to be updated further into the admissions cycle in an appeal to anonymity.

Not going to go into too much detail, but I am from a well known inner city and have lived through tragedies usually only depicted on television. etc etc.. blah blah. you know the sad URM story. :-D lol

Note to my fellow tragic :-D URM's: Don't be mistaken, I did not whine in my personal statement about what I went through. I didn't play the "victim," instead I candidly explained my situation and focused more on my strengths.
(Not as much what I've been through, but more so what I've done and how I'm qualified for Law School). Lets see how the strategy works out.

08-23-2011: Created an account today with intentions of helping others gain insight, and hopefully easing the stress of this process with a couple of my corny ass jokes. :-D

As of now I am working on personal statement drafts, and gathering letters of recommendation.

Don't know where this cycle will take me but I am mainly interested in 4 schools.

Note: I would be satisfied with almost any school. As long as I believe the Law School will provide me with an adequate education and career path, I will be satisfied.

I know I might be aiming high but my life is an immensely interesting one (honestly no egotism intended).

I will try to frequently check in and update, but I can't promise you anything.

After the cycle I will almost certainly become more unavailable, so I'll try to use as many details as possible in my post. Good Luck to All of You.

Ok so I'm checking back in today. --10/26/2011

I don't have much to say but I do have info regarding fee waivers

For those of you getting ready to apply make sure you solicit the schools first. I received maybe 8 unsolicited fee waivers but more importantly I received 15 solicited waivers. All you have to do is ask and they usually give it out easy. I took a day and solicited 30 schools (I know a lot, but fuck it, I had nothing else to do). Out of those 30 I received 15 so far and haven't heard from 9 other schools yet. I assume Ill get maybe another 5 or so.

20 out of 30... not bad

If your wondering how I inquired about the fee waivers, I basically used the outline from toplawschools.com. (Google it)

Most schools replied in 1-2 days of my request. The rest took about a week.

Oh I should also add that out of the 30 solicited they were all top 70 schools so the amount of successful request are even more worth noting based on my numbers. The majority of the denials came from the top 20 schools, although even some of them gave me waivers also.

I most likely wont apply to all thirty and even though I have waivers I still have to pay the 16 dollar LSAC fee. So nothings free.

If your cheap or simply can't afford too many applications make sure you solicit these schools, 70 dollars per application is what many are charging.

I've applied to some schools, ill list them soon when I feel like it lol.

btw although I rarely post, I sometimes sign on to law school numbers and check for decisions, I haven't went ghost yet and don't plan on it.

Checking out

I'm BACK! --11-25-2011

well all my apps are in and complete. Some are in "review," so I guess the waiting game begins :-).

I know next year there is going to be someone with similar numbers to mine looking at my page nervous as hell.. well I don't know how my cycle will play out, but I hope I get in every school and you can leave my page feeling more optimistic. You'll probably shit your pants if all you see are rejections ahaha.

btw..

I f*cked up a turkey yesterday..
like really f*cking bad, the shit had no chance.

Gotta love thanksgiving. :-D

Additional info & updates

Don't remember exact completion dates but all of my apps went complete somewhere between November 1st and 15th.

12/06 - Waitlisted at George Washington via email. (there was no status checker change whatsoever since "application complete" on 11/10 and it still hasn't changed)
They had a 2 page personal statement requirement and I squeezed my 3 1/2 page statement into it by using a tiny font and ridiculously adjusting the margins. lol Thought i'd be rejected for sure, so this just shows me the strength of my application. I will ride the wait list with them. I dig their IP law program.

12/08 - Accepted at Washington and Lee via email then status checker. They have the smoothest application process. I'm going to Law School ! :-D

01/06 - Waitlisted at University of Minnesota via email, a little bummed at this one since it is one of my top choices. Lets see how it pans out.

On another note, Washingon and Lee is quickly becoming more and more interesting to me as I get to know other accepted students and faculty. Also, I'm still deny free so thats pretty cool!

1/06 - Denied at Ohio State via email, lmao i think i jinxed myself earlier today by saying I'm still deny free. Luckily, its not a big deal deny for me, I only applied because of the fee waiver. Fuck Lebron James. :-D

1/06 - In at Chicago-Kent via email.. This was one seriously volatile day lol. Anyway, no biggy, Chicago-Kent was only a safety.. However, i dig highly respected ip law programs so I'm curious to see what kind of scholarship offer they throw at me.

1/09 - In at Southwestern via email.. no biggy.. just a safety

Time for a little Random blurtations.. yes "blurtations" (real men disregard nominal ordinances.. And yes, in that realm i include the use of actual words)

Anyway, for my blurtation..

