Additional info & updates

4/27 In off the GW waitlist!! Very excited, as this school is far above GMU for IP and in general. Unfortunately I had already sent in the deposit to GMU, so Im short 750.00, but in the end it will be worth it. Will stay on GULC WL, but really like GW a lot

4/12 USC WL, not really surprised at is so late in the cycle. Will withdraw. Now just riding out the GW and GULC WL while I put a deposit down at GMU.

3/29 WUSTL WL, also withdrew from a number of schools today, will continue the withdrawal circus tomorrow... still hoping for GWU and GULC

3/24 15k scholarship to UGA for all three years, which when coupled with in state makes this an insanely cheap option, however I dont think Im gonna be in the position to leave my current job. Also got 24k to Florida. Great offers, sad to turn them down.

3/22 Emory WL, given that I'm at their 75ths, I'll assume this was with the old score. I might be the only 3.7/167 they WL this year

3/16 WM acceptance. Curious to see what money I get, would take a lot to get me out of my job and DC

3/15 Updated choices to reflect new rankings. Hope to hear from Emory soon. GULC wont review WL apps till April, and I don't know when GWU will.

3/2 LSAT number 4 = 167, I think it will be enough to get me into GW and give me a good shot at GULC

3/1 Rejected at Cornell, not so surprised about the rejection, moreso the fact they didn't wait until I got my Feb score back in two days

2/27 Got a $10k offer for my first year at American. I took my LSAT ther and liked it a lot. But I think the commute from the PTO will be too much for me to take it.

2/12 LSAT number four completed. Felt best about this one. Didn't really have any issues with anything. Felt a little less than confident on a few LRs, one or two LG Q's and one or two RC Qs. Nothing too bonkers, think it was enough to bump up two or so points, which should be enough for GWU and GULC

2/10 Accepted off the Hold at UGA! Excited as this would be a very cheap option for me

2/9 Got the job in DC and submitted LOCIs to GW and GULC. The admissions rep at GULC said they don't start looking at WL until April, so I've got some time. LSAT this Saturday, haven't been prepping all that much, so we'll see what happens

1/21 American acceptance, have heard back from all DC schools. Still waiting on hearing back about the damn job in DC. If I get it I'll probably write a LOCI then for GW and GULC. Also still studying for the Feb LSAT, making sure I relax this time and don't get burned out.

1/18 BC rejection was kind of a surprise, but then again so was the money to W&L. I think I wrote a polarizing PS which explains the mixed results, and the money from W&L

12/28 GW Waitlist, was one my realistic targets, hopefully the retake will put me over the edge

12/23 Georgetown WL. Was hoping and praying as this was my only realistic reach. I went ahead and registered for a ghastly 4th LSAT this February because I thought I'd probably get WL to GULC. Based on the percentages to the left this cycle isn't likely to play out well. All hopes and prayers are on GW.

12/21 UGA was held for further review. Given that my LSAT is at their 75th and my GPA is right at median, this is a little weird. Starting to think that there might be something wrong with my apps

12/17 Illinois WL, wasn't really expecting that and it doesn't bode well for my Emory, BU, and BC apps, oh well, here's to a rough cycle

12/16 Got the GMU acceptance call, which was really nice. acceptance stuff in the mail

12/09 Changed GULC to ED, definitely my number 1 school and I want to do everything I can to maximize chances of acceptance especially if I get some work on DC

12/06 GULC updated to complete again, this is the third time it has updated, so I think I might be getting a decision soon. Also getting approved to retake the LSAT in February to try and get closer to the PT average. Here's to 170 !

12/02 W&L Acceptance! I'm loving these quick turnarounds... 9 days after submitting, including thanksgiving.. that must have been one hell of a rec letter

11/24 Florida acceptance! psyched to have one before thanksgiving, really like their available joint degrees, and SEC football! (dated 11/19) decision 11 days after submitting!

11/23 Florida decision letter in transit.. nervously awaiting the first response, W&L went rec>comp>under review in one day (hopefully a good sign) I'd like to hear back from UGA, UF, BC, and W&L before christmas..

