ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

When factoring in scholarship, tuition, fees, medical insurance and housing, I calculated the actual additional cost vs. Michigan as:
Chicago: $77,000
NYU: $111,000

A theoretical Columbia with $0 scholarship would have been $164,000 more, which made declining the waitlist very easy.

(10/28) Admitted at Duke by Email
(11/2) I find out I am in at Georgetown because I can log into the Admitted Students site! Status checker had not changed
(11/13) Michigan status checker to Decision
(11/20) Woken up by phone call asking if I got Berkeley's email. I check, and I'm in. Never get a call from Dean Tom.
(12/3) Invitation to apply for Darrow
(12/4) Submitted Darrow essay
NYU package was postmarked (12/5), slow mail.
(12/19) Full Darrow, tuition + 7500 stipend
(1/04) E-mail acceptance to Northwestern
(1/07) UVA Status Checker Changed to Decision
(1/19) Withdrew from Georgetown, Northwestern, Duke and Virginia
(1/24) Woken up by call from Chicago
(1/25) Submitted FAFSA
(1/31) Submitted NeedAccess
(2/06) Deferred at Harvard by email

(3/11) Requested reconsideration of scholarship from Chicago in light of the Darrow.
(3/12) Waitlisted at Penn by e-mail
(3/24) Withdrew from Penn and Berkeley by e-mail (i.e. declined Penn waitlist)
(4/1) 50,000 + 10,000 for low-paying 2L summer for NYU. Withdrew from NYU
(4/3-5) Attended Chicago ASW. Looked good, but not surprisingly so (hard to top its reputation). Decision still depends on scholarships.
(4/15) Waitlisted at Yale by email.
(4/16) Chicago award raised to $64,000 + 12.8k for PI 2L summer, by e-mail
(4/18) Waitlisted at Columbia by mail. Declined waitlist

Congrats on your awesome cycle. Please withdraw from xyz school! I love it. Have you heard back from Chicago about increasing your scholarship? Let me know how it goes. I think I'll try a similar tactic after ASW. (Although, I dont have a Darrow to match)

Hey there, fellow Darrow! Your cost comparison breakdown really puts things in perspective (I couldn't be bothered to actually figure out the price differences.) Congrats on making a decision (the right one, IMHO), and see you in the fall!

they were for my majors, but I\'m pretty sure I would have gone down by now after this last semester. So tired of bio! Congrats on your choices, and good luck with Michigan. =) -tracker

I must admit I\'m very envious of that fancy Darrow you got. Best of luck and kick some 1L ass!
