ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

11/2 So far I have sent 7 applications in to schools. Waiting to
get paid so I can send the rest on in. Still waiting for law
schools to request all my documents from LSAC to make
my file complete. The Process has begun. My applications
included an addendum where I discussed why my gpa was
so low.

11/6 Nine apps in, going through my email trying to apply to all
to schools that offer me fee waivers. next set of apps to
come

11/15 I will apply to 22 schools that is my max.

11/14 Hofstra said they will let me know a decision by 12/15, I
hope I get in. Depaul will inform me 2-3 weeks from
today! I applied to Florida Coastal because the lady kept
on emailing me to apply. She says they are offering me
22,000. scholarship based on my numbers. New York Law
School gave me a choice to do a optional interview which
I will be taking an advantage of.

11/15 I emailed some schools yesterday to get some fee waivers.
So far I got only one from Indiana. Thank God!

11/15 12 Apps In

11/15 Just received emails back from Penn State, Syracuse and
University at Buffalo. Both schools granted my request
for fee waivers. Just saved $210.00 bucks

11/19 Used Law School Predictor, I got so many denials.
However I remain faithful!

11/22 In at Florida Coastal, not much to say about that

11/24 Went to visit Seton Hall yesterday, the law school is so
beautiful. For those of you applying there, they won't be
sending out decisions until January.

11/30 Two more apps to send out and I am done.

12/1 Waitlisted at Depaul via email:(

12/6 Decision Rendered at North Carolina. I guess the decision will come in the mail:)

12/7 I'm going crazy at work. I check the status checkers 8 times a day:( I really hope to hear some good news soon.

12/10 Just received my acceptance letter from North Carolina. I got accepted. 17 more decisions to go. Wish me luck:)

12/12 Admitted at Touro via status checker. I'm so blessed to even get acceptances, at the same time I really would like to get admitted into my top three choices. Keeping my fingers crossed and continuing to be faithful and pray:)

12/16 I went to see if other Hofstra Applicants got admissions and they did so I checked my checker and I have been accepted to Hofstra Law. Today has to be one of the best days considering how far i've come. I'm so blessed and so happy. I might be going to Hofstra whoo hoo!

12/20 Hofstra sent a email congratulating me on my acceptance. Scholarship info will be sent in January. Excited about that. Also got a email from Cardozo Law. I really wanted to apply but I just could not afford it before so it was nice to get fee waiver. I sent my Cardozo application in today. It would be nice to go to Dozo Law because I graduated from Cardozo high school. Wish me luck:)

1/3/12 Rejected at Seton Hall Law;(

1/6/12 Accepted to New York Law School via Status Checker:)

1/12/12 Rejected from Wake Forest Law:(

1/14/12 Hofstra Scholarship Award Letter Received $10,000 per year:)

1/18/12 Just completed my FAFSA Application:) So so tired of waiting for the rest of these schools.

1/23/12 Accepted to Syrcause today via mail. Accpetance included T-shirt, bumper sticker, housing info and acceptance letter. I wish all schools gave such nice packages. Scholarship info will come in late February.

1/23/12 I asked Hofstra for a increase in aid and they finally responded and they want me to submit scholarships from other institutions so they can re-consider the aid.

1/25/12 Accepted to Rutgers Law Newark via email. Hopefully scholarship and accepted letter will come soon. YAY. DECISIONS DECISIONS:)

1/30/12 So if I go to Rutgers Newark I'll only have to pay 25K per year, can't pass that up. But we shall see

1/30/12 Rejected from Brooklyn Law via status checker:(

  • Hi
  • Wednesday, November 16 2011 at 04:45 PM

NYLS sent me an e-mail about their interview a few days ago. I'm not going to schedule one though. I honestly have no interest in attending. Hofstra also told me they would let me know by 12/15 the latest. Did you apply there ED? Good luck with your cycle, I'll be watching.

- nyckiddo
  • Thursday, November 17 2011 at 05:07 AM

No NYLS? The campus is really beautiful.I honestly don't know which school I really want to go to yet. It will be nice to have options though. No I didn't do ED for Hofstra. I applied early so the Director of Admissions said I will get a response 12/15 as well. I just want some decisions already.