11/17 Florida, Boston College, and UGA are under review..

11/16 Targets are going complete, would love to get some acceptances before Christmas

11/8 Submitted Safties and Targets. Still writing "Why X" for all reaches.. rest should be submitted in the next few days

10/29 Just got Oct 2010 Score back. Last four or so tests were around a 172, so I am pretty disappointed but I think I still have a good shot at the schools I have wanted all along. If it gets to be January and I don't have the $$/Admits I want then I might take the Feb test as a last hurrah...

08/05 Registered for Testmasters to take October LSAT, really trying to get that score up, seems to be the only thing that held me back last cycle

07/29 Employer restructured tuition reimbursement and wants me to stay for 7 years if they pay for my MSEE, as hard as it is to turn down a Stanford MSEE, I have to really think about my future. Besides Upon withdrawal from Stanford they mentioned that I can be reinstated indefinitely with good reason.

06/01 Just got into Stanford for an MSEE and will be pursuing that as my employer will pay for it. Will take me out of two cycles (this one and next one) But it will let me save up some money, get good WE and retake, which I think will go a long ways in helping get into GULC part time.

05/19 VANDY WL!!! This is a big surprise and a great one at that. I'm sure I am very far down the waitlist, but will stay on to see what happens. Either way I'm planning on a retake and reapplying

05/17 USC and Cornell rejections. Most likely gonna withdraw at GSU and retake, my job has offered me a free MSEE from USC and I can complete that in one year. I'm gonna retake this October and see what happens, if I end up with something near or lower than a 162, then I'll probably just get into GSU again and end up there (while they hopefully continue the slow rise in the rankings) Vanderbilt Rejection should be on its way and here soon. Here's to next year!

04/27 Penn and Chicago rejections today, almost done with all of them, don't know what is taking the others so long but it's all good, at this point I'm set on GSU. I like my job and the idea of graduating with savings is a nice thought (says the kid who only got in to one school ;) )

04/20 UGA emailed me to say that I'm still on the WL while they rejected a lot of their other WL-ers (due to the jump in the rankings no doubt) So I guess that's good. They pretty much said they had more yes's than expected, so I don't see why they would pull from the WL at all, but either way, Ill take it

04/19 BC ding, was kind of expecting a WL, but I think the lateness of my apps really hurt me. Well It looks like it'll be GSU unless the WLs come through, but even then, the PT of GSU will make it extra attractive as I will be able to keep my new job.

04/16 Duke reject, it'll be nice when all the rejections come in so this can be over. Sent in deposit for GSU yesterday a well as LOCI and new resume to BC, BU, and UGA

04/14 Expected GULC ding, still had a small sliver of hope, but it didn't happen. Only school left that I have a marginal shot at is BC, but given that they still haven't responded to my app in any way, they prob already have their class together. Will stay on Emory, UGA, and BU WL, but know that I'm pretty far down all of them

04/13 Edited to reflect newly leaked rankings... still waiting on BC and GULC as only potentials admits, looks like I might only get in to one school this year

04/12 GWU Ding, kinda surprised, but really shouldn't be. LSAT just wasn't right. This will be a foreshadowing of my GULC ding. Received $1000.00 from GSU for this fall. Will ride out BU, Emory and UGA WL to see what happens but will plan on GSU.

3/29 BU wait listed me, another top-20 school with a 162 LSAT, I cant tell you how excited I am about that, even though I'm sure I'm at the bottom of the wait list.. in other news, Interview for a full ride to GSU today, that will make things nicer for this rough cycle.. Also got the engineering job. (which I will gladly take) Odds are at this point I'll be at GSU part time this fall, but if i get off the WL to BU or Emory, I might request a deferral for a year and see what happens

3/25 First acceptance, odds are where I'll be this fall... GSU Law, can't beat the price and I love Atlanta, given my interest in IP law, I think it'll be a good fit, and on the off chance I'm near the top of my class I might try and transfer later on.. we'll see

3/24 Mich rejection is nothing surprising, and I'm glad they sent it so quickly. But I was very surprised by the straight up rejection at GMU, especially for PT. I don't know if maybe the decision was made with my old LSAT or what. Either way, I didn't plan on going so it's not too big of a deal.

