Extra Curricular Information

I serve in one main leadership position as president of the pre-law society on my campus, but I am heavily involved in other organizations on campus. In addition, I helped to begin a mentoring program with two of my mentors that serves Upward Bound programs in the greater Metro Atlanta community. I hope that my leadership and life experiences separate me from other applicants and gets me into one of the T25.

Everyone else seems to be doing this so I might as well see how I do for fun...

Additional info & updates

5/23/2012-I have just been accepted off of Indiana's waitlist with a $15,000 scholarship.

4/25/2012-Placed on reserve at Columbia and accepted at Rutgers-Camden. My cycle is only beginning. Now comes the waiting period.

4/12/2012-Waitlisted at UPenn!!! I have never been so excited over waitlists in my life. I feel like I'm facing a dilemma though: should I wait out the top schools and hope my June LSAT makes up for it, go to UGA or Howard, or take a job and reapply in a different cycle?

4/12/2012-Waitlisted at NYU!!!!!! I am definitely riding that out. I could now care less about my recent Georgetown rejection...

4/3/2012-I was just waitlisted at Minnesota and Indiana. Things are looking up; maybe I'll just ride out these lists and see what happens.

3/27/2012-I was just waitlisted at Emory and accepted into Georgia State. I just registered for the June LSAT and am about to begin my prep class.

3/14/2012-I decided to take a little break from LSN and TLS, but I guess it is time for another update. I was sent a very personal email from the University of Chicago explaining why I was not offered admission (I thought that was sort of odd, considering that they are not known for doing that until after recruitment season). However, based on that email, I am strongly considering retaking the LSAT in June and applying for the next cycle. My GPA does not even take into account last semester's grades, and if things continue for me the way they were, I can graduate with a 3.5. I was hoping someone could offer their opinion as to whether or not this is a good idea.

3/1/2012-Waitlisted at W&L. I thought it would be a flat out rejection, so I'm glad that I'm somewhat biting in the T20s.

2/29/2012-Just got accepted into Howard with $$$!!! I am extremely happy to hear some good news after being rejected by Michigan and Boston University. Hopefully this good trend will continue.

2/28/2012-Just got rejected from Michigan. Not too disappointed because I expected it, but I am really contemplating retaking this LSAT in June and applying early next cycle.

2/18/2012-Just went complete at all the law schools I applied to. I feel like my numbers are low for this cycle, but I am still holding a hope that one of the T20 or T25 will bite. I also just received my invitation to interview for SEO and UPenn (over the phone), so I suppose that this has been a good day (outside of the weather that made me really change my evening plans). I wish everyone continued luck on their cycles. God bless!!!

2/15/2012-Just been rejected at Boston University. First rejection and from a T25. Hopefully this isn't indicative of the rest of my cycle...

2/8/2012-I have just been waitlisted at Maryland. I am highly interested in working in that region though, so I will send that LOCI soon. Still hoping for the best.

2/6/2012-I was accepted to UGA fairly quickly, as well as Wake Forest. I was hoping someone could comment on whether or not I had any shot at getting into any of the T20. I really want to go to either UChicago (pretty much out of the question), Georgetown (someone really close to my numbers got in) or Minnesota. I am excited about UGA being a possible back-up choice though because I love their campus and wouldn't mind working in Atlanta or the Southeast.

Congrats on UNC!! When did you apply? Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

I applied in November and didn't hear back until February 1st. I hear that they have an extremely slow turnaround time. Thanks and good luck to you too!!!

Thank you

God can definitely do great things, if we just trust him. Congrats on your cycle so far. Hoping to see more acceptances coming your way. Many blessings

As far as your question about getting into the top 20 schools definitely consider applying to Cornell, they tend to look past numbers and really value diversity which helps you out as an URM. BTW congrats on your cycle so far and good luck getting into the rest of your schools :)

Thanks! I thought it would be too late to really apply to any more schools, but I may give Cornell a shot. I think that applying late hurt my chances almost as much as my numbers, only because I am getting word that URMs with similar numbers are breaking the T20.

Having a pretty solid cycle so far. Planning on the June LSAT...gonna putting law school off another year?

I don't really want to. Alot depends on what happens with the rest of my cycle. I have five schools that I really wanted to go to, and if I get into one of them I would probably just go ahead and go. I didn't have to pay for the June LSAT out of my pocket so I registered just in case so I could apply earlier for the next cycle and (hopefully) earn a higher score.

Oh if I get into Vandy I will attend no questions asked! Unfortunately seat deposits for schools are due next week so I needed to go ahead and make a decision just in case I don't get in off the waitlist.

that's so true. That's why I'm so concerned with the fact that I haven't heard back from some of my other schools yet. I think I might as well just give UGA my deposit too.

Tuesday, June 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

Exactly! I mean the deposit at Georgia is only $50 unlike some other places where its like $500 so it seemed like a good choice lol. Which school is your first choice?

first choice
Monday, February 06 2012 at 07:00 PM

I did not get into my first choice school. However, with the schools that I got into, my first choice would be between UGA and Howard. But out of my waitlist, if NYU calls, I'm going.
