Additional info & updates

-First and foremost: Never let anyone tell you your score is not good enough to get into the law school of your dreams. I've already gotten into schools where my numbers were below even the 25th percentile! Always shoot for the stars!

- Received fee waivers from almost every school I applied to through email. However, some schools never informed me I had a fee waiver until I was in the last stage of checking out with LSAC and I noticed the fee was waived. Based on my numbers I will most likely not be accepted to many schools that sent me fee waivers but I applied anyway!

- Sent most of my applications on 9/29/11 and will send the rest 10/1/11. My LSAT score is nothing to laugh about but it's not as high as I had hoped so I'm applying early in the hopes that I get accepted to some of my reach schools!

- Accepted to the University of Tennessee today (10/10/11) via phone call. I guess they will be sending a letter soon? I'm genuinely excited about this one, go volunteers!

- In at FSU today via phone call as well! (10/11/11) Great to know I will be going to law school somewhere! :)

- In at Suffolk on 10/14/11 . Had no idea until I checked the mail today (10/18/11) and saw a little envelope. Suffolk is a little far away for my taste but if they give me a significant scholarship I would definitely go!

- In at the University of Miami Law today (10/25/11). I recieved an email telling me to check the myUM account. I logged in and saw an acceptance letter! :)

-11/19/11: Several people have gotten acceptances to UGA and I'm beginning to worry that I might not get in :( :( :(

- 11/22/11: Got my first "you only got into Law School because you're black" comment on my page today. I knew it was only a matter of time lol

-12/2/11: IN AT UGA VIA STATUS CHECKER!!! God is soo Good.

-12/3/11: Forgot to write this earlier but I'm currently "File reviewed, No Decision Reached" at Florida as of 11/26/11.

-12/8/11: In at Mercer via status checker!

-12/9/11: FULL TUITION SCHOLLY AT MERCER! notified via email with an official letter coming soon. Very tempting...

-12/9/11: Also in at Georgia State via status checker. What a great day!!

-12/9/11: In at Wake Forest via email! What a blessed day this has been!

-12/15/11: In at Temple via email

-12/16/11- Probably won't update for a while unless I'm notified by email or status checker. All my law school letters have my schools post office address on them but they are closed for all of break AND they wouldn't let me forward the letters to my home address so yea...happy holidays everyone :)

-12/21/11- Had my Vanderbilt interview this week. The alumni was amazing and very easy to talk to! After the interview Vandy is very high on the list. Also decided no to withdraw from Miami after receiving an email saying I received a scholly. Called up there and found it out it's a $20,000 scholly with a 3.2 gpa stipulation.

-1/13/12- Rejected from Penn today via email. Dang I guess they didn't want to waste stamp money on me lol

-1/19/12- Placed on reserve at Cornell. It's DEFINITELY better than a rejection so I'm content :) AND I will definitely be sending in additional transcripts and recommendation letters.

2/10/12- notified via email of a $10,000/ year scholly at FSU.

2/27/12- In at UF! The acceptance letter is dated 2/20/12

3/5/12-Waitlisted at Vandy via snail mail and notified of s scholly increase from Miami.

3/22/12- Just waiting on UNC and USC and then my cycle will be over!!

4/3/12- Thus my cycle comes to an end. I hope this page will serve as an inspiration to those that have numbers similiar to mine and are applying to law school! Never let yourself be defined solely by your numbers.
And oh yeah.....
It's great to be a Georgia bulldawg :)

UPDATE. 4/26/12- So I assumed I was rejected at Duke because they never emailed me any info and, I've heard people say that sometimes Duke lets you know you weren't accepted by simply not sending you a letter. BUT today I received an email from them saying I was waitlisted so yay! Only two rejections from Penn and Cali. Not too shabby :)

* Scholarship amounts are yearly*

Beginning to think applying to 17 schools was a bit excessive lol

Congrats

Looks like things are heating up for you. Congratulations on the acceptances. May you receiving many more! Good luck, and thanks for checking in. (by the way, you're LSAT score means nothing in terms of how you will excel professionally with a JD--I'm no dummy but I could not, for the life of me, raise my score higher than a 157! So be proud of your 159!)

Hey

Yes. Georgia State law is my first choice because of the in state tuition! You can't beat it with a stick. However, my 1st choice out of state would be FSU, I live only about 65 miles from Tallahassee and probably wouldn't have to move, just commute. I'm currently waiting for my 3rd LSAT score and hoping it, along with my compelling personal statement and maybe a little of my graduate school stuff, will get me in there. Guess we'll see! Anyhow, congrats on your recent acceptances and I hope you continue your success!

How did you receive merit based fee wavier?

I see that you're having an awesome cycle early on! Looks like you're only problem is going to be deciding where to go and which school has the best financial/scholarship offers! Hope I have the same problem! LOL!

Hopefully!