03/19 Waitlisted at Emory, am extremely excited about that... my LSAT is pretty low for them, but I have good softs for them and can attend if notified late.. (like in August) but either way, I think that means I have half a shot at GULC

03/10 Wailisted at UGA, kinda glad, means that my app is pretty good outside of the LSAT score, and a nice first response. I'll probably hop on it just to see what happens

03/09 - Just interviewed for an engineering position here in Atlanta, on the off chance I get into GW, or (gasp!) GULC, I'll request deferral to get some good work experience. Either way a lot of my apps are going complete, so I hope the wait isn't too bad, though I'm not expecting anything back until mid to late April (outside of rejections)

02/27 - New LSAT - 162, means I'll be getting a lot of nasty letters, I applied to all the schools on the off chance I got a good score so I wouldn't be screwed over by the deadlines. Ill prob be at GSU this fall

02/21 - Berkeley rejection

01/26 - Berkeley Under Review, all other apps on hold until Feb scores are available. Not expecting any scholarship money, will wait for next cycle only in case of 173

I agree! You want to practice in Atlanta I see! When are you gonna send your apps in? What kind of work did you do at the IP firm?

Wednesday, November 11 2009 at 07:00 PM

Similar numbers and I was an engineer as well...good luck to you.

I actually went to southern poly and work at GT. So hopefully the work will make up for the small school thing.

GM and GW
Monday, October 26 2009 at 08:00 PM

I only did FT for both programs, but I had talked with both schools beforehand at a Law School Fair, and so I thought I had a good shot at both

GWU and GULC
Monday, June 29 2009 at 08:00 PM

I applied only full time for both. When I got the WL at American, they let me indicate I would like consideration for either, but I don't remember seeing anything like that on the GW letter. But yeah, totally expected the GULC deny.. I just wanted to make sure I gave all the DC school a chance!

UGA
Monday, October 26 2009 at 08:00 PM

I'm out of state for UGA, actually for all the schools I'm applying to. I haven't heard if its any easier to get in as an instater or not. Either way, good luck!

Monday, June 29 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yeah I'm definitely pursuing all available avenues to DC. I'm with you about the softs though. I hate that 4 hours determines the rest of my life...

UGA
Monday, October 26 2009 at 08:00 PM

I think I'm just going to see what fits best. IP is what got me interested in law, but we'll see how it goes once I get started. And yeah they already said that most people would be getting in-state after their first year, so I'd definitely go for that.

I got a letter in the mail back in Jan. letting me know I was WLed. I am starting to worry about not hearing from some of these schools yet though... I mean it's almost April! I see you have quite a few stuck on pending as well. Do you know if there is a certain date by which they have to give us some kind of decision?

another LSAT
Monday, June 29 2009 at 08:00 PM

It's funny that you mention re-taking the LSAT in June... due to my overwhelming number of WLs, I thought about doing the same. I already took the LSAT twice and got the exact same score, so I am not sure if I could improve. Do you think a higher score would make that much of a difference in terms of being waitlisted? I would just hate to put myself through that thing for a 3rd time...

Wednesday, April 21 2010 at 08:00 PM

I am applying to Florida as well...am I missing something about their payment method? Is it mail only?

Florida
Thursday, January 06 2011 at 07:00 PM

Did you get any scholarship money from Florida?

RE: $$ at FL
Wednesday, September 16 2009 at 08:00 PM

No, I didn't get any money from them. I think they have a habit of offering people with numbers too good for their school (3.7+ 168+) which is kinda of ironic considering they probably won't end up there.

If it's any consolation about UGA, my application status was "held for further review" for about two weeks. Tonight, when I checked my status, I was accepted. Hold out hope!

Congrats!

I had a feeling that you were bound to be accepted at UGA, especially with your numbers. Congrats!
