arizona is a fantastic school.

well I don't know if you'll be able to surf every day or even go to the beach once a week, but yeah Pepperdine is great. Personally I don't care for Malibu and all that smog over the beach. But, I'm from OC and I'm just biased. :) No matter what, you're in good shape. I just wished that we didn't have to wait until at least mid-July. I'm also scared they won't pull anyone out of the waitlist, like last year. That would really bum me out. :(

it looks like we're having a pretty darn similar cycle... goes to show numbers is really all that matters. :( Are you going to stick to all the waitlist or just a few?

I'm doing the same thing. I withdrew from all the other waitlist and only sticking with Pepperdine and SD, ranked in that order... ;) Good luck. Hopefully we both get good news down the line. I really hate this waiting game. :(

Congrats on some great school option! I'm currently WLd at Davis and am asking that if you don't plan on attending to please withdraw. Hopefully this wil create a spot for me this Fall. Thanks!!!