  • Ohhh
  • Thursday, November 17 2011 at 08:38 AM

Yes I received my user name and password for the status checker a few days ago. I have a few friends that are currently attending NYLS and they like it there, but its not for me. I'm sure not going to the interview doesn't mean the will reject. And yes, choices are great to have. I'm hoping to have lots.

- anonymous
  • Saturday, November 19 2011 at 05:21 PM

that Florida Coastal scholarship is a complete trap. 2.9 GPA you have to maintain as a stipulation, even though the curve is like 2.6 or something. It's crazy.

- idontpaymyharlots
  • Sunday, November 20 2011 at 05:57 AM

i don't plan on going there anyway. i just applied because the admissions officer kept on pushing me to apply

- iukwu12
  • Sunday, November 20 2011 at 05:59 AM

and a 2.9 gpa is not bad at all. I know some schools require one to maintain higher gpa's. I plan on doing very well in law school.

- iukwu12
  • Monday, November 21 2011 at 11:45 AM

iuk, everyone plans on doing well in law school. but the fact of the matter is, grades are curved. 2.6 median curve is very tough. if it was 3.3 curve, it's different. I wish u luck, and i suggest u use the scholarship FLCL offers to negotiate with other law schools.

- idontpaymyharlots
  • Monday, November 21 2011 at 12:17 PM

2.6 is tough? I'm confused

- iukwu12
  • Monday, November 21 2011 at 12:32 PM

you're confusing undergraduates and law school GPA. You should research. 2.6 median curve means 50th best student out of 100. 2.9 probably means somewhere between 10-20% class rank. either way, you're competing against already accomplished college graduates, some who has graduate degrees, others with significant work experiences, etc. No one goes to law school intending to cruise through or settle for mediocrity. Do some research on GPA median and you'll find out what i'm talking about.

- idontpaymyharlots
  • Tuesday, November 22 2011 at 04:14 AM

Whenever you get a scholarship offer there are stipulations to it. Law Schools are not going to just throw you money to not maintain a certain gpa. I don't need to do research because every school is different and every curve is different. I don't agree with you when you said Florida Coastal scholarship requirement is a strap because it isn't. All the schools require you to maintain a certain gpa or a certain rank in your class and I just don't think it should be considered a strap. This is my opinion.

- iukwu12
  • Tuesday, November 22 2011 at 04:17 AM

and I never compete with anyone, just myself

- iukwu12
  • Tuesday, November 22 2011 at 06:38 AM

Then we'll agree to disagree. There are facts backing that at least Florida Coastal scholarship is a trap, I.E. Attrition rate. Not to mention FLCL is For-Profit school and has no undergraduate to back them up financially.

- idontpaymyharlots
  • Tuesday, November 22 2011 at 06:39 AM

I know most scholarships has a stipulation. however, some scholarship offers has an easy stip, that's what i'm trying to say. Maintaining a 2.9 GPA while the curve is 2.6...that's a harsh stip, hence why it is a trap.

- idontpaymyharlots
  • Tuesday, November 22 2011 at 06:44 AM

And i hate to tell you this because more of us should have childlike innocence (this isn't meant to be an insult so please don't take it like that), but when you're in law school, you're definitely competing with others. You might do well, but if there are far more students who's work is superior, then your grades will go down. It's not the quality of your work itself, it's how your work ranks against other students. That's why undergraduate GPA or law school GPA is different. Everything is curved in law school.

Congrats on your acceptance!! I am waiting anxiously to hear back from them myself. I was wondering, did you check your status online to learn about your decision? Yesterday my status changed from ready and waiting for review to application under review. I am hoping that means there will be a decision soon- possibly today. Thanks! Jennifer

i found out via status checker. i might have pissed them off when i said "please don't hold off my application even though I have registered for the Feb 2012 LSAT". They probably thought I was obnoxious. I just wanted to test out how "strong" rest of my app was and didnt have any desire to attend there. So I guess I was a bit obnoxious lol.
