Additional info & updates

So I have gone through a ton of these profiles, and while a lot can be figured out through the patterns, with the new change this year I'm sure there are some people who wanna see what happens to a guy with 3 lsat scores. I took my first in sept., (163) second in dec. (162) and third in feb. (166) I applied in late december to all the schools, and every rejection so far has only taken into account the first two scores. I am aware that I will still get rejected from a good deal of the other schools, however depending on how heavily the 166 is weighed, I think a few could go in the other direction...

Update: Appealed GW rejection, got my app taken back to committee, amazing what a stupid minor increase on a test can do, or hopefully do...

Update: Shocked at Emory Waitlist, I thought I should have gotten in with my old 163 LSAT, let alone a 166...I know they are one of the few schools that claim to strictly average, but personally, while this may be a simplistic argument, if you get to report my highest LSAT in your stats, I think unfair for you to strictly average me....nevertheless, I emailed them asking if they actually took my Feb score into account, and they claim they are now resending my application back to committee...

Update: First Fordham Status checker update in a long time and I'm still deferred, and still haven't heard back from any of the places...I feel like I'm gonna have some terrible luck and end up having one of the highest final scores on LSN to not get into fordham

Update: 26k from brooklyn, giving it the edge over Cardozo for now

Update: Notre Dame waitlist, kinda surprised about that, but much more importantly, that Emory waitlist quickly turned into a 18k scholarship admittance...first real signs of the highest lsat doing something, now I wish BU and BC would come around

Update: BC Acceptance! And finally I can tell myself taking the test 3 times was worth it

Update: Cornell "reserve", pretty disappointed as this was my first choice, but oh well, I'll try to keep up hope

Update: Georgetown rejection for FT and PT, kinda disappoinetd with the PT rejection as I thought I had the numbers but oh well

Update: Fordham Acceptance via the status chcker after originally being put on, "second evaluation". Feb score comes to the rescue again

Update: Cardozo upped its offer to $27,500, nice amount but dunno if I can go with them over fordham or BC

Update: Waitlisted at Vanderbilt and Florida

Update: Waitlisted at BU. People with my stats were getting merit aid there, and I'm waitlisted. Emory is supposed to be a school that averages, not BU...dunno what happened

Update: Now I know what happened...following in Emory's footsteps, BU didn't take my Feb LSAT into consideration, and are now going to evaluate me again. Lets hope they finish off the way Emory did (with some good aid as well)

UPDATE: Big day today, went to see BU and BC. First, I go into BC, and I hand them my other offers. After my tour, the admissions officer offers me 45k, (15k per year). Next, I go to BU, ask to talk to an admissions officer. I tell her that I believe they didn't take my Feb LSAT into consideration, and that BU is one of my top choices. An hour later on the ride home, I get a phone call from the officer accepting me. Good day I'd say.

Update: UCLA Waitlist

Update: Penn waitlist, and the incessant begging will commence

Update: And Duke rejection ends the cycle...but not the waiting...I am completely undecided between BU, BC and Fordham. What would make this decision a lot easier would be if Cornell would accept me off the reserve list (or if somehow the stars aligned in such a way to allow Penn to take me off the waitlist). But, assuming these unlikely events don't occur, I have to make this choice really soon.

Update: Brooklyn upped their offer to 32k per year even though I didn't send a deposit in for the scholarship...still not gonna be enough

Update (6/21): Brooklyn upped to 37k, Cardozo offered full scholarship plus 10k stipend, still won't do it though. Between BC and Fordham at this point, want to probably work in New York at a firm but BC is offering 15k. I am still praying for Cornell, although it seems clear that waitlists work by favoring splitters so I'm starting to accept my fate

Update (6/28/07): Phone call from Vandy dean of admissions accepting me off the waitlist and giving me a week to accept the offer....

I'm predicting five more acceptances for you. I'm impressed by your persistence with the LSAT, kinda wish I had a little more of that. Best of luck.

score increase

"amazing what a stupid minor increase on a test can do, or hopefully do..." So very true. If GW took it back into committee I bet they take you, they are really trying to bump their numbers.

thanks for the vote of confidence

I may not get into Yale but i will always love you

Emory

I am intrigued by your situation with Emory. I just found out (today) that I am waitlisted there, and I was also surprised. My first LSAT was a 158, which is low, but my second was a 164. I guess if you are saying that Emory averages the scores, then my placement on the waitlist makes sense, but I thought that schools were placing more weight on the highest score now. In any case, I'll keep my spot on the waitlist and see how it goes with my other schools. I'd really, really love to get into ND, so I am hoping they just look at the highest score... Do you think your acceptance and money to Emory is solely based on them looking at the 166? Anything you suggest I do (even though they knew both my scores when I sent my app in...)? I am guessing I just need to wait it out... ahh.

Man do I hate...

Davey. Don't listen to that idiot, BC is a great law school. I mean it's not Harvard. But definitely not mediocre. Davey i'm curious, are you an idiot?

crap

ahhh i just wrote a really long post on your wall and then it is said error and deleted it all! SO annoying! Anyway, thank you so much for your advice. In a nutshell, what I just said in my response was that my first test was October of 2005 and my second test was December of 2007. I really wanted to get my new score back before applying, so that is why the apps didn't get out til Jan/Feb. Anyway, since the schools clearly had my December 164, do you think it would seem whiny and desperate for me to email them? I am worried that maybe your case is more legit since you actually had concern that they didn't see your score. My thought is that they probably saw my new score but averaged the two. Anyway, I would like to do whatever possible to help improve my chances at Emory and also at the others i have yet to hear from (ND, specifically, and if I even thought it was worth hoping for, NU would be amazing...). Let me know if you still think I should email and if you have any suggestions on how to make my concern seem legit given my case. THANK YOU!

BC/ND

ND overenrolled white males last year and they're trying to balance things out this year. I wouldn't worry about it though, if I were you I'd choose BC over them anyways. Good luck w/ the rest of your apps.

appealing your rejection from GW
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey there. I am just curious if you've heard anything from GW about your appeal yet. I just got rejected from ND today and it made me wonder how your appeal situation worked out... I reallllly wanted to go to ND :( Anyway, let me know what you emailed them and what you've heard. I also had a multiple LSAT situation though they knew both of my scores, so I guess that doesn't help me.

Multiple LSAT

I applied this cycle with a 3.82GPA/162LSAT and just got a 166 on the June '07 LSAT. While I'm holding out on a few waitlists right now (BU/ND/UCLA) I'm definitely considering reapplying for next year given that I need financial aid/scholarship money to go to law school. Seeing as your LSAT split is really similar, would you suggest reapplying - do you think most schools took into account primarily your higher LSAT. If I reapply, my top choices would be ones that you either got into or on the waitlist, as well as Boalt/NW/UM (did they reject you before/after your 166?) Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just in a bit of a bind right now.
