Additional info & updates

**3-20-08**
The worst possible scenario took place. Im waitlisted @ buffalo. And then there were 3.....

So for now im sitting on nails as I anxiously wait to hear from the final 3 schools. Im guessing the responses will be somewhere down the line of what I have received so far. I expect no miracles......

3-30-08 Update
Somehow I managed to be waitlisted at almost every school. I really hope something comes through-

I will be patiently waiting.....

**4-8-08** obviously i was rejected from Cardozo. That was all too easy to predict-

**5-6-08** --truly awesome day. I was notified via email that I am accepted to NYlaw-

hope this opens the door to more good fortune!

**5-27-08**-- happy to report that I indeed received a 2nd acceptance. Who knows what the summer may have in store. All I have to say is others-- is keep your head up!!

**6-18-08** --Hofstra called me last week and told me I was accepted for part time evening. Although I dont think I want to do part time--im still happy to have been accepted---and maybe I will push for more.

University at Buffalo Law

Hey Doxie, Thanks for your note. I MEAN EVERY BIT OF WHAT I SAY ! There is a maxim out there that says: Go prestigious, go public, or don't go at all ! If you can't get into the top 30 law schools then you should go public ! And University at Buffalo is the best public law school in the entire northeast !!! Best wishes on your application !

Good Luck

thanks Buffalo-- but things arent looking so good right now. Its gonna take somewhere along the lines of a miraculous scenario for me to get in somewhere.

Buffalo
Tuesday, May 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks Doxieboy. Buffalo has always been one of my strong choices because it is a strong tier 2 school in my state. I also know Buffalo grads who are doing really great in the corporate world. Besides, I was thinking of doing a dual degree MSW/JD, if I do attend Buffalo, it will take me only 3 years to complete both degrees (advanced standing and dual degree). So in honesty, as you can see, my decision was more personal than general. All these good things plus a full tuition scholarship cannot be beat....right? I hope you get off the waiting list in Buffalo if that's where you wanna go. GOOD LUCK!

Is Buffalo really your top choice?

I see. Well, I hope you get off the waiting list; maybe we'll be classmates in the Fall. GOOD LUCK Doxie boy!

W/L

Waitlists do suck. I'm not sure about Buffalo. I stayed on the W/L but i want to work in NYC. I think Pace might be the better option for that goal. I am still holding out hope for St. John's or Cardozo waitlist.

Waitlisting

Hey Bud, A few things I noticed on how not to and how to get out of the rut of being waitlisted and hoping one waitlists becomes an acceptance. 1) You needed to apply to more schools that you were at least 66% sure you'd get into. IE a school that's lower LSAT score is below 150. Sucking up your pride and applying to a Tier 4 school, may suck and hurt the ego but its better than sitting on your duff because you were too stubborn or didnt know. You may make less at graduation than someone from one of those Tier 3 schools, but over time your rep depends on experience/track record and not where you earned your degree. 2) Applying to schools out of the area. Youre from NY (I am guessing upstate) and the NY schools have a plethora of students from NY applying... harsh truth is that they want variety. You may have the same numbers/activities as someone from Texas but that person brings a bit of flavor to the herd b/c of the different culture down there. My cousin told me that the rumor in Law school is that you go to school and then work near the school forever. This is wrong he went to Dayton and is moving to Tampa. If your aggressive enough, you can practice anywhere in the world if you can prove you want it bad enough. 3) To help get out: email each and every Dean of Admissions and CC the Dean of law something about how acceptance into their school is your #1 desire in life and how you understand your weakness (LSAT Score) is a concern but your other traits would make you a viable candidate to study law at their school. UB admissions told me this jazz. Furthermore, they said admissions loves aggressive pro-active students who wont take failure for many reasons...it will help you out. This is definitely the time (mid April may) to draft some email up and send separately to each school (since it is about time their deposit deadlines are due). I dont mean to make ya think I am trying to say you took a bad approach, please focus on 3 the most. Where in NY are you from? Didnt want to try Albany? I bet theyd have accepted you b/c of the GPA. Hope all works out, I bet it will. You got waitlisted where I got rejected too.

hey

Hey, I am going to Franklin Pierce in NH because of its great reputation in Intellectual Property law. My first choice was UB and then Syracuse... but neither turned out real in my favor. Pierce, has a good portion of alumn in NY. I plan on moving back home to Rochester NY after I grad... I heard the NY bar is a real bitch.

LOCI
Friday, February 29 2008 at 07:00 PM

You mean acceptance-- i wish i had more-- and yes LOCI are very important--but make sure they are sincere and not just general--- but they do make a considerable difference-

Awesome!
Tuesday, May 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

I am so happy for you doxieboy...it is now certain that you are going to law school this year. Good luck with the other schools.

Congrats on that.
Tuesday, May 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

I\'m certainly happy for you. Which of these schools are you considering seriously attending?

Decisions
Tuesday, May 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

Well, I do see your rationale for making that choice. My only questions to you is this, \"isn\'t NYlaw equally as expensive as say Syracuse?\"

Choice
Tuesday, May 29 2007 at 08:00 PM

Absolutely...I don\'t even think a Yes from NW can change that at this point. Good luck at NYLaw.