Hopefully you'll see me at GSU Law in the Fall. As far as them looking at your applications wrong...I hardly doubt that...BUT in the event that something like that happens, I pray they look at mine wrong or mix my numbers up with someone else's...lol...and let me in! LOL. We'll see...

hahaha.. thanks
Tuesday, September 20 2011 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I told myself I wansn't gonna get mad.. lol.. but yeah, You have good numbers and you AA and a women (double minority), which means you're going to get a boost. So why did you apply golden gate? Also, I see you got PENN up there! that's good, but apply to PENN STATE too.. Because if you don't get into U of Penn, you still have the option of going to PENN State. Penn State has the name brand higher that U OF PENN, even though its ranked lower. Sometimes ranking is not everything, its sometimes about the name of the school..

trust me...
Tuesday, September 20 2011 at 08:00 PM

Penn State ranks number #1 when it comes to corporate recruiting for jobs. Trust me, its my Alma mater. The name is all you need to get a job anywhere even if you only have an undergraduate degree from there. Check out this Wall Street Journal report about it http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704358904575477643369663352.html

thank you and same to you
Thursday, October 27 2011 at 08:00 PM

Yes i see we are applying to similar school and have similar numbers. Which school is your top choice? Good luck on you cycle, i'm sure you will do great!! Manny blessings.

Thursday, October 27 2011 at 08:00 PM

My dream would be either University of Chicago or Berkeley but that would require divine intervention. I would love to either attend Georgia State or UGA as i want to eventually settle in atlanta.

Lol
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

I read your comment from 11/10. It's not funny, but it is funny, if you know what I mean. I think we're ALL in the same boat. Status checking every 5 minutes. It's enough to drive you CRAZY! Lol! I noticed that your decisions had come to a grinding halt the other day, so I figured you'd be posting something like the comment from 11/10 soon enough. Lol. Hold on though! They're coming! (Now if I could follow my OWN advice...lol).

Thanks...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

...for the words of encouragement. I'm not remotely bummed about Stetson. And you're right...when God closes one door, He opens another...and I'm hoping He sees fit to open doors 2, 3, 4, and 5! Lol. Nonetheless, APRIL??? Oh my. I don't think any of us has the mental strength to wait that long! Shoot. I'd be calling whatever schools I have left weekly to the point where they'd know my voice! Lol. Wait. Is that considered stalking? *Shrug* Oh well. Girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! Lol!

I still don't know when people leave comments on my thing am I supposed to reply on mine or theirs. But anyways, yea I got in via the website. I just randomly logged in and saw it. Pleasant surprise! Congrats on your acceptances thus far!

Georgia State
Thursday, June 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

gave me an unsolicited fee waiver. I'm surprised your numbers and urm wouldn't have earned you one. I'd shoot em an email if you haven't already and asked for one. Gl with your cycle!

Someone is bitter about their own cycle. You're in range at all of those schools.

Post law school...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

Really, that blog post is the plight of MOST of law school students. I know a guy that went to a T1 law school and it took him just over a year to get a job. One the contrary, I know a girl that went to a T4 school and she got a job within 3 months of passing the bar. Granted, she's a legal analyst for Lexis Nexis, but it's a well paying position. Frankly, I think the only way to avoid this kind of debt is to skip law school altogether. It is what it is in this economy. Nothing in this economy is guaranteed regardless of what school you go to. Just my take on the matter, though.

Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

"mooching" haha read a book (like one involving US history)

UGA
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

Congrats. I know you really wanted to get in there! :)

Tuesday, October 11 2011 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on UGA! Thats awesome. Did they offer you any scholarships?

Re: UGA
Friday, November 04 2011 at 08:00 PM

No stipulations academically since the scholarship is only for the first year. Just have to attend the school essentially.

Congrats
Thursday, October 27 2011 at 08:00 PM

Hey just stopping by to see how its going and i see its going great!!! Congrats on GSU, UGA and Mercer. Hope you continue to have an amazing cycle.

Alright now...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

Now you're just showing off. Lol. Congrats on getting into 3 out of the 4 law schools in Georgia. Something tells me you'll get into Emory as well. I need you to come down to my city and rub some of whatever you got on me!

Correction...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

3 out of the 4 law schools in Georgia that you applied to. Of course there are 5 law schools in Georgia...although John Marshall leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

I appreciate you crossing your fingers and toes for me...but apparently you're gonna have to walk around cross eyed too because I've got nothing going on over here. *Sigh* I guess it is what it is.

Monday, October 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on all your acceptances! Are the scholarship amounts you posted 3 year totals or yearly amounts?

UDM
Monday, September 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

Because I do not want to go to UDM at all....I would never live in Detroit, too dangerous!!! And I feel i'm better than a summer program!

huh???
Monday, September 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

You withdrew from UM ?WHAT!? Where do you want to go?

Curious...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

Have you narrowed down the list, as far as what school you think you're going to attend?

thank you
Thursday, October 27 2011 at 08:00 PM

You have no idea. lol. But i'm more than happy to have this problem and i hope the other schools make it even harder on me to decide. Honestly i did not think my cycle would go this well, i have truly been blessed. You are killing it (IN at Wake). Congrats on your success this far and keep them coming. lol

There will always be haters and naysayers. I am glad you have been accepted to many schools, best of luck in the rest of your cycle!

Thursday, May 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

Hey! I got my scholly info along with my acceptance letter in the mail about a week after acceptance via status checker. Hope that helped :). Good luck with rest of your cycle!

Inspiring
Tuesday, January 10 2012 at 07:00 PM

I'm happy for what you've got so far; they are very good bites. Please, if you would tell me what school you went to, it would paint a picture (I'm a GA student, too). Thanks, and good luck with the big schools!

Waitlist Options
Monday, February 06 2012 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your cycle! Out of curiousity though, you had no interest at all in waiting a little longer to see what Vandy or Cornell would have done?

Tuesday, June 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

@anonymous I honestly don't know what I did. My numbers aren't stellar so I guess law schools really do take your personal statement and other soft factors into account. Good luck with your cycle!