My New Years Resolution is to Get fucked up every weekend before the Fall of 2012. :-D I also plan to engage in a thousand other unprofessional activities before law school arrives and sucks my youth away.. I advise you all to do the same :-)

1/13 - Denied at Duke, FUCK DUKE.. ahaha

1/18 - In at Cardozo via phone call with $30,000 per year.. now thats what I call good news :-).

2/02 - In at Loyola Law School via postal mail.

2/03 - Waitlisted at Hastings.. surprised the hell out of me.. thought I'd be in there for sure.. lol no biggy Hastings isn't known for giving good scholarship money and I can't afford the area without a hefty scholarship anyway. Might have to withdraw from this one.. well not yet.. lol you never know maybe they'll be generous this year.

2/08 - Watlisted at Boston University. I must be an applicant thats difficult to flat out deny lol :-D. A little bummed at this one but at the same time I really don't have the numbers for this school so I am happy to be given the opportunity.. (Bittersweet)

2/25 - In at UC Davis via postal mail.

3/1 - In at The University of San Diego via email.

Honestly, I'm just kicking back chilling now. I came into this cycle trying to win.. and that's exactly what I've been doing lol.. Winning like Charlie Sheen's high ass.

3/6 - No new school news but I just realized I have 4,764 views on my page lol wow! Somebody out there is seriously digging my page. Too bad the updates will come to an end in a little over a month. :-D lol

3/23 - Waitlisted at William and Mary,
Waitlisted at Washington University,
Rejected at Emory.

My Law School decision is about 85% final (don't ask).. I'm mainly still updating for those who, in the future, will look at this page for guidance.

Note: I did not update the scholarship information because 1. I'm lazy HA! :-D and 2. It doesn't matter since we will all most likely get different amounts anyway. Just know, every school that accepted me offered me something.. Oh and Negotiating Works.

Going to withdraw from the schools I'm no longer interested in today. I will Not be adding the Withdraws (W's) to my application list though.. Hopefully some applicants will get my award money!

4/1 - Rejected from USC.. damn no love from SC. Thought I'd make the wait list :-( . At least all the good news outweighs the bad. :-)

Decided to list my withdrawals after all.. (I've also changed some of my info to the truth)
Not from New york I'm from Cali.. and my LSAT/GPA info is now true

I would like to take this opportunity to send a shout out to the Los Angeles Lakers.. yep, for no reason :-)

4-7 - Accepted at Santa Clara
Withdrew from Pepperdine..

Cycles over! :-)

Thursday, June 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

I am excited for your WL at GW! With today's batch of emails from them, I can't decide if it's good or bad for me that I haven't heard anything yet :-P I am too impatient for this game! Your app. schools' geographic locations are all over the place (just like mine)--any particular reason? GL for the rest of your cycle!

thaaaaaaaaanks
Monday, August 22 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thank you Shastalman! the reasoning behind my various geographical regions is a combination of fee waivers and scholarship fishing. lol Im very much interested in minimizing any debt I will incur in law school. Try not to think about it as much as you can, thats what I do, because it is still so early in the cycle, you can drive yourself crazy checking that status checker :-D. (aww who am I kidding I check that shit every day lol). Anyway, Good luck to you too on the rest of your cycle!

congrats!
Tuesday, April 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thursday, June 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

I completely understand--people keep asking what my #1 choice is, and my reply is, "whichever gives me the most money!" My apps are all over the place b/c my fiance is applying to grad school, and his subfield isn't very common; we're just hoping for overlap in admittances and $.

ayyyy
Monday, August 22 2011 at 08:00 PM

thanks cookiemonster, good luck to you too and yea I will be cheesing like the koolaid man if I get off the waitlist. :-D Shastalnman I feel you 100%. Thats the exact same answer I give when asked. lol I'm not trying to mess with too much debt, if any of these schools is talking big scholly money I'm there ASAP! I hope you and your dude get in to schools near each other, that would be perfect.

:)
Tuesday, April 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

definitely hoping to get some love from schools outside CA (like new york!) and i like how you seem be applying to a bunch of schools in cali. hopefully lawschools prefer out-of-state applicants? who knows! definitely excited that i was admitted somewhere...although the bar passage rate for whittier is lower than the state average... anyways, hope you hear some amazing acceptances soon! :)

W&L
Thursday, June 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

Congrats man! W&L will be lucky to have you!

:)
Tuesday, April 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

Monday, August 22 2011 at 08:00 PM

thanks Nici good luck with your cycle! @Stepout I didn't list the schools I withdrew from because I didn't think it was important.. but you feel differently so fuck it, I'm going to list them. :-)
